How to protect Samsung S8 Screen?

What does everyone use to protect this fragile phone? I recently dropped my so, cracking the screen fromnwaistnheight and I was wondering about the best way to protect the screen. I've tried to use a nuslab tempered glass screen protector but unfortunately my touchscreen lost responsiveness. Thank you for your help!

I believe the only way to protect the s8 screen is to store the phone in your sock drawer and use Bluetooth.

I leave mine in the box it came in. So far the screen still looks like the day I bought it

  • You don't need to protect the screen.

Invest in a genuine Samsung clear case or something like a spigen case. I have dropped my S7 Edge multiple times. The screen never breaks or scratches because the case is designed in a way to protect it.

    • I dropped it from waist height and the screen cracked :( im extremely scared now after paying $220 to repair it

      • Try spigen

        • I have spigen ultra hybrid right now haha

      • Would you mind sharing the place you repaired. Please PM me.

I dropped my S8 this morning while taking out from pocket, on to the concrete path and it hit the edge and the glass was complete smashed to the area where the power button is. The screen doesn't respond anymore. I couldn't find any place to replace the screen anywhere close to $220.

    • This is like saying: I've never worn a seat belt and have had many car accidents but haven't been seriously injured yet.

      • Or you know, it's just a really good case.

What a dumb analogy. My phone isn't going to whine about how I keep dropping it. I've given it all the protection that's necessary without turning it into a armoured truck.

        • it's just a really good case.

This does not guarantee the screen will be safe forever, but a screen protecter does.

The protector on my phone is 0.2mm thick and is tempered glass, so it sounds like you're either lazy, or ignorant, or both.

It sounds like you're just a hateful person. You're probably one of those people that lives in a house of rubber with no sharp corners. Why does it bother you about how others use their phones. If glass protectors were necessary, every phone manufacturer would be putting warning labels on their products.

Phones don't need glass protectors and feel much nicer to use without cheapo glass on it. Why bother touching a $20 screen protector when I can place my fingers on the much nicer gorilla glass?

This does not guarantee the screen will be safe forever, but a screen protecter does.

A screen protector ruins the experience and introduces refraction. NO one uses a phone forever, especially someone who changes phones every 2 years like me.

That is a ridiculous assumption to make simply because I use a screen protector on my phone.

It really doesn't, but when people like you get online and start spreading rubbish about things they clearly know nothing about, I feel it's important to call it out.

I never said they were necessary, but if you care about the protection and maintenance of your smartphone's screen, you should definitely use one.

A decent screen protector will feel the same as the phone's screen, so obviously you have only used cheap eBay specials and have based your opinion off of that.

As stated in my last reply, good screen protectors barely add thickness to your screen.

Try a different glass screen protector

      Any recommendations?

      • I would give cheap ones on eBay ago.

        • yea the nuglas one i had was a cheap one, $10 and it didnt do a good job, made screen unresponsive and couldnt stick well.

  • Use all around case like LifeProof Fre.

I use the official Samsung brand plastic screen protector along with the official Samsung brand Alcantara case. Before that I also had the phone get cracked from a waist high drop, it's extremely fragile. Why they chose to make it out of glass I'll never understand.

As far as I know, screen protectors are for scratches and cases are for cracks.

  • Had my S8 since release with no case no damage at all aside from the sides having a few minor scuffs

Best way to check if it needs protection is to run the phone over with your car.

  • We dropped our S8, cracked the screen and abandoned it, $299 to fix the screen at Samsung is insanely expensive. Now using a LG V20 (with a Spigen Case) - dropped a few times, still pristine.

  • Edit : woops just saw the mention of thr spigen case

Usually the lip will prevent impact to the screen, make sure there's a lip to the case

For the iPhone X i bought a speck case (presidio ultra) with the fattest bumper

    • Unfortunately because of the curved screen of the s8, you can't have a lip infront on the screen

  • You cant protect the screen of this phone coz its like you said, its fragile af.

Maybe use something like this when storing it.

  • The protection a screen cover provides is practically nil. Buy a good quality case instead.

  • Have you ever thought about one of those stick-on-the-back finger-hole things.
I have NEVER dropped mine, because you either have it in your pocket, (or wherever) or attached to your finger.

  • I bought a bolt case from cellphonecases.com
I have dropped my s8 from 7mts without the clip case attached and not a scratch. They cost about $35.
The screen protector is good but you need to press harder than usual.
Also if you pay your monthly phone payments with the explorer card you can claim 2x new screens per year and you pick the repairer and pay only 10%.
Ask me for more details if interested.

    • Does the explorer card have a $395pa fee? If so, that fee would cover a coupe of screens each year, or is there a way to get the fee waived?

  • there is ONLY ONE screen protector for an s8… if u dont own it your proctector will always peel and/or u will lose alot of response from the phone.

its called a "whitestone dome glass s8"
a bit expensive but i would have sold my s8 already without it..

    youtube it. look up reviews.
