I wasn't looking to buy this camera recently, so I missed the wonderful good guys $619 deal. but this one is not too bad, together with the EFTPOS Card, would bring the price down to 569, then with cashrewards, it's another $20ish off.

Instead of buying from dodgy grey imports which don't offer normal warranty, I bought this deal.

Negging cause cheaper elsewhere IF YOU DON'T MIND THE COLOUR

  • Yes cheaper at digidirect

  • Digital Camera Warehouse have it for $679

    https://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/sony-a6000-16-50mm…

  • Should I get this or is the A6300 worth it for the 4K?
    Need a camera asap…

    • Depends how much video you record. The camera is in just about every way identical… Personally, I wouldn't bother looking at the a6300.
It's either the A6000 if you're not big on recording video and want to save some cash, or the A6500 if the opposite is true.

      • I was mostly going to use it for recording video, just wasn't sure of the price points being worth it.

        • Don't get me wrong, it still does lovely crisp 1080p, but if video is your primary purpose, you've got to go with the A6500.
Main benefits are the image stabilisation and the 4K.
CameraPro has it for $1500 atm - here
Or DigiDirect has them for $1650 with the sony 16-50mm lens here (probably the better deal).

Or if you're content buying grey, then you can pick one up at a few other shops for $1500 and claim the sony cashback getting it in at around $1300.

Still twice the price of the A6000 though, but if you want one, now's probably the best time to buy for a while (IMO).

        • @ToastySteve:

I might get a A6500 in the future, but for now I'm tossing up between the A6000 or A6300 so there's no difference in terms of video quality between them?

Edit: Went ahead and got the A6000 from digidirect.

        • @superezra: The A6300 is superior to the A6000 in many aspects. The main advantage are metal body, rework on the sensor to capture more light, much densor phase detection for faster and more accurate focus, and 4k movies.

        • @ToastySteve:

So I bought from Digi Direct and i think it is grey.. came with a china chord + doesn't seem brand new (no screen protector on the screen and yeah… do you know if it would not be brand new?

        • @superezra: If it's from Digidirect, it's definitely grey. It should however, be brand new.
Out of the box they won't come with a screen protector, so that's not a good indicator, but if you're pretty sure it isn't new, and the item you definitely purchased was supposed to be (not refurbished or something), then you can take it up with them. They'll definitely replace it. If there are no marks on it and everything is working fine though, I probably wouldn't bother.

Find some blue sky or clean white wall or similar and take a few snaps. Have a look at them and make sure there are no smudges, blotches, or anything noticeable coming out.
