Rather expensive for a new brand

    • And a brand that delivered an expensive and poorly conceived product last time. I haven't seen so many people saying they cannot use their headphones with their phone in their jeans before. Which is terrible for a $400 device.

BTW, just so you know, apparently their audio voodoo stuff does work quite well - but it is simply automating a process that you can do yourself easily (on PC anyway, probably Android and iOS as well), just look up a guide to installing a good eq and how to tune your headphones. Basically the idea is it boosts frequencies that your ear is "weak" in picking up due to ear shape and the parts that translate sound to electric signals for your brain. Everyone is weaker/stronger in hearing different frequencies due to ear shape.

      • You're totally missing how it works if you think is just an equaliser. It is listening and retransmitting that sound filtered which requires dedicated hardware. Try doing it with the horsepower of your whole pc without getting echo which is so distracting you won't even be able to maintain a conversation. I'm not saying the tech is perfect either but it's far more complicated and sophisticated than just headphones, mike and eq.

kidding right… just buy 23 of these

    • looks like someone already did.

      • Must have been Nuheara 😂

    • +2

Um they're assistive listening devices with inbuilt mics (like for people with poor hearing), not bluetooth earphones, which are now a dime a dozen.

      • Ha Ha. I thought they were Bluetooth headphones. As I am sure many others have. What is that saying about "assume" ….

Jeez….are they at least made out of gold?

  • Sorry, price updated with coupon code.

  • Did anyone try iqbuds yet? https://shopau.nuheara.com/products/iqbuds

    • Would also love to hear personal accounts - the reviews online for them have been great.

      • Plenty of reviews on Amazon which are a mixed bag. Seems those with newer devices ie layer model Bluetooth have the better experience and others find range poor. Those with existing listening difficulties seem most positive and those who just want some fancy pants tech earbuds are least impressed.

  • Are you a shareholder of NUH? Wink Wink*

  • Sweet - Nuforce BeFree 8s. but quadruple the price because SUPER EQ.

    yeahnah.

    • Nuforce have no form of noise cancellation, let alone selective noise cancelling. Not a comparison.

    • Brilliant!!! - thanks!

    • Out of curiousity, where / how did you find the PLUS30 code (awesome job by the way)?

      • +1

It was sent to current owners of the IQBuds.

  • look like a knock off of the Bragi headphones (NFMI).

  • Negging, as using plus30 gets it down $389 AUD.

  • I think most of the commenters are misunderstanding what they are aiming for.
They are marketing these as a hearing amplification device - an alternative to going for a full hearing aid fitting.
As an audiologist I would still recommend getting a hearing test (there are many free ways to do this), but sometimes there are cost and motivational barriers. Although there are many affordable ways to get aids and pensioners and veterans can get hearing aids for free.
Getting these would be better than doing nothing I suppose. I hear Samsung and others are trying to get into this market.

    • They're not actually marketing these as a hearing aid alternative at all…
These are for anyone that wants to have greater control of the sounds they hear.
      Examples
You don't need to have any sort of hearing loss to enjoy:
      - listening to your own personal music choices in the gym and still hearing your training buddy talking to you.
      - turning down the sounds of the aeroplane on a flight.
      - tuning into the conversation at the bar.

  • Extended until 31st March now

  • Thank you, just bought one for my mother in law!
