    This is friggin awesome!
My only issue is that it's a Lenovo and the CTRL key is in the wrong spot.

    Still a great deal.

I just Googled it and the CTRL key looks like it's in the right spot to me. Or maybe I'm going crazy haha

  • Lenovo is cool!

  • This is an amazing deal and you get an awesome video card ( AMD HD5730 ) that can easily play the latest games unlike all the other i7-720Q laptops deals that come with a HD5470 or Nivida GT335 thas twice as slow.

Only bad thing about it is Sandybridge 32nm CPU's come out this month to early next
chips turbo clock up to 3.7Ghz leaving the mobile i7 720Q and 740Q chips in the dust!

With all the extra enhancements of sandy bridge along with it its probably not the best time to get a high end gaming laptop seeing as they will be much slower in CPU speed VS Intel Sandybridge i7 cores.

Thanks for the hint. Even if i was not intending to buy this laptop, i was looking around for a gamer laptop. Preferably with a Nvidia 470M un SLI.

      • when the new i7s come out the extra power of the cpu's should make up for some of the lack of power in the videocards and a Class 2 Mobility Radeon HD 5730 should be fast enough for most games.
Best bet would be to match a sandybdige cpu with a Class 1 videocard.. check the side list in red on this link its the best resource for laptop videocard and where they rank :)

Screen: 15.6 HD WXGA LED (1366x768)

    Common! Decent deal however :D

  • Laptop at this spec, this price, its freaking awesome!

Only two things I would worry
    1. Overheating…
    2. Lenova!

    Other than that, its perfect!

    • yeah overheating may be a problem as i7

"Lenova" - what is that, an impostor brand?
      <insert sarcasm>

pity the keyboard doesn't have a numpad.. but yeah very good deal!

man this deal sounds awesome in terms of specs vs price but as a true ozbargainer I went to the officeworks website to see if they have it, thereby getting 5% pricematch. No such luck, but I certainly had a good laugh when i put lenovo in the search box and this came back:

    0 products found for "lenovo".
    Did you mean: lemon

If you guys dont like Lenovo,
(personally-the failure rate on Lenovo has been the lowest out of all the brands, but everyone is entitled to whatever they like)

we currently have this HP, thats moving very fast though,
      Core i7, 1gb dedicated graphics, 640gb hdd, 15.6" screen and 6GB Ram,
      for $986.

doesn't HP have one of the highest failure rate of all brand, Asus number 1, HP last

        http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10400447-1.html

Oh and also i7 under $1k!!!!!!

        • Actually according to the full study, HP has the highest failure rate, this is becuase of the Compaq sub brand, Compaq machines are intended to be a cheaper solution and you will notice most Compaq laptops being sub $700.
The reality is you get what you pay for except with Apple which has an unsually high failure rate especially when you consider most of their machines are above $1300.
If you took the sub $1300 HP failure rate out, I am very certain by removing Compaq from the equation the overall failure rate for HP would be much better.
Its all about how you manipulate the data.
Most Asus machines are above $1000, so they are also built differently.

Going by the failure rate MLN sees I can confirm what I am telling you guys here, we sell between 1000-1500 laptop computers per week and the information we collect is very reliable.

      • hey mln, thanks for pointing out the hp deal too. No it's not that we dont like lenovo, it's just that the suggestive output from the OW search string was funny. Personally I think Lenovo laptops are built quite well and have a very low failure rate compared to alot of brands out there - lenovo recently won the hardware refresh tender at my workplace and having used their laptops extensively through the year (throw it in the bag and travel) Im happy to report no dramas from me, or from the senior partners who really treat 'em really rough.

  • We just got this new model into stock today,
its $48 more than this Lenovo and is very comparable, its an Asus laptop.
