  • Is there 2 thicknesses? Carpet & Underlay 7 - 12mm thick, Carpet & Underlay up to 6mm thick?

    • Hi @tlai, this version is our economical chair mat so we only manufacture that in one thickness.

      • So what thickness of carpet would this be recommended for please? And could you also please define "light usage". I'm presuming there is no warranty on this version (I'm looking at the lipped with grippers version)?

Passwords still stored in plain text?

    • Hi @Rorschach, we dont have access to this information it is all managed through Magento CMS www.magento.com.

      • +1

Oh, but you do. That's the reason the passwords are mailed to us in plain text.

    • Yes it is still happening

Still using the same password for every website?

    • Bought this last time, and they sent my password in plain text in their email. There is no need to send passwords by email and shows very poor concern for customer information. @lorindor - agree we should never have the same password for multiple sites - it still does not excuse the company from poor management of customer details.

      • Also, i can't find any option to delete my account from your site.

Only the password is being delivered in plain text, their payment system however uses an SSL, which is the thing you should be concerned about.

          Thanks for letting us know.

  • Hi Matshop, any chance of a deal for a door mat like you’ve done in the past like this:
    https://www.matshop.com.au/diamond-pattern-dual-level-polypr…

    Cheers!

    • Hi @john_conner what colour were you looking at? We were going to post the Green 60 x 90cm as soon as we can.

Hello, Thanks for the prompt reply. Charcoal would be best for me.

      • +2

I would also be interested in the charcoal coloured door mat.

      • I'll grab two of the charcoal ones if they go on special

Previously when I bought a chair mat it started cracking in a very short amount of time.

I am no lightweight (120kg) but is this the norm with these ?

    • I got mine years ago from Officeworks, but it was $79.

It's cracked now but it's over a decade old.

Have no idea about these ones though.

I bought from Matshop about 6 months ago, and my mat is still fine, no cracks or signs of wear.

I'm a similar weight to you, and work from home, so the mat gets a good workout.

      • May I ask what thickness is your carpet?

        • Wouldn't have a clue. I rent and while the house was recently renovated it's got the same shitty 30+ year old carpet

    • +1

Mine cracked as well, so disappointed with the quality.

  • Thanks. Grabbed one.
Now to re-varnish the area I stupidly used the computer chair on without a mat.

  • Bought this last time, about 2 months ago. Quality is very good and should last quite a while.
Recommended, but take note of comments re password above.

  • Hey OP, I want these mats but not for putting under a chair.
I want to put these in the kitchen so the tile grout doesn't go black every few months.

I plan to cover the tiles in kitchen preparation/cooking area so anything dropped would be caught by these and not the tiles.

Last time you posted, you also had the 120 x 152cm rectangle hard floor (without grippers) available for a special price. (I believe it was $33, but I may be wrong)

I have been hanging out since that previous deal was taken off.

Any chance for a special on the 120 x 152cm rectangle hard floor mat ?

    I will probably need two.

    Thanks

Rep, can you please clarify the warranty and expected lifetime on these PVC mats? The guarantee section says 6 month warranty, while the top of the site says 365 day money back guarantee? Most of your other mats come with 4 year warranties - can you explain why these are so much shorter? How long are these expected to last (providing the correct mat type is chosen to match the carpet pile height?)

Comments from past matshop plastic chair mats:
"Great price but mine cracked in a few places after about a year of use"
"I bought mine back in 2015 […] started showing cracks in less than 12 months of use which was disappointing."
"The last time i purchased a mat it broke within months, and they dont stand behind their products. They use as many excuses as they can find."
"They told me that i must have used it incorrectly, for cracks to develop, they said they would need to send someone to measure my carpet pile"
"I have one that i've been using for about 1.5 years. It has 5 cracks in it now (2 larger ones on each side). Although i never contacted them so i have no idea what their support is like. Just be aware they are good value but cracks will appear after use, especially as it nears the 1 year mark."
"I purchased one last year and it cracked on my carpet which i consider to be pretty average. 6mm is some short carpet and/or paper thin underlay!"
"Same thing happened to mine bought from Matshop from the last deal. They cracked just after 2 months of use."

Pretty sure the cheaper ones (like the ones on special for $21 and $31 use 'different' materials.

There are these ones (https://www.matshop.com.au/chair-mats/hard-floor-chair-mats) which though slightly bigger, are more expensive at nearly a $100 or more. And these come with a 4 year warranty. It says so even in the main link.

      • Exactly - if these only last 6 months before you have to replace them, then they are not economical at all in the long run… I’m confused by how can you have a 365 money back guarantee with a 6 month warranty product??

        • The ones in officeworks start at $39 and go upto $599 (not a typo)
          https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/SearchDisplay?searchTerm…

That is probably a testimony to the fact that different materials/quality make them last longer

        • @51ngh: the Officeworks $39 is carpet - the cheapest one at matshop for carpet is $33…. if you replace them every 8 months, then after 4 years you will have spent $198… making the premium matshop mats a much better buy than the budget one
