Name: Britax Safe N Sound Millenia SICT - Pebble Grey
Brand: Britax Safe n Sound
Suitable For: Newborn to 4 Years
Description:
Britax Safe-n-Sound’s Millenia SICT offers advanced safety features.
Designed with dual layer revolutionary Side Impact Cushion Technology (SICT) providing your child the ultimate side impact protection.

Features:

ISOFLEX™: Equipped with ISOFLEX Connectors to provide a simple, firm connection into a vehicle with ISOFIX low anchorages in conjunction with Top Tether. ISOFIX is an alternative method of installation that may reduce mistakes that are associated with traditional seat belt installation

Side Impact Cushion Technology (SICT™) - Head Protection: Unique SICT layer provides 180 degree protection around a child’s head. SICT minimises the energy generated in a side impact crash

Rear Facing for longer: Your child can remain rearward facing until they are approximately 2-3 years old, which is safer for your child

Active Head Restraint (AHR): Designed specifically with deeper side wings that shield and contain your child’s head in a side impact crash. AHR grows with your child working with SICT to contain your child’s head and to minimise impact forces

Thermo5™ Bamboo Fabric: Thermo5 High Performance fabric with Bamboo delivers the premium comfort your baby deserves

Rear and Forward Facing Seat belt lock-offs fitted to provide a more secure fit in the vehicle when used with vehicle seat belt (non Isofix mode)

Hassle Free Harness: Single handed height adjustable headrest and harness allows the seat to grow with your child without the need to remove and re-thread the harness. Reducing the risk of incorrect installation and enhancing correct harness fit

Infant Safety Cushion™: This cushion includes EVA composite material that provides support and protection for a small baby absorbing energy during a side impact crash. Specially designed ventilation holes offer breathability and comfort

EZ-Buckle retains the harness buckle in a forward position and prevents the child from sitting on the buckle when boarding

Handy Storage pocket

Push button harness adjuster

4 recline positions in forward facing mode (including upright)

Colourful toy holder can be used to attach toys

Shoulder pads to provide extra comfort

Full length car seat protector with storage pocket

  • Any thoughts on this vs a (non isofix) capsule for a newborn?

    • A capsule is very handy but the only downside is how quickly they get outgrown and then you have to buy a seat anyway

Isofix is basically a different anchoring method

    • +4

I have this exact model. Been using it to carry our newborn right from the hospital to home rear-facing to now forward facing (she turns 1 today). It has been a year and the car seat works great.

      • Happy birthday

      • It is generally safer to remain in the rear facing position. It seems this seat can be used rear facing until 2-3 years of age

Capsule: Hire one. We currently have one (for the second time), is brilliant for moving in & out of the car without disturbing. We also have an attachment for our pram, so we can connect onto that as well.
      * We did the math once, we would need to have 3.4 kids to break even on buying upfront (which ignores inflation & having to spend up front). So we always recommend hiring to family/friends.

Also meant that we purchased a seat that goes from 6 months to 8 years (front facing of course). About to buy a booster, for when #2 outgrows the capsule.

      • Where would u recommend to hire one?

        • We've used Hire For Baby both times. They come & install it for you. Both times the capsule has been in great condition. No idea how they compare to other places, as have only used them.

      • I would not hire one. Get your own like Unity NEOS which is birth to 12months. You can sell it afterwards with a little loss. You will be sure it had no poonamis, vomits and diseases from the past. Also it was never in any accident.

Britax seats come with crash exchange warranty as well.

    • Buy the capsule off Gumtree/eBay - try to find one within 2 years old (stamped manufactured date), good condition, with user manual and proof of purchase/receipt(most important). Use it until the baby outgrown it.
Wash it properly, take some good photos and sell it off Gumtree/eBay ASAP. Don't let it sit around. Mention manufactured date + receipt in your listing.
I actually end up making $30 after using a Maxi Cosi Mico for 6 months.

  • Sorry off topic. but can anyone recommend one for up to 7-8 years ? Been doing a bit of research and its doing my head in :S

    • +4

When I was 7-8yrs old I was sitting in the front seat without any booster.

      • -5

Just because your parents were irresponsible it doesn't everyone should be

        • +1

Harsh call. In QLD, children over the age of 7 are allowed to seat in the front sit without a booster or restraint.

I always wanted to sit in the front seat and my mummy and daddy loves me alot so they let me.

Britax Maxi Guard Pro $430ish was the one I am considering, on sale until tuesday.

    • At that age, generally a child can just use a booster seat.

    • +2

These are highly regarded booster seats (we have 4 of them!)…

Also called the "Hi-Gro", it's the exact same seat with different styling:
      https://www.bigw.com.au/product/safe-n-sound-hi-grow-booster…

    • Sorry just to clarify … he's only 1 year old but i'd prefer to get a car seat up to 7-8 years old rather than 4 year old.

      • +1

check that your child actually meets the entry marker for a 6 month-8 year old seat. They may be marketed at 6 months plus to fit into the category standards but not sure how many 1 yrs olds would meet the entry seated height.

        • You're spot on… He's still a bit small but we're currently still using the capsule which he is ok in (hes under weight)

But once he grows out of it.. Will need something bigger. And don't want to buy another car seat when he's 4

        • +1

          @SmiTTy:
That's understandable but take into account that if you child isn't overly tall ( in the toro) he should last much longer then 4 years forward facing- most people have said up to 6 years. My 2.5 year old has a lot of room to grow in the 0-4 seat so you may face an issue of the boy being too big for the capsule yet to small for the 6mth plus seat - maybe check closer to the time. Best thing is to try your boy in a few seats in store closer to change over time before you buy anything.

      • I have been using InfaSecure 0-8 Car Seat for my daughter since day 1 till now (nearly 5 years)! It's great and comfy. Can happily recommend. They do 6 month to 8 Year compatible Booster seats as well and now comes with ISOFIX brackets too.

Some of the ones I can find these days are

  • Is this the best one they Make?

    • Yes any car seat from Britax Safe N Sound that has Thermo 5 tech in it. Mean there will be less flame retardant in the seat, even that I would recommended wash it in soapy water 4-5 times

    • Platinum pro is the best one they make.
      But millinia is a close 2nd :)

      • Cool. Any big differences with the Platinum Pro that make it better?

        • Honestly no difference apart from the head cusions which are for safety reasons.

Either way they are both quality seats.

It was available over Christmas from Toys R Us on eBay for about $330 after 20% discount. So annoyed that I didn't pull the trigger then. I'm convinced it will be cheaper than this current price again.

    • wow I must've missed it, could've sworn I checked the ebay store but it wasn't stocked on the ebay store during that christmas sale

That would've been a really good price then

  • Hi - thanks for the post. For those who have been researching and looking around, have there been better deals on this seats?
I need one in another 2months. Should I hold off for a better price? what do you think?

ie. should i wait for a 20% ebay deal? will there be one soon?

    • +1

hard to say, I've been waiting for a 20% sale as well but caved when the 10% came along and I didn't want to risk it

      • looks like this offer is available until 2/march. so ill hang on for a bit

  • From my understanding harnessed for as long as possible is safer then a booster seat ( using normal seat belt). Britax and Infasecure are the highest recommended seats from my research. So for a harnessed to 8 yrs seat Im also looking at the Britax Maxi Guard ( or Pro) or Infasecure Emerge. There is also the cheaper Babylove Ezy Grow ( same company as Britax).

For those looking at the milliana its a fantastic seat and my 2.5 year old is very happy still rear facing. Only downside is that it is a deep seat when the kids get older the head rest is extended out. Probably not recommend for smaller cars- the equivalent smaller depth seat in the britax would be the new Graphene

  • Don't forget to check the ratings at https://www.childcarseats.com.au/ (the CREP rating).
We used it to narrow down our list of car seats (picking the best rated ones), and are doing the same now for booster seats.

  • Has anyone managed to get David Jones to price match on these, or is that a no go?

  • Bought the Infasecure seat earlier (still sitting in the box), wonder if the price difference (almost double!) is worth the switch?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/360520

    • So hard to say as it will come down to how your child fits in the seat and how the seat works in your car. Booth are large rear facing but but I believe the infasecure is even larger (64 cm for forte and 60 cm for millina). The millina head rest is AHR- suppose to move with the child to protect the head in an accident where the Infa forte is a pillow. And the millina is ezy adjust harness but with the fort you need to re-thread the harness to move up a size. I think the Infa may be a good choice for the price and its really like splitting hairs between the different features.

      • Thanks for pointing out the differences! I think I'll stick with the Infa.

  • I was trying to compare this Millenia model to the Graphene model. apart from price, i cannot find much difference. does anyone speak baby seat language to help please?

    Graphene: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Britax-Safe-N-Sound-Graphene-Koh…
    Millenia: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Britax-Safe-N-Sound-Millenia-SIC…

    • +2

Biggest difference is the rear facing depth. So the Millenia is a deep seat ( especially once the head rest is extended out once they get bigger). The Graphene has a shorter rear facing depth. I have a 2.5 yr old rear facing in the Milliana a does impact on the leg room for the front passenger in my outlander. The graphene is the top of line of the small depth britax seats. I have a Compaq ( same shell I believe) in our tiny car- and my 2.5 yr old is rear facing but a bit squished in the torso compared to the milliana. Oh and Graphene would be easier to fit three seats across as well.
So Graphene for smaller cars, or three across combination. Millina for luxury for bub.

      • Thanks JMV! excellent info!

  • Thanks for this. My mum wanted to buy one. We managed to get one for $394 on price match but this is still a good deal and doesn't require mucking around with layby payments etc.

    • Any chance you could tell us who your price matched? Cheers.

      • I think the store was baby bounce. baby train also has it cheaper. it depends on where you live because the price match technically has to be in the same city (though in my case they didn't check)
