    • I believe this would be the quiv;

You need to email them for shipping cost ???????????????

If you are in Melbourne, you can pick them up from one of these stores for $149 and avoid postage costs and waiting for couriers…

  • 120gb also avail for double the price. I'd personally recommend at least 120gb for a SSD boot drive. My 128gb boot drive only has 15gb free :)

    • Debatable. I just bought a Patriot Inferno 120GB (also sandforce controller like the Vertex 2, but some speeds are capped). I thought I'd need one larger than the 80GB Intel SSD in my laptop for the desktop, but I may have been wrong.

Windows 7 + all the Apps I need (no games yet) and usage was at 40GB out of 111GB (after formatting/rounding).

Games right now have added 20GB to that. Need to keep at least 10% free, so say now I'm sitting on 60GB/100GB.

You could potentially get away with 60GB for apps/OS. That's where the real benefit is anyway.

      • You dont need it but its better not worring about it all the time. I find having that extra few gigs gives me piece of mind :)

    • The Patriot Inferno 120gb mentioned by Shadowsfury can be had for only $235 at MSY or Umart according to StaticIce, which seems good value. Trick is whether or not they have it in stock (MSY Auburn doesn't).

  • what other ones are comparable of better than the OCZ Vertex2 for performance…

a link to good reviews would be great…

These are the top consumer speeds at the moment. It's all about the Sandforce controller.

Other similar Sandforce based SSDs are the Corsair Force series and the G.Skill Phoenix Pro series.

Most SSDs 60GB and up that are a round decimal number like 60, 120 or 240 are probably (although not certainly) Sandforce. The ones that are 8-bit style round numbers like 64, 128 or 256 are probably a slower controller.

      • cheers…

  • A good price for Perth folks who live near a PLE store… but not one you'd really go out of your way for.

Netplus, Austin and PLE's normal price is $159. So a $14 or ~8% saving. Again, not really worth going out of your way for.

  • Normal price for this, here is a search for prices aus wide for people to pickup
    http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=OCZSSD2-2VT…

  • In the interest of healthy competition (or cut throat), we will offer the 120Gb version for $230. Unfortunately, we have ran out of quota to submit on OZ Bargain, so please look directly; http://www.netplus.com.au/product/HD4/HDSSDOCV2120/Hard-Driv…

    • $19 shipping kills it for me… otherwise I'd order one off you…

also, additional 2.3% credit card surcharge… It all adds up…

    • Wow..great price. Less than 2 dollars per MB. Very tempting man…

      • Quite a bit less than 2 dollars per MB :P

    • Not quite today only. Go home from work and went to order this and it was back to the old price at 9pm :(. It still has the "Notes : Special Price TODAY ONLY!" too.

      Ah well.

  • Not bad, but I think I will be waiting for more deals like below…
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/35744

    • Without checking any benchmarks, the are much the same really aren't they?

This and the NetPlus deal seem like a good bargain for Perth rather than Aust wide.

      • They're all about the same so do not need to benchmark them.
yes, those offers are good for Perth only and may not apply to eastern states due to shipping cost.
