  • Sigh, this is why it sucks to live in Queensland..

    • My local Aldi (in NSW) doesn't have liquor either (licence not granted for spurious reasons). I know that feel.jpg

    • +3

      Not in SA either

    • My local WA doesn't have an ALDI at all so I guess I win HAHAHAHAAHH

      • Great, you win a free beer voucher valid at your local ALDI.

    • I'd take access to two of the world's best beach areas over slightly cheaper alcohol, every single time.

      • true. When i was in the States i noticed they sell vodka for $4 a bottle. FOUR DOLLARS!!! I wish we had that here!

        • $4? In which state for a 700ml equivalent bottle? I visited California, Nevada, Arizona, Kansas, Missouri, Washington DC and New York last year and was surprised to see alcohol is not much cheaper over there than it is here. Cigarettes however were dirt cheap. AU$7 for 20 Marlboro Reds in Missouri.

        • @Cluster: Cali @ Trader Joe's. My wife is american and last time i was there, we went into Trader Joe's and out the front they had vodka for $4!! I couldn't believe it! It was, like, total heaven!

        • @Iggemo: Trader Joe's is owned by thee family of Aldi. In the lower part of the USA it's Aldi, north & Canada it's Trader Joes. Brothers own different parts.

      • Where are those beaches?

I did buy from Aldi Liquor online (I'm in Qld) until it shut down in March 2016. Operational for about two and a half years.

      • ahh… yeah i went to the site to see if there was some online ordering but, alas, nope : /

    • +1

      Nope.

Bloody easy here in Gold Coast City :-)

Only 32 Km drive to Tweed Heads South … mind you, about 3 hours drive return thanks to the constant traffic congestion created by our corrupt City Council headed by Tom the Builder … (building buildings that is, and not infrastructure like new good roads) …

Back to our grog … cheers to Aldi !!!

Here's a cocktail to try - in a pint glass pour 3/4 can of Murphy's, 2 shots of The Kraken rum, and 1 shot of freshly brewed hot espresso.. chocolately coffee mocha goodness!

Mix with mentholated spirits until you reach the desired ratio

      • +2

        mentholated spirits

Is that to keep with the emerald theme?

    • Still my favourite drink regardless!

    • Slip over to St James' Gate… Try both versions of Guinness.

  • 4-pack way better value than 6-pack.

    • Correct. Also seems wrong not buying Guinness from Dan Murphy.

  • Murphys is a great drink, pity they dont sell in SA

South Australia does not allow ALDI and Costco to stock alcohol. I visited Melbourne recently and went to check out both stores. There were drunks everywhere, wall to wall vomit, and people coward punching each other left right and center!

Or… it's just Woolworths trying to protect its Dan Murphy's/BWS/Hotels business against some welcome competition and petitioning the state government to not allow those evil alcohol sellers into the state.

  • Hmm, does this mean that I can't get a price match at Dans, because I can't get this "locally" in QLD?

    • +1

you can ask but I think DM generally price match another competitor's price if it's located within 10km radius.

    • i'm thinking the same thing - going into Dan's and getting them to price match.

  • A whole two four packs of Guinness (only) are still available at Melb CBD.
