  • Please put the podium code in your post because atm it looks like the $323.19 price tag is before the eBay discount.

Yeah added, it seems like it was there as a template but I still had to fill it in manually.

props to you associated-OP you're the first one in a while to be aware that 10%+10% doesn't = 20%

It's a sad world when we have not improved on the problems of their/they're/there (on top of the maths problem of having a discount on a discount). I shall quote you a nice poem about the English language -

I take it you already know
Of tough and bough and cough and dough?
Others may stumble, but not you,
On hiccough, thorough, lough and through?
Well done! And now you wish, perhaps,
To learn of less familiar traps?
Beware of heard, a dreadful word
That looks like beard and sounds like bird,
And dead: it's said like bed, not bead -
For goodness sake don't call it deed!
Watch out for meat and great and threat
(They rhyme with suite and straight and debt)

A moth is not a moth in mother,
Nor both in bother, broth in brother,
And here is not a match for there
Nor dear and fear for bear and pear,
And then there's dose and rose and lose -
Just look them up - and goose and choose,
And cork and work and card and ward,
And font and front and word and sword,
And do and go and thwart and cart -
Come, come, I've hardly made a start!
      A dreadful language? Man alive!
I'd mastered it when I was five!

I used my Sony WH-1000XM2 to listen to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRe-j2EC1j8 blocked out all the city traffic noise so I could maximise my listening joy.

These are better than the Bose QC35's
Source: I own the Sony's and not the Bose.

        • +6

So how do you know the Sony is better than the Bose? Unless you have done quite an extensive comparison test.

        • @edfoo: To be fair, a lot of reviewers have stated the Sony outperforms the Bose in sound quality, and NC is basically equal. Bose is better on comfort.

        • @sm007h:
do you have the bose qc35 for sale ? :(

        • @jay0514: Hi, sorry, every time we get stock of QC35s, it goes straight to our backorders so we do not have any spares to sell to the ozbargain community.

        • @sm007h: I know, I am just asking Scoobth based on his personal experience. JimsReview on YouTube has done a great comparison tests and rated this Sony as his No.1 choice (though personally he still prefers to use his Bose for comfort).

        • @edfoo:
I thought that writing "source:" meant everything else on the internet in this matter is irrelevant and my statement on the subject is gospel…

        • -1

@Scoobth: you have discovered not everyone understands humour. Particularly headphone nerds

        • +1

          @Scoobth: Nah, I prefer my sauce…

        • @edfoo: hi, thanks for preferring me as your sauce ;)

      • I had to memorize that poem in 8th grade for an oral presentation. I still remembered it for years after that, despite never needing to use it again.

I don't remember it anymore though.

  • OP, will Sony WH-1000XM2 be shipped with Australian tax invoice?

    • Yes

      • Awesome, thanks

  • OP, any replacement earpads for Sony WH-1000xm2?

    • +3

Sorry I have no idea how to get spare parts from Sony. Their logistics is somewhat…lacking

      • Speedyspares handles Sony camera spare parts (eyepiece rubber part), you can try fb message Sony Australia to ask or give speedyspares a call/use their contact form.

  • I got the Bose QC 35 and I find the bass a bit of lacking but the Noise Cancellation (NC) is godlike. Should I get this ? How is the sounds on this as well as the NC. Thanks.

From what I've read, Bose only beats Sony in comfort - some users have said they can only use Sony for 1-2 hours before feeling discomfort and needing to take them off to have a break (others said they don't have this problem)

So my advice - but since this deal is limited to 4 hours it might not be possible, is to see if you are using these for a long period of time to try Sony and see if you like the feel of it, because it out performs Bose in every other category.

I for one, tried them both at JB-HiFi and valued comfort over quality. I have an AudioTechnica m40x and those are bloody uncomfortable for me and even though I think they sounds really nice, I really hated using it after a while so I went the 'safe' option due to past experience.

        Thanks for the details reply.

I own the Bose QC35s and was thinking to get these Sony cans too, but that discomfort after an hour or two of usage that several people reported put me off. I have watched three movies and countless time of YouTube videos on the Bose in the last 24 hours, and I didn't have to remove them even once for discomfort. I am not that bothered about "audio quality" (well, unless it is a major issue), so I will wait until cans more comfortable than the Bose hit the market.

        • +2

I have the sony and it's not uncomfortable at all it's just that the bose qc35' are sooo damn comfortable that everything else suffers in comparison

I tried the bose ones at Myer the other day and oh my days they are so light and comfy wtf?

        • @jay0514: Same. I tried them both, only briefly though, at Myers recently. The Sony is quite comfortable but the Bose is definitely a lot more comfortable for me.

        • @jay0514: Yes i actually agree with this. The sony is not uncomfortable but the bose is just very comfortable. The sony is a bit heavier than the bose too which does make a difference. I find the extra weight in sony puts a bit more pressure on the top of my head at the headband area. The sony is definitely not uncomfortable, its just not as comfortable as the bose in comparison. An uncomfortable pair of headphones i'd say is probably the Beats studio that I had before. Could never wear those more than 1hr.

        • @jay0514: i think comfort is mostly dependent on the size of ones head and shape of ones ears.

    • +4

Ive tried both qc35 and 1000xm2. Imo if you already own the bose, might aswell jst keep it. Theres really no need to swap over to the sonys. Its really not an amazing upgrade over unless you can sell off ur qc35 to cover the cost to switch. Bose is definitely more comfortable. Sony looks so much nicer. Sound wise the sony seems to sound a bit better but I mean "sound" is subjective. ANC wise i find the sony to be better as its functions are just so much nicer. I sold the Bose at the beginning of the year and got a pair of the sony's 2 weeks ago.
I'm not a fan of the sound on either headphones. That being said, I use my HD650s when I'm using my computer. When I go out, I use a pair of IEMs as I dont enjoy having something heavy when Im out walking around. The only reason I keep a pair of these is for the ANC features which I find useful when I'm on a flight or wanting to isolate noise around me.

      • Good stuff! Will take your comment into consideration.

      • +1

TBH, I rarely use my QC35, I have been using my airpods 99% of the time, especially on the bed before a good night sleep.

      • The Sony have much better bass than the Bose. I have them both.
It is worth the swap IMO.

  • Op is there gst tax invoice for claiming TRS?

    • yes

  • Thanks @sm007h72, just bought one now, when do we expect delivery, i'm based in Sydney metro.

Awesome deal, cheapest by far locally in Oz.

    • Local delivery is usually same day or next day, depending on how busy the courier is that day.

  • Hi OP, can you give me a receipt in my company name so I can claim it? Or do you have to print whatever is on paypal?

Please send a note on your ebay order with the invoice details.

For those wanting a comparison against Sennheiser PXC550:

Comfort: About the same depending on head and ear shape. Sony has less clamp but Sennheiser a tiny bit lighter, Didn't feel a lot of pressure at the top of my head.

NC: Sony wins because it filters out chatter and higher frequencies better. For lower frequencies and background noise, about the same. Sony has some extra features (e.g. atmosphere pressure detection) but I'm not sure how useful they actually are. Sony has more noticeable white noise when NC is on.

Usability: Mixed. Touch controls are more responsive on Sennheiser but doesn't power off automatically if not connected to bluetooth. Sony powers off by itself. Sony relies on physical button presses to let ambient noise in or cusping the headphone which is kinda weird, where as you just double tap with Sennheiser.

Build quality and QC: I personally think Sennheiser is better. There are quite a few factory scratches on the matte plastic on the Sony. I'm still unconvinced Sony fixed the headband problem.

Sound quality: Depends on your preference. Sennheiser is brighter with tight bass so gives you that perception that it sounds better. Sony has emphasised low-end and can sound muddier but it's all relative. Both sound good for their sound signature.

Versatility: Sennheiser wins. You can use the app to adjust bass, treble, reverb and SAVE it into the headphones, meaning you can use those settings on ANY device. And you can plug it directly into a PC or laptop via USB and use the headphone's DAC, which is very good by the way. The Sony's can't do any of the above.

Sennheiser can do multi-point meaning you can connect mobile and laptop to the headphones at the same time - same as Bose. Sony can only connect to one device at a time.

If ANC is the most important thing to you, get the Sony's. But if you're looking for an all-in-one, Sennheiser is better suited because of that built-in DAC. Of course assuming they are priced similarly.

    • Just in regards to 'Versatility', the Sony's do store the equalizer settings within the headphones and is carried cross-device - at least between two Android phones.

  • Thanks. Finally decided to order. Hope to get it soon. Delivery to Melbourne…

    • Everything is leaving tomorrow morning so hopefully you will get it by Friday

  • How good is this price? I'm interested but don't know if I should buy now or wait. Is it worth jumping on it?

    • +1

      • pulled the trigger on these. Thanks OP

  • Thanks for the post OP! I've been waiting for a pair of these to drop.

Double thumbs up for posting the deal just before the eBay sale hit too. Literally waited until 6pm for the code to kick in. Cheers!

    • I noticed the moment the clock hit 6pm, we had an order come through. That was amazingly quick!

  • Hi OP, I bought a set of black for myself and my wife is jealous! Is there any chance of a repeat on the price for a set of Gold?

    • Nows the time with the new ebay code, about to make a new deal

  • @sm007h, any chance of having these discounts again? If so I'll be buying ASAP!

    • Our warehouse boys were complaining about how much packing they had to do to make sure all deliveries were out the very next day! Credit to the boys - they did a wonderful job and I believe most, if not, all of you have received your orders already.

Maybe we should give them a rest…maybe…

      • Haha absolutely, with all the deals it would be a flat out weekend! Unfortunately I was a bit too slow to be in on the last batch, but I'll wait to see if another deal comes along and hopefully they'll have had their rest by then :) I'll be sure to leave a good-review on Ebay for all your great work too!
