The HTC 10 was a lot better in my opinion and happened to be $100 less.
HTC have made a whole lot of great devices recently, but I don't think this is one of them.

    • now that google have bought their (HTC) phone engineers, all 2,000 of them, it will be interesting what HTC do in regards to phones and software support.

      • +1

Well they haven't bought all of HTC's phone engineers, only the main ones.
Also, HTC has proven that they can still churn out great phones since they sold most of their employees. Software support is still ongoing.

    It's actually pretty rubbish.

I've dealt with the whole gamut of phones (don't ask…)

Would rate this FAR down on my list! $400 would buy you an earth-destroying superphone from China that is arguably alot better, nice effort though

    • problem with many china droids is they don't have all the Australian bands, the HTC 10 and this do.

        I wouldn't call that a problem 'per-se'

I've stuck with my current telco for a few years now, bloody awesome deal! I know what bands they use and will use. So I just search for a phone that supports the ones I need it to support.

That being said, I do use a Samsung S8. Purely for the reason… why not? That and the fact I get them at about 50% of retail

        • -1

Samsung S8 supports all Australian bands from Optus, Telstra and Voda , as have the S5, S6 and s7.

Good post. Unfortunately, however, a tough crowd.

too many good phone deals today …. the HTC 10 at under $300 is a benchmark hard to beat.

  • Hmmm Tempted.

  • Phones are supposed to ADD features, not eliminating them! (Just because you want to follow "the cool kid", that certain "fruit company"!)…. rant off

  • $350 if you buy it on amaysim ebay with woolworths and ebay gift card deal.

    • Was $349 with the 20% off eBay deal last time.

      • yes but the deal expired. or maybe wait for another 20% off

  • Loved the phone but the screen is incredibly sensitive. No idea what glass exactly is used but it's very easily scratched

    • Really? so you've scratched your screen already? This supposed to have Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Is it not?

      • Yeah it's GG5, very hard to scratch. I got one on the 20% discount deal. Loving it.

        • How's your battery last? one day or more? (no game, just youtube, google music, facebook and ozbargain:)

        • @jassssone: yeah I get a full day, I use Strava (gps heavy) twice a day and use Facebook a bit and surf ozb, etc. But I'm not on my phone all day.

        • @deva22:
Thanks mate, do you have the dual sim version or single sim version? Ta

        • @jassssone: dual SIM, but only run 1 Sim. 2nd sim slot doubles as sd card slot, so can't have both.

        • @deva22: Cheers, I am going to buy one now:)

        • @deva22: Isn't the second sim on this model a 2G slot only?

        • @jassssone: That's weird as amaysim ebay stated it was a single sim version

        • @FowlParliament:
There are Single Version and Dual Version on the market.

        • @jassssone: Yes I know that, but amaysim specifically stated their version was a single sim version so I'm wondering how come you ended up with a dual sim version. Did you not buy from amaysim?

        • @FowlParliament:
Long story short, I asked Amaysim which version, they replied SINGLE, then I gave up, but people bought from them and reported back that they all received DUAL version, so the rep made wrong statement while that deal was expried.
I just bought one from DWI 2 hours ago, $360 - 5% Code - Ebay discount GC, around $307. works out cheaper than last Amaysim deal.

        • @jassssone: Damn that rep!

        • @FowlParliament:

they have both version in hong kong, but I think only the dual version have stock, and it is selling $2300hkd currently.

  • I bought one from DWI Ebay store, $360 - 5% Code - Ebay discount GC, around $307.
