          @Kangal: At least I'm consistent.

  • Nice. Is there any 38mm chronograph for men?

  • +8

I’m slightly wary of Jomashop, I bought a “new” watch from them recently, it arrived promptly, and physically appeared to be “as new”, however the battery was completely depleted and they offered me no recompense for the $60-$85 (depending on the jeweler quoting the replacement) the new battery and pressure test would cost. I’m also aware they have huge discounts on the watches available, arguably enough to cover the cost of any battery replacement for most models sold, and still be a decent saving. Any purchaser should keep this in mind, especially for older models e.g. my watch was released 2015, purchased 2018

    • +2

$60-85 for a battery replacement.. What a rip off. You can change the battery yourself for less than $10 of reusable tools, a couple of $ for the battery.

If you want the pressure test afterwards, I'm sure it can be found on its own cheaper than what, $50?

      • Even those franchises charge less at $45, my independent charges $15. You sir got ripped off.

      • +5

Sorry but you have no idea. Lucky you don't own a luxury watch then you would really understand the meaning of rip off when it comes to servicing and pressure testing etc.

        • +3

Indeed my wife’s watch cost 120 from memory, didn’t want to give a 10k watch to bob from shoe repair to do a battery replacement.

        • +2

True. My patek went service for nearly $2k jeez.

        • +1

          @cminez: Yowza!

        • +1

Yes well we are talking about Tissot here, all sub-$1k.

Of course the servicing on a luxury watch is going to be higher, but since you indicated it had a battery, I assumed it was a pretty standard quartz movement, not exactly rocket science to service.

        • +2

          @mikedenoob:

Genuine curiosity, what $10k Watch has a battery?

Omega want $800 to service my PO (automatic), but by the sounds of it they replace a fair few parts and you can basically get it back to looking brand new.

        • @Mitch889:
          Patek makes quartz watches too.

        • @Jaeger LeCoultre:
          So does Brietling.

        • +1

@dlakers3peat: Interesting, learn something every day!

        • @Mitch889: omega deville, I got quoted from omega battery change/service for 260-268 around there. Searched online for alternative found Max Schweizer pretty sure they did it for $120 could’ve been 160 can’t remember anymore.

        • @Jaeger LeCoultre:
And the same thing i've said many a time, if you're buying a pp quartz, you're not buying a real pp.

        • @mikedenoob: Max is good, I used him to service my basic patek too.

        • @zeomega: Yes so true. I guess it's mainly targeted to those ladies (or guys) who only want to buy the brand but don't give a $&@! about what's inside.

        • @Jaeger LeCoultre: Is there such thing as a 'basic' Patek? Hehe

        • @dlakers3peat: breitling battery charged is a ripped off. It only lasted for 1year whilst Hermes and Omega battery lasted 3 years for me and is only 20% of the price of Breitling!

    • i have no doubt jomashop buy the older stock, bulk lots etc.. probably keep a lot of stock on hand.Yours probably sat in the warehouse for 2 years before you got it.

I've got a Quartz watch that some would argue isnt luxury but i would argue it is, its battery only lasted 2 years and i know production was less than a month from when it landed on my wrist (face was a custom colour)

      • I just think they’d be wiser selling it with some sort of obvious caveat that the battery might not be functional, hence the cost. A little bit more transparency would leave less of a bad taste when it arrives, especially if it were intended as a gift. @dlakers3peat knows what’s up, and for the others playing at home, I only got quotes from authorized repair centers for this particular brand of Swiss watch, not some alley shop or mall-stall job. Thanks for the feedback nonetheless, my same jeweler repaired my wife’s DKNY for $15, the Joma purchase is more involved.

  • +12

Had a $1000 tissot once , died just outside of warranty - cost to fix $300. Company couldn't care less. Never again.

    • +2

      How far outside warranty?

      • A month or so if I recall correctly and well before apple and others opened up about statutory warranties

    • +8

I had exactly the same experience. Bought one for $900, it broke after 2 and half years.
They wanted $460 to repair it.

Imo these are rubbish quality watches backed by a rubbish company, never again. Purchase at own risk.

    • Got stung by the Tissot brand also many years ago. Purchased while in the US. There must be Tissot and Tissot?? watches.

  • +8

    Any Vacheron Constantine deals?

    • Not yet. Especially not a Royal Oak.

        VC Royal Oak?
        Typo perhaps?

        • +2

Ha! Not properly awake yet! I confused Vacheron Constantin with Audemars Piguet!

  • No T-Touch? Wanted to get one to replace my very aging one..

    • +2

I saw some T-Touch Solar models for $825 at Angus & Coote (Carousel WA). That is an awesome price with full warranty.

One was the T091.420.46.051.01, at least one other had the full rubber strap.

      • +1

For that specific model, that is an unbeatable price.

    • 41 - ♂ Tissot T-Race Touch Aluminium Black Dial T0814209705706 Model Facts: Video:

Your grandkids will go wow a Chinese made watch!

  • +5

Which one suits better with my top of the line AMG Merc A200 ?

    • +4

Depends where you put it. The one for steering might be different than the one for tyres.

    • +7

A200 is hardly top of the line…. as a matter of fact I heard it being referred to as the “poverty pack”. Tissot will be fine for you as it is hardly a luxury watch either

      • +7

What are you talking about? The A200 top of the line chart topping car is a sound financial investment too. I know I work at bank as anaylist. (Aka Faxing docs and data entry and doing filing)

        • I believe every word of that.

      • +5

        That' the joke bro.

    • lol.. AMG sticker on A200? Why not get the last of the line real AMG A45? or the C43 for a poverty pack equivalent?

    • +1

A lot of people with faulty joke detectors here.

The answer is a combo of cheapest price/biggest face so the Tissot branding is most obvious.

Also, get the A200 badge taken off, just leave the AMG badge.

    • Did it cost you $80,000?

  • +3

Thank you for the time and effort you put into this post PJC, you’re awesome.

  • +3

Even though the effort the OP put into this post is amazing, for some reason I find this post very unusual.

    • +3

Great isn't it? Imagine if everyone posted deals in the same style, how boring.

  • +3

    Which of these are genuine?

    • -5

Tissot is the lowest 'luxury' tier of the Swatch group.

I doubt anyone bothers to fake a low end swiss watch.

      • +3

That's where you are wrong, the most counterfeited watches on the market are low end watches as like minded people such as yourself assume that they wont be counterfeited, so you don't ever bother getting it checked. If you were to buy a watch over $1k, then chances are you will get it checked to make sure it is real. Google counterfeited Casio and Tissot watches, you'll be suprised as to how many Tissot watches are counterfeited.

        • +1

Tonnes of Tissot fakes out there such as PRC200, 516 and their chrono versions. Some of the fake PRC 200 even have the same ETA quartz. I've even seen fakies on ebay. Same with Tissot SS bracelets, buckles, clasps and deployant buckles. The counterfeiters even make SKX's.

    • I'd be very cautious buying from ebay seller Timetowatchyou, they do have 100% feedback but provide no warranty and seem to be using Jomashop pics for their listings.

  • -5

Tissot is like buying a Gensis made by Nissan

Cheap luxury, but at its core, it’s just cheap

    • +4

      Did you maybe mean, Hyundai?

    • That's awesome, but the Genesis is made by Hyundai.

    • +5

Lol. At least get your branding right before you put out Cheap comments. lol

    • -1

      LoL

      Yeah the Hyundai

Point is you are better buying a swatch

Than pretend you are buying a real Swiss watch that is neither cheap or fancy

    • Ok, what brands would you reccommend?

  • +2

Alas no visodate. Still kicking myself for not picking one up on amazon prime day 2016 for 300 usd.

    • Dammit! I've been after a Visodate for a few months now…

      • was thinking visodate got this victorinox instead 241666. check it out, feels better than my entry longines…

        • Looks quite nice, although I don't really like the beige face :(

        • @Changskies, Where did u get your victorinox 241666?

    • +1

That was a good price. Consider this …

  • +4

    Any barga… Oh.

    • +2

We like to see prices. Bargains have prices.

      • New profile pic?

        • No, Member jv provided that photo and I use it for lazy vendors.

  • +2

I appreciate the considerable time it took you to put this together.

Also, anyone considering a watch with the Powermatic 80 movement, it has an amazing 80 hours power reserve! I do believe they have reduced the beat rate though to save power. Considering most autos are ~40 hours this is pretty handy if it's part of a rotation.

    • +1

Yes, 80 hours is impressive. No. 34 above comes to $436.91.

  • +1

    Great work OP!

  • Very extensive post, must have taken a while to put together!

Now on the subject of watches, Tissot is not a brand I would recommend, unless it's a rare vintage model or something. A JDM Seiko at comparable price would have an in-house automatic movement and better workmanship. And if you want Swiss made, there is heaps on the second hand market - you could be looking at a Rolex/Omega/Zenith - I.e. real Swiss made luxury watches

  • +1

Not really into watches but what an effort to detail everything !!

    • +1

You'll come around, I didn't wear one for a long time either.

  • Any recommendations for a good watch with brown leather straps? Preferably, eco drive like (no need batery)… Very noob when it comes to watches, not a Banking Analyst unfortunately.

    • +1
