Groupon marketing is going nuts lately. So far there's been around 13 different appwide or sitewide discounts in the last 30 days, all of which have short expiry of 1 or 2 days.

    • +3

true. may be they just want people to visit their site/app frequently. The more you see it, more the chances of buying. Psychological.

  • So likely to be 5% or has anyone hit the 30% jackpot yet?

    • Brita jug with four filters. Didn't buy though.

Pretty sure the discount is dependent on the deal and not the user.

  • Wonder if they'll give more discount if purchasing via app not desktop?

  • +8

It’s not really random… it’s already preset, food, massages and hotels are all 15% and the shopping items are like 10%, who knows what’s 30%

    • +1

So it's just hidden discounts. The mystery is that they won't tell you what the discount is until you're about to buy it.

    • +2

Nowhere it is mentioned that the discount will be Random.

    • Got an India meal for 20% off

  • I dunno what the hype with CW is - I don't find their prices as cheap on most items.

They just have those fluro yellow/pink price tags to make it look like the price has been discounted

  • 25% off squash membership! Woo!

Their postage always puts me off. I wish they could have a central shipping process and allow multiple items to be bought with 1 shipping charge for small items.

    • +1

Groupon is just a website not an online store. It is like expecting to combine shipping costs when buying from different sellers on ebay. Won’t happen of course.

      • Amazon fulfill department does it in certain countries so it is doable depending upon on the business case.

        • That's because Amazon store the products in their warehouse. Neither eBay nor Groupon does that (or even have warehouses).
