Bat Poo ripped paint off car. Will paint protection guarantee repair / re-treat affected areas?

Hey guys,

Long story short. I recently bought a car back in October 2016.

Fast forward to a couple days ago and I had two blotches of bat poo above my right rear door and along the back of my roof line.
So I got a microfibre cloth, some warm water and spot remover and attempted to remove the bat poo, only to realise it was already soaked into the paint iself. Now I have two areas of chipped paint on the car.

I purchased paint protection on the car when I bought the vehicle but not sure if they will honor the missing paint on both areas of the car. The company who undertook the paint protection states in their booklet that they "will repair and re-treat the damaged area at no cost the owner providing that the owner has maintained the vehicle in the manner specified under maintenance"

Anyone out there able to help me out on this and what my next actions should be? Is a retouch a more cost effective option?
I know I will have to call the company but now I'm worried they will try to pin it on myself and not honor their paint protection guarantee.

Please note, the car was parked in the open for three days straight as I was on holidays and didn't notice the dropping until last night.

Cheers guys

Anyone out there able to help me out on this and what my next actions should be?

its not hard but might be hard for some, contact who did the paint protection, you know their name and number might be on booklet you're reading………….

Is a retouch a more cost effective option?

follow the first step and then consider the next.

    • Thanks for the advice, I mean't to add to those questions already.

I'm just afraid they're not going to fix it and blame it on me instead. I mean, I paid money for a guarantee and was under the impression, that for six years the paint would be completely protected.

No, the onus is still on you to remove anything asap.

What next, you have an accident and expect the paint protection to protect the panels from damaging?

Paint protection is good but it's not perfect, you're still required to get shit off the car as soon as possible

How did you know it was bat poo?

OP probably touched it or licked it.

My car got bat pooped too. I'm relieved to hear that paint protection didn't help. I would have felt bad for paying for it and having it do poop. Sorry to hear. Regardless if they do cover the repair tben I'll be kicking myself for not getting paint protection.

    Bloody bats

  • curious to know what the chipped paint looks like .. could you please PM me an image of the chipped paint? thanks

We went on holiday, bat poo ate the paint. Protection people said sorry, but our fault. Never purchased any protection since…

Good question : The answer is probably in your contract / guarantee.

This article is quite a good discussion on the matter of paint protection guarantees. Read through it and compare what your warranty says. I'd be interested to know how you go with the claim.

    Have you done this?

but not sure if they will honor the missing paint on both areas of the car

    Ask them

Call them and lodge a claim!

  • Fun fact, just googled it, it's called guano and it's very pellet like.

  • was it a Vampire Bat? LOL

  • Good news.

The affected paint will be covered under warranty 👍

Consider yourself lucky as that bat droppings would have been on your panels for a few weeks at least to cause damage to the paint.

    • Would have been five days max.

Ita unfortunate I was away at the time and couldn't do anything about it.

      Cheers

  • For what it is worth, it usually is not poo but vomit, which is why it is so acidic. They regurgitate it up as they fly.
Metallic paint is the most vulnerable and can suffer serious damage in as little as 24 hours. You should wash it off ASAP.
