Sony usually run this promo twice a year

Good time to pick up some lenses or camera body.

I'd wait for a digidirect or camerapro 15% off Sony sale to stack the deals for an even better price.
If you purchase at a sony kiosk they will give you the gift card straight away, no need to redeem via the form/post.

I was really hoping the 85mm F/1.8 would be on the list this time but it's not :(

Gift card values vary with item bought. Visit https://promotions.sonyanz.com/eftposgiftcard#faqs for the full table

Thanks OP, I was waiting for this promo too. Will buy when eBay has 20% off again :)

    • The PRESSY should still be on. I wish I had waited for this, just bought a used A7R2

    • Which stores you looking at to buy to claim this eftpos gift card promo? I see Ted's Camera eBay, but am now asking Ted eBay message, whether this is eligible for the promo, if buy from their eBay store instead of store/online.

      • I bought from Teds ebay last year and I was able to claim eftpos cards, no issues.

        • Yes, but because there's terms here, not sure last year terms:

"Lay-by and purchases from duty-free, discounted or clearance eBay sales, parallel import stores and second hand purchases/retailers are excluded from this promotion."

        • +2

@mooreshady: there were same terms last year, where it said ebay sales are not valid. But you receive a normal receipt from Teds ebay sale. So no issue with cashback.

        • @ShinyDiamond: will give it a try! The PREZZY expires tomorrow. Have a day to wait for their response anyways

        • @mooreshady: the last time I bought from Teds ebay store, I got a printed receipt from the Teds shop

        • @Superannuation:

          Hi all,

I got the sony eftpos for TEDS eBay.

Got the 28mm, so got the $100 eftpos card 2 days ago.

      • The T&C for the Sony promo specifically say "discounted or clearance eBay sellers" are not eligible, so I'm a bit wary. I'd argue 20% off is a discounted eBay seller, right?
In any case, please report back your findings!

        • +1

The thing is, once you receive the invoice you wont even see if its bought via eBay neither does it reflect the “sale” price. Your invoice will show that you bought from Ted’s at full price

        • Don't think there is a way for Sony to link your Teds or Ryda invoice to an ebay sale so should be all good :)

  • Gone back up to $150 for the A6000, nice! Was only $100 last time for me :(

Runs through til end of Jan, so keep an eye for those post-Christmas sales too.

    • +1

yeah, a6500 included this time as well

    • has that gone up? I pretty sure a friend bought that model a couple of years ago for ~ $575

      • There were some crazy deals back then

        Not so much now

With the gift card taken in to account I got mine for 579 in July

  • I can't find a list of authorised retailers. Their link just takes me to a map search application when a complete list would serve better. Does anyone have access to that information?

    • should be any store listed on their store locator

"..to qualify for the eftpos Gift Card your eligible Sony Camera or Lenses must be purchased (excludes lay-by purchases) from a participating Sony Australia Authorised Dealer. Duty free stores, discounted or clearance eBay sellers, parallel import stores and second hand retailers are excluded from the promotion.

      • Yeah… that works. Still wanted a list though.

        • Over here at point 5

To be eligible to claim, individuals must purchase either outright or with retailer finance an Eligible Product (being an Eligible Camera Body or Eligible Camera Lens (defined below) from a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer during the Purchase Period and the purchase must not have been made under any other offer or discount provided by a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer (“Qualifying Purchase”).

Participating Sony Australia authorised dealers include, but are not limited to: JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Camera House, Ted’s Cameras, Michaels, Diamonds, Digi Direct, Video Pro, Sony Centre, Sony Store Online, Georges, Digital Camera Warehouse, Myer, Costco, Photo Continental, Camera Pro, Camera Electronic, Bing Lee, and The Good Guys.

@windows7: Thank you kindly dear sir. I feel silly for not seeing it myself, but it's nice to have fellow ozbargainers have your back.

          Thank you!

  • Says can’t be used with eBay sellers but I’m fairly sure teds and other camera stores don’t mention eBay on the tax invoice :)

    • I think it's talking more about grey import/refurbish/wholesale ebay sellers etc

shouldn't have any issue with official stores.

As I mentioned in the OP, it's good to stack when the camera stores run their 15% off sony sales

      • ted's, digi, camerastore, .. are fine.

Sony ebay store wont work because they are refurb

    • +1

I've redeemed an offer from Ted's in the past, and my most recent purchase from their ebay store did come with a standard store invoice. e.g. no mention of ebay.

      • You do need to provide a credit/debit invoice though too if not paid in cash, which would show the discount and storefront I believe. Perhaps they're cracking down on it?

        • What discount?

        • +1

          @Orpheus:
PREZZY code still works for Ted's Ebay, for example, so that's 20% off.

        • @Anders: You are still paying the full price. There should be no discount on the invoice. eBay covers the 20%.

        • +3

Just checked the receipt and the debit invoice did not show any discount. No way to tell that it wasn't bought either from the physical or their own online store.

    • I bought from the digidirect ebay store last xmas (a7 and a sony FE 35mm lens). I worried about the eftpos card as it said ebay sellers were excluded. However, digidirect sent a separate invoice to the ebay invoice. I got my ny eftpos card ($200) with no issues at all.

I think the wording is there to exclude gray market sellers listed on Ebay. If you have an authorised seller of Au stock like Digidirect, Videopro on ebay they don't tend to mind (at least they haven't so far).

  • $500 for Sony A7Rii. Wow! Always been $400 only.

    • +2

Old models usually get bigger discounts.

  • For some reason they want to see credit card receipt as well, not only the tax invoice. For ebay purchases those could show different figures, tax invoice with the full price and paypal receipt with 20% less. I'm not sure if this cause an issue.

    • Wrong. Paypal receipt shows the full price.

      • +1

Check your paypal email again. Mine clearly shows the discount.

        • And? It shows the total price. That is what is paid.

        • @Orpheus:

Oh God's sake! Total price paid shown in the paypal receipt is less than the the total price shown in the retailer's invoice! Just compare your old emails before replying again.

        • @Sharp: The total price is the same on both.

  • bah. SEL18200 on the list of lens .

  • RX100 V went up to $150, was $100 in July.

  • +1

Be careful…Ted's invoice apparently now does mention it is via eBay if purchased via their eBay store. That would mean it is ineligible for the promotion based on what the T & C's state.

Looks like that are cracking down on the eBay sales relative to this promotion.

    • +1

      Hi xxxxx,

Yes, you are eligible as long as the purchase complies with the requirements outlined by Sony Australia.

It would be best to red through the full terms and conditions on he Sony Australia website.

      Cheers,

      xxxxx

      Ted's Online Support

as per ebay message. eBay should be included as is not discounted. Anyone bought from Teds recently to confirm the receipt? @angers, did you have?

      • Ummm….eBay 20% off sale is discounted. Anyway Ted's confirmed with me via phone that their tax invoice specifically mentions eBay 20% off sale (if purchased via their eBay store). Like I said buyer beware if you expect a bonus EFTPOS card.

        • I doubt it matters if the camera has been discounted or not. I bought the RX100 V from JB during their last camera sale when the previous promotion was running and the receipt clearly showed it was marked down. As long as it's and eligible retailer I'm sure it will be fine.

    • +3

Stop spreading misinformation. They have always honoured cashbacks and EFTPOS cards from any of the Australian eBay sponsered stores.

      • -1

        Except Sony ebay store

        • Huh? Why wouldn't they?

        • @Orpheus:

          Refurbs

        • @aldoduco: Where was it ever advertised that refurbs are eligible for cashback?

        • @Orpheus:

you are asking why wouldn't they. answer is because they only sell refurbs.

        • @aldoduco: Well its pretty common sense that if you buy used you dont get promotional cashbacks.

  • Anything worth getting on click frenzy with Sony website and this?

  • Thanks OP, have been looking for A6500 body throughout the eBay sale. Buy now or wait hmmm

  • +1

so is it safe to buy from Teds or not?

    • Does not look like it.

      • I may give it a try regardless. Calculated some costs, is still cheaper to buy at their ebay store than instore or online for a lens i need.

Will update you guys if i can get the eftpos card. Fingerscrossed!

  • +1

For anyone interested, https://www.ebay.com.au/usr/ryda-online is also part of this promo. I Called and the rep confirmed this since they get their stock from Camera House. Use prezzy for 20% the ebay store. I just picked up an A6500 body ($200 eftpost) + 16-70mm lens ($200 eftpos) Total cost $2304 and I'll take it out for a TRS refund also :)

    • But the invoice will show Ryda Online not Camera House?
And Ryda is not in this list https://store.sony.com.au/stores-search

      • The guy I spoke to was adamant that I would be eligible. I got this in writing from them: ( I asked if they could confirm the deal)

"We are currently awaiting clarification, on this topic as they do mention that eBay sales do not Qualify. Once we have confirmation I will let you know.

Currently only purchases from our Main website qualify and not our eBay store. Please advise if you wish to be advised once we have confirmation."

Since they said main website is OK it means ebay is ok too since the invoice will be the same.

    • +2

I can confirmed that I claimed cashback from last June/July promo via purchase from RYDA.

      • Awesome, thank you for sharing. Do you remember if back then they were listed on the promotion page?

        • +2

Nope. They are not listed but they are eligible.

They literally been using the same T&C every year and don't bother to update them. You can tell when they have been using Photo Continental for ages although it had went into liquidation 2 years ago.

      • +3

Same here, i got cashback back in june purchased from ryda ebay store. Back then I called sony and they confirmed that ryda was authorised seller.

        • Great news, thanks for confirming.

        • +1

          @points4life:

This wasn’t in the last promotion:

A copy of the store register receipt as proof of purchase of the eligible Sony camera or lenses (Including an eftpos or credit card transaction slip, unless paid in cash)

Before it was just the invoice, now it is invoice and credit card slip. Price wont match

        • @aldoduco: well maybe we paid in cash… :P

  • I want the A7RM2 + 1635z so much :(

    • great combo

    • Do it :P

  • On a slightly related note, has anyone heard back from their Sony X application?

    • nop

  • +1

    From the FAQ's:

Valid claimants who purchase from a participating Sony Australia Authorised Dealer will have their eftpos Gift Card dispatched within 2 – 8 weeks of the Promoter confirming a validated entry.

  • Has anybody called the Sony Promotions hotline -1300 552 492 to validate if Ted's eBay store with the PREZZY code is included or not?

    • I claimed cashback when I purchase from Ted's eBay store. No problem at all.

      • +1

T&C are slightly different this time and more documents need to be provided.

Not saying it wont work, but …

  • +2

Ive spoken with SONY promo line today and they confirmed that the A7RII that I bought late last night from Ted's Ebay with the PREZZY voucher is eligible for the $500 gift card. SWEET. A7RII for under $2800!!

    • +3

Can confirm I was just on the phone doing exactly the same thing. As long as its an authorised seller, it's still eligible even if it's processed through eBay. Good times!!

    • +2

Got a written email confirmation from they as well. Combining that gift card with TRS = kaching~

      • Which Sony email address did you write to? I am still waiting for a written response.

        • Well this is the response I finally received from Sony…

Subject: Sony Customer Service [ ]

          Dear XX,

My name is XX from the Sony Customer Service, I received your inquiry regarding qualifying a product purchase in Ebay (Teds Camera, Video Pro and etc) to the Eft Pos Gift Card. As per our mechanics under number 5.A.
          a. Lay-by and purchases from duty-free, discounted or clearance eBay sales, parallel import stores and second hand purchases/retailers are excluded from this promotion.
Ebay purchases will automatically be disqualified from the promotion.

Please see the terms and conditions on the link below:

          Kind regards,

          @angers:

I called them through the hotline mid-day yesterday but the support person do not have the answer at that time. A couple of hours later that person emailed me with the following response which i took as good.

          Subject: Sony Enquiry - []

          Good Day xx,

I attempted to call you earlier but no to avail, that is why I have decided to send you an E-mail to let you know that we had it clarified by the help of our back end team that regardless if the eBay sale is through an authorised reseller such as Teds or Ryda, the promotions team can let the claim through. Some of the retailers do process sales through their eBay store.

          Regards,

        • @EphemeralEnigma:

You gotta love these overseas call centres these company like Sony use.

        • @angers: I just got an email from SONY confirming that the purchase had been accepted and I will be shortly receiving the $500 gift card.

        • @colspooners:
How long does it take for them to approve your claim?

        • @EphemeralEnigma: got approved within a week. takes another 2 -8 weeks for them to issue the code though.

  • +2

Happy to report that my tax invoice is for the full amount with no mention of ebay (Ryda Online)

    • Cant see ryda in the sony T&C or sony authorised reseller. From the ryda website it looks like they are.

Edited: just read the above post regarding ryda, all good.

  • CameraPro are offering 10% off camera bodies & lenses until Monday

    • Not all models, only selected models.

      • replied to wrong person

  • Hi, I got Price match online at Harvey Norman with The good guys. On my invoice, it shows a discount by code (the code is basically used to reduce the HN price to match with the good guys price). Am I still eligible for this promotion? Got very confused with the condition
"To be eligible to claim, individuals must purchase either outright or with retailer finance an Eligible Product (being an Eligible Camera Body or Eligible Camera Lens (defined below) from a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer during the Purchase Period and the purchase must not have been made under any other offer or discount provided by a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer (“Qualifying Purchase”)."
