[SYD] Free Life Jacket for Attending a Free Workshop @ Eventbrite

150

A bit of an obscure one but it showed up in my Facebook feed and might be useful to at least someone.

Attend a free rock fishing workshop in Bankstown (Sydney) on the 13th March and get a free rock fishing life jacket.

And I understand most people wouldn’t be able or willing to visit Bankstown, I’m just sharing what I found.

UPDATE: apparently they're BOOKED OUT and there's a waiting list.

  • Bankstown in title please.

    • What's the use of giving out a free life jacket that far west?

It'd make more sense to give out free water!

might be worth it if you are getting a bullet proof vest

  • A free anything isn't enough to get me to visit Bankstown!

Nothing wrong with Bankstown. would do a long drive there just for the food.

  • I doubt a life jacket will mean much when the waves are bashing you against the rocks.

    • that's why better to swim out instead of trying to get back on the rock. the life jacket keeps you afloat while waiting for help.

I doubt a life jacket will mean much when the waves are bashing you against the rocks.

It helps the recovery team by highlighting the body against the waves.

  • I feel purely sorry for the person giving out free life jackets…

Good post OP. Hopefully even if it can save one life, it's worth it wihout the jacket. Distant relative was killed during rock fishing.

it's March 13th, a crowded room is filled with 400 ozbargainers and 2 uneasy anglers. The tension in the room is mounting towards a catastrophic level. At the far end a door slowly opens and a man emerges pushing pushing a trolley laden with boxes. The heart rates of the 400 ozbargainers rises dramatically to an almost audible level. Pupils dilate and fight mode is activated as would have occurred in any evolutionary altering biological reaction. In the closed room, with no air circulation, the atmosphere is filled with what scientists will later call "bargainephrine", a naturally occurring pheromone which usually has no effect on other people, however, and most catastrophically, the enclosed space and the density of so many with the same hunger and desire lead to levels that are toxic to the point of causing near animalistic behaviour to attain the desired prize.

  • There's also one being held the day after, Wed 14th March, at Strathfield for the Korean-food-inclined: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/rock-fishing-workshop-tickets-43118981033.
Scratch that… just saw the "sold out" statement.

  • Now you are signing up to put your name on the waitlist.
