Just beware of flame retardants that can be found in these products

Also this one has a solution

In fact, one company has answered our longtime call. UPPAbaby unveiled a new seat for 2017 specially designed to contain no added FRs yet still meet the flammability standards. To our knowledge, the MESA Henry will be the first car seat free of added FR chemicals on the market.

The UPPAbaby MESA is only for the American market (or at least it was as of 2015). Have you got a source saying that it's going to be available locally?

The best solution I have found is the Britax Millenia, which uses Thermo5 fabric - no flame retardants, it's bamboo-based. I haven't bought one yet but I plan to in the next few months.

      • Sadly no, even on the website of their official partner.According to their website it only out last April. So Im waiting for Amazon deal comes around and grab one

      • How much are we talking about here ? for the Britax Millenia

        • I just put it on layby today for about $394. You can price beat other retailers through Babies R Us (I learned this on OzB!) The person who arranged it didn't even check the other retailer though, so YMMV. I am planning on price beating some other big-ticket items through them if I can, but glad that one's out of the way. We decided in the end not to buy a capsule.

        • @Zenyatta: Hey, thanks for the response. I have internet-black-out for the last 6days. Anywho, I can get a UPPAbaby MESA Infant Car Seat, Jake for AUD $308 ( still trying to figure it out the shipping rate ). But yeah it is good to know that there are others option

        • @Zenyatta: Nvm my bad it cost USD $199 to ship to AU … I might have to go with that Britax

        • @frewer: You can't use American car seats in Australia unfortunately - they don't meet the Australian safety standards and I'm fairly sure it's actually against the law and that you can get into some trouble if your child is injured using one. From reading into it it seems like Australian standards might be the among highest in the world which limits our access to products from other countries.

        • @Zenyatta: Right law and order, thanks for that insight … So how do you get it for $394 ? There is no Babies R Us in my town … but there is a Toyr R Us some though. I can get it -10% with gift card.

        • @frewer: find another retailer doing it cheaper and price match them. Baby Bounce was where I checked. Check the Toys R us policy but they need to be in the same city, item needs to be in stock and not on clearance/liquidation etc and not online only.

        • @Zenyatta: Right, thank you for that.

  • So disappointed that this doesn’t come with ISOFIX connection.

  • Ok deal. But you can regularly pick up a few of the award winning seats (with isofix) on ebay for half price. This is a third off rrp. So it's just an average ebay deal really. My wife is expecting in April so have been doing plenty of research.

    • Fair enough.

I think it was the RACV site that rated the Compaq as safe as the higher models within the Britax range.

We opted for the Platinum Pro as we also preferred ISOFIX, but was deciding against the Compaq based on the (then lesser) price difference and slimline fit.

    • Agree, average deal. have purchased before, two for $399 (from this retailer).

Great seats tho, the slimline model is ideal for those who require 3 seats in one row.
