Quoted me nearly $800 MORE than my existing provider including the 15% discount.

    • depends on your record, location and the car…

i saved about $300 going with them with one car, but was almost $200 more for another car…….

      • Also depends on age.

        • Also depends on gender

          @51ngh:

          And penis size.

    • +1

Yep I agree. $270 more expensive than AAMI, AND I had to stuff around getting a detailed quote just to get agreed value with Budget Direct.

      Won't be doing that again!
Pretty much every other insurer will give a quick quote for agreed value without detailed questions upfront.

      • Similarly, AAMI is about $800 more expensive that my current insurer too.

RACV has been the cheapest for me for about 11 years now, hence not switching insurers. I guess brand loyalty actually pays off in the end.

        • +1

          Surprising.

But careful with loyalty though. Always double check any renewals with a new quote online.
AAMI always 'reward' renewing customers with apathy tax.
It's always been cheaper to get a new one.

        • Similarly, AAMI is about $800 more expensive that my current insurer too.

Same. When I finally left them a few years back, I saved around $800… AND I was on rating 1 for life..

  • Yeah I got quoted $150 a month where as my current provider is $35 a month….

    • +3

Care to share your current provide name?

      • NRMA, insurace is $32.70 but the car is only worth $2000.

Put the exact details into budget and got a $150 price, might be age related for the second driver as NRMA ignored that.

    • $35. Do tell.

      Car, area, value, insurer. Etc.

    • Do you drive a push bike?

      • I’m banking it’s a Boosted Board

    • 420 pa for comp insure

      for real ?

  • $600 more here

  • Insurance prices are driven by lot of factors \ case-to-case and person-to-person

Few of the factors to note are:
    1) Suburb location
    2) KMs driven per Yr
    3) Make n Model
    4) Claims History
    5) Age Licence obtained
    6) Loyalty to provider
    7) Sum Insured
    8) Excess chosen
    9) Under age drivers excluded…so on…

  • Wouldn’t waste your time, better insurers out there. Would stay away and not have to jump through all their hoops

    • Suggestions please for what insurers you would recommend to check out - my insurance is coming up this March! Suggestions from everyone would be good also - I'm currently with AAMI.

      • Requote AAMI on a fresh quote online, never go with their renewal offer.

        • Not always, some new quotes I've gotten from AAMI were WAY more than my renewal, and other years they were close but if I added in a few extras I currently get for 'free' then the quote was higher than my renewal.

I always email them though and ask to reduce the price and they knock another $50 or so off it. And they're still the cheapest out of all the quotes I get.

  • same condition i provoded tp BD but 100 dollar more than my existing RACQ? so I pay 100 to buy jb hifi gift card?

  • +1

Thanks OP - worked out around $60 cheaper than staying with Allianz, throwing in the JB voucher is the cream on top.

  • I've been smashed up the back twice not at fault and they want an extra $250 or so because of this!

Otherwise it would of been a 'steal' of a policy

    • we had our car stolen (with another insurer), so not our fault for sure, BD don't even want to insure us…

      • They have a reputation of dropping claimants. They like only insuring perfect people.

        • I see… they are not only the ones though… pretty happy with Real Insurance…

  • Mine came to almost half of what I pay Suncorp per year. I'm really considering moving to BD.

  • Quoted $10/month more than my current insurer. Not sure if it's worth the hassle.

    • Go with yearly one. You'll save more

      • Nah, I prefer RAC. Was only going to swap over until I got my gc and then cancel and swap back.

wont touch Budget insurance with a 10-foot pole, and i hope they go out of business.

I had a minor accident (i.e. under $2500 in damages) and they refused to reinsure me.

    • Maybe they did their homework?

      • The essay scotty asked you to write?

  • When did 30 become the new 25 for 'performance' vehicles?

Guess they don't want my money…

    • Maybe their metrics were based on the guy in ad?

  • +1

I’ve been having comprehensive cover with BD for the last 4 years and decide to leave. Never made a single claim or get involved in any accident/violation yet they decide to increase my premium at a rediculous rate every year. Did some research and ended up signing with Youi with much better value at cheaper rate.

  • I requested a quote last night and requested a call back today. Lucky i didnt sign before i saw this.

Ill sign up if it applies to monthly as well

  • ok all seemed rosy lol I was saving 40 cents a month more than who I'm with now (aami) then i spoke to a lady who said you get the $100 gift card after 21 days… however nowhere did it say this whilst i was filling out the forms (and i might add there is a whole lot of information they request)… when you want to cancel - its $40 cancelation fee after the 21 days cooling off period.

  • +1

Hang on a moment, I read the last comment as…
Insure, cancel, overall $60 for the hassle and pleasure of kicking an insurance company.

  • Stay away from Budget Direct.

They look for ways not to pay you, you forget to cross one T and dot one i they will not pay.

    • Serious? Damn the Budget Direct quote for my car is $100 cheaper than my existing insurer and on top of that $100 JB gift card is tempting.

  • This link does not give you a 15% discount. (Even though it is Advertised).
I signed up to a policy last night, and then tried to do it again with this deal and the price went up. The difference is exactly 15% (which is more than the $101 gift card is worth).

    • I got this back from "Ewan" on CHAT.

      "Ewan"
"Regardless of the price being a 15% difference, both the policies actually have the discount.
It does actually make sense that the price would be more on the one policy considering that you receive a $101 e-giftcard."

      to which I responded
"So you are saying that there is really a 15% premium (followed by a 15% discount) to compensate for the fact that you are doing a egift promo? This is very wrong. here is the link to the promo https://www.finder.com.au/insurance "

  • Hi, has anyone figured out how to claim the gift card. I called customer service and after being transferred to different departments I was told go to finder.com.au and there is a "link" which I can't find?

    • If you find out can you let me know aswell, I'm in the same. Boat

    • Same boat here too….

  • Hi folks

FYI - i just received an email for my 2 x $101 gift cards for JB Hifi. Turns out it wasn't just a scam after all!

    • nice :-)
