Has anyone had any experience with Lepin off Aliexpress? Looks like they make replica Lego - Ghostbusters Firehouse is $180 delivered. Porsche is $105 delivered.
When you buy lego you're not just buying bricks, you're buying the development behind that firehouse, the development behind the Porsche, and in both cases, licensing.
I'd have no issue with Lepin if they were designing their own models instead of stealing them
yeah I have bought lots of Lepin from Aliexpress for my kids mostly Ninjago and Friends sets. I have heard minifigs are not %100 accurate for sets like starwars etc They were fine for the kids sets we bought though or my kids don't notice or care as they are kids lol. Sometimes pieces are missing and you need to replace them from your stash. You have to be carefull and select a seller with great feedback, twice I got some other brand instead of Lepin. Once I got a partial refund but the other time Aliexpress sided with the seller and I got nothing back. Overall the risk is worth the price discount, my kids get to play with a lot of sets they wouldn't get even with the best Lego sale as its still very expensive.

You could buy them, make them and then resell them so you still "experience" it. The second hand value's quite good with lego.

Lego is probably the very best hobby for this. I have sold so many used Lego sets (bigger ones, not the cheap little less-than-$100 stuff) for anywhere from 75% to 200% of what I paid for it.
The big price drop is when you open the box, so your best bet is to buy used sets on eBay, then build and enjoy them, and then sell them for 100% of what you paid.
I can't think of any other hobbies that allow you to do this.
In fact, I've been clearing out my cupboards lately, and have sold a few second-hand sets that I bought online, but never even bothered to build myself, since I'd since bought better sets. In every case I've recouped all of my money.

Buy Lepin from shops in Hong Kong for around half the prices of Aliexpress. The parts are Lego compatible but u can definitely feel the lower grade quality. The instruction manuals are quite good, but at the same time different to the Lego instructions.
You can download Lego instruction books online.
Finally, Lepin just lumps their blocks in different bags un-numbered so you'll need to sort all your blocks beforehand….otherwise it's a nightmare looking for blocks. There will be missing blocks in each set

They are usually pretty good, but when looking at the tracking it sometimes takes a day or so for the parcels to move through the system. I don't mind if it takes slightly longer because Myer package their Lego pretty good, in bubble wrap and then boxed. Big W simply wrapped one of my items in black plastic and it arrived all dented up.
