  • Reasonable price, but it would be hypocritical of me to pay for Plus nowadays.

    • +1

May I know why it would be hypocritical?

      • +20

Well I can't very well go around yelling about how

. They've upped the price a few times now despite
. The quality of the games on offer dropping substantially since
. They started basically forcing you into the service with multiplayer, even though
. It STILL doesn't run as well as Xbox Live and is regularly down, and also
. They're gonna drop the PS3/Vita games in a year, but not drop the price accordingly

Only to just go and buy it the second it's on sale.

        • Haha that is true. When you are only playing on PS and you got no choice to get PS+ and you can't stop complaining when they price increase or a bad month of games announced.

Luckily the offering is slowly catching back up from the stale year.

Hopefully they find a way to balance out the removal of ps3/vita games next year with something new. I still play my vita :(

        • Its not hypocritical if you need it to play online games on pS plus.

I may not like the price of electricity but I still need electricity.

BTW i disagree with ur points and im perfectly happy with my PS plus membership

        • +3

In March the "free" games are Bloodborne (92 metacritic) and Ratchet and Clank (85 metacritic). Those are both fantastic games.

        • @goodhasgone:

Agreed, on the whole the free games have been above average (thanks to the big hitters like the above and MGS5).

        • +4
          • Price is identical to Xbox Live Gold
          • Quality of games has always fluctuated, next month looks to be the best ever
          • Yes, you need the service for online multiplayer, but again, it’s the same situation with the competition
          • I agree, Live has better infrastructure, is more reliable
          • They’re gonna drop PS3/Vita titles in a year, yes. But without backwards compatibility on PS4, how much longer should games for an 11 year old system be part of the service?
        • +2

@aja12: to counter your argument Xbox one supports backward compatibility with library of 360 games only increasing going forward and they include 360 games every month in Live Gold that you can play on Xbox one.

Nothing like that exists in PSN.
11 years old or not, games are still playable and mostly better than 8 bit indie crap that gets released on PS4.

        • -1

@ozdesi: You’re countering an argument that I never made. I own a One X and a PS4 Pro, I’m well aware of what each offer.

        • +1

@ozdesi: XBOX One supports backwards compatibility and has a great XBOX 360 back catalog, too bad it doesn't have anything in the way of exclusives for this generation though. I think XBOX 360 + PS4 + Switch is the way to go.

        • +1

Yep we have xbox and ps4 but only subscribe to xbox, more games each month due to xbox360 library.

        • +1 I'm annoyed psn plus doesn't automatically add the games to your account. I missed games including demon souls in one of my first months.

        • &
If you stop renewing even once you loose all free games & saves.

          ALL POOF!

What ever your free entitelmemts are available untill you keep forking out yearly renewals.

Got it. While in Xbox free is free and is your to keep it wether you renew or not.

        • +2

          @Enjj0y:

Just a clarification on your post. All Xbox 360 games you download through Gold are free to keep, regardless of subscription status. All Xbox One games you download through Gold will expire when the subscription expires. You can regain access by re-subscribing.

All PS+ games you download will expire when the subscription expires. You can regain access by re-subscribing. No poof involved.

        • -2

@mavis30551: thats because you are a PS fan boy.

Personally, i used to be. Until I bought an xbox one and I've got to admit, I havent played the PS4 in months.

Xbox Live is heaps better than ps+.

        • -1

          @Suspect420:

You lost all credibility when you said fan boy.

This is oz bargain not the school yard, let the big boys talk.

        • -1

@mavis30551: Fanboy: a male fan, especially one who is obsessive about games, comics, music, film, or science fiction.

You sound like your twelve - its an actual word. tsk tsk

        • -1

@Suspect420: What? of coarse I know its a word. Id have to be a lot younger than twelve and live under a rock to not know what a fan boy is.

Honestly, you couldn't of missed the point more.

        • What!? They are dropping PS3 games in a year? I better download them ASAP on my Vita and PS3!

      • +2

He started seeing an X-Box on the side last year.

        • going PS4 to Xbox is Miranda Kerr Leaving Orlando Bloom and dating Jimmy Packer…

        • @andrgram:

I can't quite figure out if that's a good or a bad thing XD

        • +1

@Munkeyalan: haha James Packer looks like Shrek on a bad day.

        • +1

          @andrgram:

Well a very cashed up Shrek

        • +1

@andrgram: she now has married the snap chat ceo she a gold digger

        • +3

well she did end up with a richer man than bloom …… guess some people just like the life style wealth brings. ….. and you too can get the feeling of opulence that only comes from owning an xbox …..

  • Mine runs out next month, good timing. Thanks!

  • +1

Awesome! Been in the hunt for weeks now. Never used PS+ until Monster Hunter World, it's so much fun (and make it easier for some quests) with multiplayer.

  • Do you know if we could use or how to use ultimate gift card online? Or this deal is in store too?

    • You can use it at checkout :)

      • Are you sure? i've tried it and it doesnt work. Looking at the card again this looks like eftpos card and it said "To Use: swipe card, selecting savings, enter PIN".

        • Oh damn maybe not then, I know gift cards can be redeemed for this, but I guess ultimate kids is different..

    • This deal is in store too to use with ultimate teen gift card you got from Coles this week!

Scanned at 25% off. Staff doesnt even realised

  • Smacks head - just redeemed PSN credit the other day I bought from JB in anticipation for a PSN Store sale on PSN+

    • +1

      buy another one, it stacks.

      • Haha, I will be, so I do appreciate this post.

To be honest, I hadn't bought the sub just yet, so I'll probably buy a couple of these and then just have $100 credit I can use for games and stuff.

So it could have been worse - I could have already subscribed :)

  • About time Playstation members got a deal on PSN plus ;) Nice find

  • +2

Just in time to get Bloodborne free for the month pale bloods.

  • +2

Still sad they are cancelling free PS3 and Vita games in early 2019!

    • Hopefully will mean better quality PS4 titles… Surely most gamers that pay for a monthly sub will have upgraded from PS3 by then, you can get a PS4 for like $250. Can see why the 8 people that still play on vita are annoyed though.

      • +3

The Vita still sells so strongly in Japan but! Haha I am one of the 8 in the West though lol. Was hoping that the most AAA titles would be made free later down the track.

        • Haha, I too live on Vita Island.

  • +2

EB is also offering this deal at the moment.

    • +1

Thanks added it in, seems to be in store only for EB

    • Proof? Every store in the country?

      • +1

Two local stores I've walked by today have had ads playing. I've got no idea if it's all stores. I'd think so though.

        • thanks, I'll drop by eb this afternoon

      • +2

Definetely in all eb stores nation wide. (EB employee here)

    • +1

Thanks for posting this. Was about to buy it from JB but went into EB and bought it instead. I need to get my points up for better return options.

  • Do u need this to play online? Ie if u have street fighter 5 and u wanna play online. Is this required?

    • +1

      Yes: Street Fighter V PS4

PlayStation Plus required for online play

      • So is it a case that most online games require this? Or all online games?

        • Most. I noticed fortnite doesn't need ps+ which was interesting.

        • I think as a general rule, free-to-play games don't need PS+ to play online. They don't want to prevent people getting into those because they make their money from various in-game transactions, so the more people in there the more money they're likely to make.

Regular kind of games that you just buy up front (COD, Battlefield, Overwatch, FIFA, etc) pretty much all need PS+.

        • Fortnite (battle royal) is treated as beta since it isn't paid for so doesn't require PS+ from my understanding.

  • I'd get one if I wasn't already subscribed to 2020 as a result of the $49 annual subscription sale last year

  • +4

While I'm generally a fan of PS+, some of the fine print on the details there is interesting. It says "get top-rated games on your PS4 every month…", then the small print down the bottom says "*Top-rated is based on a Metacritic rating of 70+".

Last month we got Knack, if you look at metacritic, that has a rating of 54!

    • From they I'd state that ome game has to be 70+ and the rest whatever.

    • To be fair, last month, we also received RiME and Grand Kingdom, which have metacritic scores of 80 and 78 respectively. Thus the wording of the small print has been satisfied.

    • Well technically it doesn't imply that every game offered is top rated, last month we had Rime (80), Grand Kingdom (76) etc so bundling in rubbish like Knack doesn't make that statement any less true.

    • Honestly, most of the good games offered so far are older games. To be fair, XB Live Gold is kind of the same. Game pass is slightly better, and the March lineup will include a launch day exclusive.

Still have an active SEA PS+ subscription (still cheaper than the AU one even with this 25% discount: $40 AUD vs $59.95 AUD). Interestingly, Rachet & Clank was already offered free previously for SEA PS+ (so it will be interesting to find out which other game they will include instead).

    • Knack would have only made the cut as it is a PS only title so they are supporting the developers that have made PS exclusives which is only fair.

  • Could anyone clarify if the free games on offer can be still be played after the month they are offered in?
    Thx

    • +3

Yes, they get added to your library and are playable so long as you have an active ps+ subscription. If you end up cancelling your subscription, the same games will be available whenever you renew it, however the ps+ games that you didn't claim during the Offline period won't be available

      • Great. Thanks for the thorough answer!

      • So basically you own the games for life but you can only play them with an active PS+ subscription? Like Microsoft’s games with gold.

        • -1

I thought GWG let you keep the games even if your subscription lapsed?

        • Oh really? That'd be good to know, there's months at a time where I don't touch the xbox live and there's no GWG games I want, but I still want to play the old GWGs offline. I know I'll touch PS+ even less than Xbox live, but I did want to buy Bloodborne anyway so..

        • @AngusD: Used to on 360 I think but not anymore.

        • @AustriaBargain: Like I said on the March Free Games post, though, if all you want is Bloodborne then you might be better off waiting for a sale. I've seen it on PSN for under $20 including the DLC. And if you buy that you can keep it forever, not just until your PS+ subscription ends. Although if you want to play online, then you'll need PS+ anyway, in which case yeah, PS+ is the way to go…

      • Does anyone know what will happen with PS3 downloads? Makes no sense to keep up the sub after they stop new games. Wonder if they will let you keep playing what you have without a sub???

        • Interesting question.

        • You still need a sub to play the PS3 downloads on PS3. It's just they will not offer any more PS3 games to the monthly "free" games approx. 12 months from now.

  • +3

Sale runs from today (2nd of March), until the 22nd of March, according to the jb website advert.

  • I just paid for this and in my JB HiFi purchase history this transaction comes up as CANCELLED.

Maybe they're run out of codes and can't fulfil anymore orders?

    • Mine got cancelled too, I sent them an e-mail and apparently it's because I ordered whilst on my VPN.

      • Yep I got the same reply. I ordered while at work and we use a VPN. Hopefully my card wasn't charged like they promised and I'll just rebuy.

  • Shame they didn't stuff up the pricing this time round!

  • aww not as good as last time when they stuffed up the pricing back in June lol

    • just saw those edits, my god what a clusterf#ck.

  • Renewal was today actually so perfect timing.

  • Does anyone know if PlayStation network going to have a sale on plus? With similar price..

  • Nice. How long is this deal on for?

2 March until 22 match according to banner on jb

  • Create a HK PSN account and you can pick up 1 Year PSN for about $50 I believe (I only did 3 months for $18 as a test)

The bonus is all accounts on the PS4 can play online if the HK account is signed into it. So you can use your regular AU account to game online.

    • +1

Go for the SEA PSN account ($40 AUD only). Though, Rachet & Clank was free a month or two ago for SEA PSN.
The save game mess / issue does apply if you already have AU save games for the games you get for free in another region.

  • -_- cant buy anymore already stacked till 2022 but thanks OP for the post.

  • JB Hifi has a Limit 1 per customer :(

  • -7

Man, it must be complete rip-off normally.

    • Compared to my electricity bill for 1 month, PS Plus 12 month subscription fee even at RRP is nothing compared to the electricity cost (already on LED lights, yet the electricity bill is still outrageous).

    • -2

$1,800 worth of games for $79.95 normally, what's not to like?

  • mine expires in 3 days! good timing. thx!

  • Forgive my noobness,

I have a 12 month sub now, I just purchased it this month, so it will end like 10/02/19, if I buy this, will it stack on? The T&Cs state: "It expires 12 months from date of purchase", so I can buy it and apply it on now or apply it when my 12 months is nearly up?

    • +1

Yes, you can stack. So if you purchase another 12 months now, it will just extend your membership by another 12 months (10/02/20 in your case).

      • Thanks!! :D

  • +3

Same price off PSN store itself if you ceebs inputting codes.

    • Cheers.

    • Thanks, yeah I rather just buy it from the store itself, lazyness level 100
