    • Gotta love it! All these great beer deals just before Christmas :)

  • +2

more beer, more beer more beer more beer,
    more beer, moooore beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer
(i'm sure you all know the tune…)

    • Life doesn't get better than this!

  • Would this be Melbourne only?

Good deal, that chill pack looks handy, as it can get warm quite quick.

    • Simple. Call your local store and ask!

  • any one know if its available in QLD and if BWS or DAN murphys will price match it?

    • You can get it at Dan's in Qld for same price according to boozle.com.au but dont know if you can get a free chill pack with it or not.

    • +1

I called Dan's and they said they had no stock of the Chill Packs. Then again, I only called the EDIT: Ascot Vale (Not QV) store. But the kegs are on sale at Dan's for the same price as 1st Choice.

    • I called the Mt Gravatt store
$29.84 and that includes the chill pack.

  • perfect for christmas party bring along… thanks mate.

  • I miss the $20 keg deal at Dan Murphy's a few months ago, hope they bring that deal back again soon.

  • +5

I drank 8 kegs during that 20 dollar promotion. And I am dead scared of those Henis now.

  • those chill packs work REAAAAAAALLLY well. can cool a warm keg down in under an hour. have had one for a few years.

  • I got myself a couple of the kegs at $20, been saving 1 for Christmas.

Here are a heap more specials at 1st Choice http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/36344

Pet hate: Arbitrarily assigning a value to a freebie that is never sold separately
So the Chill pack is worth $25? Based on what? Can you buy it separately?

    • +8

WaywardOne, I don't do anything 'arbitrarily'. The salesperson told me it was worth that much, so I took her on her word. If you don't like the deal, vote negative. Simple.

      • +1

i agree, the value can be anything since it is never sold separately anyway.

ill leave it to waywardone to explain who he meant was arbitrary, if he/she chooses, but i presume it wasnt tightarse.

        • Was trying to find a bit more about the chill pack…noticed that someone in Perth put one up for sale on gumtree today for $10…lol.

  • +2

5l for $30 ? I reckon these are for people who are bad at maths.
    A normal 24x375ml slab is 9l.

    • Agreed, Slab is $40 (Woolworths current special) = $4.45/L. Keg is $6/L.
      What are we missing here?

      • +1

what you are missing is that the $30 slabs are usually undrinkable crap like VB and XXXX gold

heinekin keg is imported and is an ok beer, not great but pretty drinkable

        • youve missed grazer. his math is right and his facts are right.

    • But the majority of imported beer comes in 330ml bottles.

    • Actually, 24 x 330ml (thanks gavinshim). So please correct your post and your theories, manic & grazer.

      • thanks for that

ill try correct, Slab is $40 (Woolworths current special) = $5.05/L. Keg is $6/L.

        slab is cheaper

        • Except the slabs are often the crap that is brewed under licence here and bears little resemblance to the real thing. The kegs are imported and the content is the real deal (the last time I bought one anyway; it tastes much more like the brew I tasted in Amsterdam).

        • +1

I second the note about imported vs under licence.

I don't think I've seen an imported carton for less than $49, which makes the kegs slightly cheaper plus novelty value.

  • with these keg thingys, how long does it last before you have to finish it?? Can it keep the bubbles even after a week or someething?

    • 30 days apparently

      • Thanks, sorry forgot to mention I was asking for how long would it last after it's opened… 1 month?

  • Damn I want one of these kegs, was gonna get one last year but didn't get a round to it.

Any deals in the rouse hill area for these?

  • Just called up Naremburn (NSW), they told me the price has changed, it's now $32.xx. And they dont do delivery for just 1 keg…

  • Just went to 5 local bottle o's trying to find the keg and chill pack. Wasn't too worried about the price, more for novelty value. Only liquorland had the promo chill packs included. Price was 32.99.

  • You guys getting good pours with these kegs? I got two kegs about 3 years ago and they poured crap beers with tones of froth. thought the first one was broken so got another and that was just as bad. Have stuck to bottled Hinies since.

  • Plenty of kegs & chill packs in 1st Choice North Rocks, NSW today and at the original price.

  • A few left at 1st Choice,Waterford,Qld where i just got mine :D Great post tightarse!!

    • No probs. Just keep those +ve votes coming!
