Korean BBQ Too Much Work/Stressfull?

ok, a lower level stress but i cant seem to fully relax. does anyone else find korean bbq to be to much work just to have dinner? (at a resturant)
im specifically talking about the cooking of the meats and eating the tiny side dishes and balancing them out so when the meat cooks u can eat them all at once but you end up finishing one thing to early and having alot of meat left or having no meat left and alot of sides… and trying to have conversations while the meat is burning lol u gota be on that… it just seems like a way to much bulls@&$. but alot of people i know love it and i cant seem to get it…
and the food is usually just OK..

Ask yourself why are you paying someone to cook your own dinner at a restaurant?

    • That one's easy for me, because we rent and the oven here is from the 50's.

      • you cook korean bbq in the oven?

        • Haha nah, was a more general comment with respect to not cooking at home…

Easy fix, just smash avocado on toast and you will be hip and trendy

    • I'm paying them to clean up afterwards.

korean BBQ is way too much effort, id rather go elsewhere for food that i dont need to cook myself.

  • Charcoal barbecued meat is so delicious though!

If you're white, the staff will cook your food for you #privilege

If you're asian, but not korean, sometimes the staff will cook for you #sometimesprivilege

I experienced this once when I was out after a game of basketball. Two of our team mates are white.
Prior to this, when I have ever been to a KBBQ restaurant, staff just deliver the food to the table and leave. This time around, they delivered the food and just started cooking without any prompts.
Felt so good getting more value for money :)

  • For the price you need to pay for Korean BBQ I'd rather some one else do the cooking for me, if anything should be cheaper, cutting out the labour by us having to cook

Generally, it does become stressful to ensure you get a balance of meats and vegetables especially since they never provide you with enough veggies. You will always have to request for more and it's complimentary.
To avoid this issue, I go to a KBBQ restaurant which is a buffet. Yes, quality and taste aren't exactly the best, but with your level of anxiety in a KBBQ restaurant, this option may reduce the anxiety you experience.

  • Don't know as i have a bbq from China

People in the world are starving and you want to complain because you need to cook your own food?

    • OP should buy them tickets to a buffet

    • well.. only one of us has to cook their own food in a restaurant. so…. only one of us can complain about it really.

  • I love cooking the food. It's a real social experience for an extravert like me.

  • only go to korean BBQ places occasionally for the korean dishes made in the kitchen and usually during lunch hour when there's less people doing BBQ.. For BBQ, it just costs too much for just a few insignificant slices of meat. You are just paying for the experience of becoming a piece of "smoked meat"!!

I can get beef scotch fillet for $16/kg and pork belly for $12/kg from the butcher. There's also the korean butchers that sell korean style beef ribs and marinated meats.

  • You just need to get better at it and invite the right people.

Would you say a Christmas dinner is too much work too? Or would you accept it for the treat it is.
