    I made a reasonable amount of buying and selling lego over the years. I have a few big sets put away now.
    Original UCS XWing
    Original Star Destroyer
    Super Star Destroyer
    Slave 0/1
    Tie Fighter
    etc…

    I'm pretty sure the best days of Lego profits are in the past. Every man and his dog are hoarding rooms full of Lego now to try and reap the profits from days gone by. As a result, the supply of retired sets is much higher than it used to be.

    Not only that, but Lego has finally cottoned on and are re-releasing the big sets like the UCS Millennium Falcon, Taj Mahal, Death Star etc.

    I've made a heap of money from selling retired sets over the years. Things like a $85 set sold for $385, and multiple $270 sets sold for over $990. But those sets were all acquired before the Lego movie, and before mainstream media were publishing articles about Lego being a better investment than gold.

    Not anymore. The days of 5-10x return on big sets like Creator Green Grocer are over. Lego is making more Creator Modulars now, and the runs last longer. Even the first UCS Falcon RRP'd at $999 here, and took a while to reach $3k+, and you can bet the new one will have an even longer run.

    LEGO as an investment can be logistically more difficult - cost of acquiring, securely storing and maintaining the assets condition, cost and time associated with reselling (fees must be paid if selling on ebay for example and postage), actual sell through may now be lower due to counterfeit releases of retired sets.

    If your comparing the positives and negatives of shares vs lego, there is no doubt more aspects to consider, but in my opinion at the moment shares are a more fluid and profitable asset - if done right

  Just a heads up, the bonus Lego dog deal looks like it's finished, even though the ad still shows. Previously, it was adding that item to your cart when you reached the required amount, and now it is not. I received one with an order, and it was a separate item showing in the order. So if you order and don't receive a bonus dog, that's why.
