  • Is this something that is universal for all cars or specific models?

    • +3

All cars that use an H4 fitting (which is most, but not all).

      • -4

        90% use H4

        • +4

          Source?
H7 is becoming quite common too. My three cars use them.

      • Our 2012 Toyota Corolla uses H11 low beam. No stock and no discount? :(

    • +2

You will need to check your car's manual to check which type of bulb it will take.

    • +1

depends on car. just google whats compatible with your car. H4 is used a lot but no guarantee.

my suzuki swift uses H4. was able to change it easily with the help of youtube. used philips whitevision.

changing the fog lights though, is harder. and uses a diff type of bulb too.

  • +2

Note: i rexcommend tgese but due to the increased output, these last significantly less than standard halogens. I had one of each as a test and while they were brighter, the xtreme vision bulb blew about 3 months prior to the standard..

    • Thanks for the info. I am currently contemplating getting a pair of these, standard pair from SCA or go for LEDs for my Cruze.

      • +3

I found the price of bulbs ridiculous in supercheap so as a true Ozbargainer I went to ebay, what a difference.

        • +1

Totally agree on the price difference but I am hoping to avoid waiting to get them by post (unless I go LED then the wait may be worth it) so I might try find someone with RACV membership as Repco has 33% off today.

          @Olokun:

I just rang my local Repco and they don't stock Philips globes in-store, and as such have to be ordered in.

        • @Lorindor:

Well that's a bummer, thanks for letting me know.

        • +1

@Olokun: I have bought 2 sets from them and both times I had them delivered under 10 days

        • +2

@Olokun: Just be carefull LED bulbs are not legal in most of Australia, unless you also install the auto levelling mod which means essentially a completely new headlight.
You will more than likely blind an oncoming driver.

          @sn809:

Cool thanks for that info, didn't know this. I just bit the bullet and bought these Philips for $32. 400 hours should last be 2 years usage hopefully as I only on average drive the car 30 minutes/day.

    • Was that just in your one off trial, or did you read that info on various reviews? Sounds legit though, makes sense if using more power/heat, could blow quicker.

      • +1

I've had the same experience with both Philips and Narva branded bulbs that had +% brightness or blue or whatever. Had to replace them every 6 months or less!

Switched back to regular bulbs and they've been going a couple of years so far.

  • The H1 bulbs are the same price for anyone wanting better high beams.

  • +1

The better one is Phillips Racing Vision who claims 150+ more light but I don't know wether it's ADR approved. I have the Xtreme Vision 130+ and it is a good bulb.

    • +1

but I don't know wether it's ADR approved.

It's listed as road-legal on Powerbulbs, but it only has 200 hours lifespan compared to 450 hours of Xtreme Vision bulbs.

Here's a comparison of both bulbs.

    • i've used 2 sets before. its runtime is worse than the xtremevision

  • Thanks… Been meaning to stock up as I've just chucked my last set in the car!

  • +2

Just got myself some GE megalight Ultra 130 after reading

    http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/76760/best-ca…

and good reviews on amazon UK as well.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/GE-Megalight-Ultra-Headlight-58520X….

Will see how they are and how long they last as they are supposedly better than the phillips in testing.

  • Ordered! - Thanks

  • Just ordered spares as well.
These guys ship out fast and free.
    Better prices than eBay.
Better to order 1 or 2 sets on standby rather than having the current one die then buy on eBay from Aussie sellers then chase them up.

  • Got an email this morning with discount code NOW25 for 25% off.

    • :( I no longer feel like a winner. Lol

      • You can if you edit the deal with the new code! ;)
