Haven't played it in like 2 months and a bit meself. Was there from Day 1 on D1. Just got monotonous.
Played the crap out of Destiny 1, got Destiny 2 at launch and played it for a few weeks. The game is terrible at the moment, like really bad. Haven't touched it in a while. I'm not sure it's salvagable at this point, but Bungie did bring back Destiny 1 with The Taken King expansion.
For $26 it's an OK buy even for the single player campaigns, but everything else is lacking and Eververse has ruined the game along with the other numerous game decisions by Bungie.
Right now I wouldn't be supporting them as a game developer.
Just want to add, that the gameplay is actually fantastic, graphics and environments are incredible, but as mentioned above, the amount of content is atrocious as it was with Destiny 1. The first DLC/expansion is also an utter slap in the face. You can’t believe that they seriously thought there was enough content to release it. One of the problems is that you want to keep playing, but there’s just nothing left to do. Bungie just proving time and time again that they have absolutely no clue what constitutes a reasonable amount of content for a mmo.
Apparently the single player content is empty. Players have left the game to go back to the 1st Destiny. The price may be a deal but not the game.

Imo no. All the good shit is locked behind dlc pay walls and you can't even level up past a certain point until you buy the dlc (which this deal doesn't include).
Its all in expectations. If you think the 6ish hour campaign of a COD game is worth $40+ then Destiny 2 is definitely worth around $30 just for the campaign.
Ahhh, another game to add to the backlog of about 50.. damn these prices!

I bought the game when I made this post. Still going strong, just hit level 20 and finished the campaign.

Game is in a terrible place right now (hence the low game cost) with a majority of content creators and streamers leaving the game because of it not having any meaningful content and almost no end game. There is a 2nd DLC that comes in May and bungie has outline a roadmap for fixes all the way to late 2018…
