  • I'm seeing $100 cheaper from Sydney on China Southern & Air France via Canton.

And $200 cheaper form Perth. Thai has better connections from Perth, but as an ozbargainer, a day stopover in Guangzhou with free hotel is a bonus.

With all of my deals I post, I try and avoid certain airlines - China Southern being one of them (bad experience and I wouldn't fly them again).

Also they seem to get plenty of coverage here by others. So i try and find deals with the premium ones (CX, SQ, QR, QF etc) - check my posts.

If you can find cheaper and happy to fly them, great! Each to their own :)

All those Chinese airlines suck unless you’re a super cheapskate.

Depends how soft you are really.

Some Chinese Airlines I would definiely avoid. However, to group them all together just because they're 'Chinese' is shortsighted. Hainan is regarded as one of the best airlines in all of Asia & ranked Top 10 in the world. Some of their airlines are improving rapidly. That being said I'm a SQ man myself, for a variety of reasons :)

Flew China Southern four times in last couple of months. Every bit as good as Qantas.

    • Or a short stopover in Bangkok with thai so you get to europe quicker.
