Pawever Pets 42" Collapsible Metal Dog Playpen / Crate $69 (Save $20) + Free Shipping Australia Wide @ Kogan

30

Was searching for a dog crate that was cheaper than the local pet store options. Noticed the Kogan option is on special after already being a competitive price. A breeder friend of mine rates the Kogan crates quite highly compared to the first one he bought which is the 800 Series crate from Pet Barn for $244 with same dimensions.

  • Or $67.85 from the ebay store, using PICK5 coupon.

  • kmart has ones for $29 bucks. suitable for medium sized dogs tho.

    • Yeah this is a large crate capable of comfortably fitting a Husky. I have tried the Kmart ones too and they are no where near as good as the Kogan ones for the money.

      • Even big enough to hold Ruslan.

    Prison for dogs :(

As a temporary keep for occasions such as house repair etc. so they won't get hurt.

crate training is part of dog training. It is not cruel unless you keep them in there all day long all the time.

Once they are ready to be bossed around by the cat, they can be let out.

I got my 8 year old Wiener a crate because I had a short time I needed her locked up safe for a short time. I got one with a cover, she loves it, its her preferred bed even over the couch.

some dogs like it because it is a safe space for them. When you throw a drape over it, it feels like a cozy space rather than a cage.

        How big is your wiener?

    • Prison for dogs

Although I don't use them as I'm always home with my doggie, they aren't a prison if you start early and accustom them to it.

Crate training takes a little while but most dogs learn to love them as they feel safe and secure, you can't just throw one in there the first time and lock it up.

Had an idiot neighbour do that with his 45KG rottie and it destroyed the cage and got out in a few minutes.

Not necessarily, it can be like a bedroom for a dog. My dog loves to bring snacks into the cage to chew. He also naturally likes to hang out in there. The door is always open and unlocked unless the floor is being mopped.

    Breeding dogs in cages.. YUCK.

I have never found a time when I need to cage my dog at home.

    • +4

Who mentioned breeding IN cages. It's somewhere for the dogs to sleep at night. It also helps with keeping the dogs separated when on heat etc.

      • +2

People just see a cage and assume it's going to be misused. The same way they see fat in food and think it's the devil himself. Next we'll see the "Omg you bought a knife? You must commit a lot of domestic abuse!!!"

      • They're on heat for a couple of weeks. I hope you don't keep your dog in this cage for that period. That would be cruel by any standard.

Breeding is bad enough as it is thank you. There are enough dogs in rescue homes without people trying to make a buck and putting their dog in constant pregnancy cycles.

    • No loving dog owner who puts the DOG FIRST would put them through litters.
      Fact.
      Spay and neuter,early.

      • rescue is far better option

        Spay and neuter,early.

Or you could just be a responsible owner and not neuter at all.

Neutering a dog can cause medical issues (hip dysplasia, tumours and cancer), the only reason it's fashionable in this country is because shelters don't want to deal with unwanted pups.

In some European countries it's actually illegal to neuter your pet unless you have a valid medical reason.

Will never neuter my male dog, ever.

        • Amen

        • Easy decision to make when you're not the one who is going to end up with an unwanted litter of pups.

        • @mr fox:

So risk a dog's health rather than be responsible?

Other countries do fine without butchering dogs.

If someone can't control their animal then they shouldn't have one.

        • Source?

        • @PattyMatty:

On my phone at the moment, I'm sure you can find the info yourself but here's a quick one I found:

        • @Scab:

Early desexing delays growth plate closure.
For most pets it really doesn't matter but if you plan on doing dog sports or working your dog its best to wait until 12months+

        • @thirtysixd:

          Not only early.

  • Does it come with that awesome golden retriever in the pic???
