Looking for a Laptop Bargain! - Budget $900

Hey fellow ozbargainers, my old 2012 HP Envy just died on my in my first week of Uni and I need a decent laptop before things start getting serious (I study electrical engineering at Uni, so I have to code and use IDE's and all sorts of (profanity)(run LTspice, atmel studio, etc..).

I need a laptop with AT LEAST: decent cpu, great battery life, 1080p screen, no bigger than 15.6 inch, 128gb ssd, 8gb ram.

Touch screen with support for a pen would be great since drawing circuits in onenote would be nifty.

This dealis the best one at the moment, from what I could find, which my brother also bought for Uni. (Doesn't come with Lenovo pen, comes seperately for a bit more)

So, can anyone else find a better deal? or should I go with this one? Is that laptop not good? This deal is like ~850 AUD and I do not want to spend more than $900 including shipping.

Cheers.

    Apple.com/au

    • I don't think there are mac books cheaper than $900 on apples website? Also I probably should have stated that I would prefer windows since i'm used to it so that's my bad.

No touch. Just a ordinary clamshell laptop

Another alternative is to look at the Dell Outlet on monday morning. and see what is available in the Latitude or Inspiron section.

        • +1 to the Dell Outlet

Absolutely amazing deals can be found there, esp. the Inspiron 13 7000 series if you're looking for something light as well

        • Ah yes I saw the deal on the E240 but I was told they have not great build quality and poor battery life? Or is it actually a good deal (I don't need a GPU at all either)

        • @zoominguy: I looked at that link but none of the laptops are available?

        • @CorporalCat:

Hi, check monday afternoon because the Dell outlet takes some time to populate.

The Stock in the outlet moves fast, but it's not updated in real time. There can be significant time lag between updates.

  • decent cpu, great battery life

This is vague. Are you looking for 8th gen U series Intel? Anything that's not a K series/core M? What's "great" battery life to you? Do you want to leave the charger at home and get through a day of coding and compiling or are you fine with charging it when you're in the library?

The laptop you linked is known as the Yoga 520 in Australia which might help you find a better price.

    • A CPU that is power efficient would be great, like any U series. At least 7+ hours battery life would also be good but I have room to carry my charger

I didn't know it was the yoga 520, cheers! But I can't find the exact model I listed cheaper anywhere in Australia?

      • The Amazon USD price seems pretty good actually, I just knew the alternate name you could search for in case there might be a better deal.

  • Second hand HP envy x340 from the states

    • Any links or will that just be a cheaper alternative I should search for?
