    Thats the standard combo price…
e.g.: same price on the Apple store

    • $0.95 more expensive

Just finished watching Casey Neistat's comprehensive review looks good👍
    https://youtu.be/OdUryRvNmgs

    • it's awesome. I am really tempted to buy even at full price.
I can't see no reason to buy the MP or MPP; only relevant difference is the 9 minutes more flight time but you can easily solve with an additional battery.

      • Watched review and that's a huge AU tax from $799+US TAX=$879US

        • Thats the fly more combo, so compare to $999USD, still a hike, but yeah.

the $799USD base package is coming here at $1299….

Classic Aus hike which is annoying…

  • Might have to put my original phantom with accessories on ebay🤔

  • This drone is everything I was hoping the Spark would be, I'll be pulling the trigger on one in the near future.

  • Isn’t this $799USD for drone and $999USD for fly more? Wth the Aussie dollar about 80 cents US this should be around $1400 not $1600

    • maybe prices in USD excludes tax?

      • US prices include tax according to DJI website

      • +1

        $999USD = $1249AUD
        $1249 + 10% GST = $1374AUD total.

DJI are definitely jacking the price up with an "Australia tax" I'd wait for a local supplier to get much closer to $1400 before taking the plunge

        • I will try.
but I sold my phantom 3 more than a month ago and i miss it :)

          • Shipping.
        • @beigehornet: does dj allow international warranty? i intend to buy this from us and bring here to purchase dj care

  • I will stick with my mavic pro… Love it's flying time and stability.

  • When are they likely to be stocked in Australian stores?

    • rep at Teds Camera told me mid February

      • Now for coles or Woolies to have gift card offer!
5% already if you know how ;)

        • +1

I was considering Teds because of Zipmoney :)

        • @ets27: Isn't max on Zip $500?

        • @Mercury:
I think it depends on the merchant. With zipmoney (different from zippay) i bought a 3.5k mountain bike.

        • @ets27: ah got ya

  • In case you're wondering the Air is similar to the Spark but with 4k video.

    • Hmm i would say its more like a smaller mavic pro

    • +1

and RAW… which makes it more similar to the Mavic

      • the Mavic Air can do 4K, 120p at HD and has a higher max bitrate of 100mbps, compared to 60 on the Mavic & 24 on the Spark.

There is quite a difference between the spark & mavic Air.

        • I was meaning the Mavic Air is more similar to the Mavic Pro rather than the Spark.

    • Nope.

On paper the Mavic Air is better than the Mavic Pro in every aspect except Distance / Flight time (which go hand in hand).
Air has a better camera, better portability, better controller, better functions, better sensors etc.

Mavic Air range is still 4km which is more then enough but several fold.

Also when you consider the smaller form factor of the Mavic Air you'll probably actually get more flight time with a Mavic Air than the Mavic Pro when talking about how much weight/space each one takes up. You'll be able to carry twice as many batteries with the Air.

  • Looks like a Spark on steroids. The 360 camera.. I presume it has more cameras than the standard one mounted on Gimbal?

Wish they would just allow a camera mount on it so I can stick my Gear 360 on for that..

    • one camera but it can do a sphere panorama to make a 360 image

      • Unless it spins on its axis to take the other side.. then can't really see it doing a 360 image that way. Typically you need a minimum of two wide cameras (180 degree capable) and stitched to do this.

        • +1

it's an automated spin and stitches the images together

        • @impoze: Thanks for clarifying. :)

        • @impoze: Apparently the feature is added to the Spark too:
          https://store.dji.com/guides/spark-sphere-mode-review/

Might try it this long weekend to see how it works. Still rather mount my Gear though. Need to work out a way to do that (might need a bigger drone to lift it)..

Wait for an eBay sale at 20% off in a few weeks

    • Don't they not do those anymore? Haha

  • I come from China. Just Check the price in China DJI store. It is ¥4999/¥6399RMB. Almost $970/$1243AUD. Maybe I should it through my friends when they back from China. But no warranty?

  • +1

DJI reports the Mavic Air has f2.8 compared to f2.2 of Mavic Pro and f2.6 of Spark…Sensor size same as Spark too. No idea why the aperture isn't better…

    • cause its fixed focus rather than AF that the mavic pro. So they prob need that extra depth of field to cover more things in focus

  • Mavic Pro Fly More is $1800 from brick n mortar and $1600 from Australian suppliers. While both have pro/cons, IMO the Mavic Pro is a better tool.

    • So you reckon this is going to be $1800 at say JB HiFi? Where did you get those prices from?

      • What I'm saying is that $1600 for Mavic Air Fly More, versus $1800 for Mavic Pro Fly More … it's not much of a difference, and IMo the Mavic Pro is the better choice for people serious about droning.

        • Ahh sorry, I read that wrong. I thought you were essentially said Mavic Air Fly More $1800 in store, and $1600 online. Nevermind!

  • I'm leaving for the Overland Track March 23, and I'd love to take one of these with me. You reckon I should preorder now, or will I be able to save $100-200 before then if I wait a month? Or even, will I be able to walk into a store and buy the Fly More package for $1599 if no discounts happen?

    • +1

Just wait until they're available in store

    • +1

Haha, this is actually the date we had planned originally to do the overland, but we have had to push back to later in the year. I was contemplating taking my mavic pro but decided it would be too big/heavy, however I think I will upgrade to the Mavic Air before I go abd take that instead :) would love to know/see how you go with it and the overland!
