Was in the market for a new laptop and came across this. I'm not a gamer but the specs look very impressive. Cheaper than Dell and with a larger SSD.

Same price as on eBay. Did you post to see if people think it's a good deal before you pull the trigger?

    • +7

Yeah, noticed it was cheaper on ebay but they are refurbished. Plus I prefer to deal with a store - personal preference.

      • -5

So did you make a purchase yet?

        • +13

just because he posted something doesn't mean he has to buy it… he/she basically sharing something that might be of interest to some people looking for a laptop…

@sky blu: i have, why do you have to be so negative?
the one on ebay is refurb therefore not new. big difference mate.

        • +4

@sky blu: why don't you neg it, you are simply disagreeing with this post.

or are you too afraid people might hammer down on you ;)

        • +5

@theone4u: I'm not being negative. I am well aware of refurbished and new offerings.

You do realise a lot of Dell Inspiron 15 with GTX 1060 were sold during the eBay 20% tech discount for $1.3k right?

        • @sky blu:

Unfortunately not everyone can buy when these sales are available.

        • +5

@sky blu: key word "were" this is now not then. if there is something similar then post it. instead of having a go at the OP.

Your input is simply sour directed to the OP.

The Op says in the 1st line of the description -

Was in the market for a new laptop and came across this.

So sky blu asks if the Op has made a purchase yet, what's wrong with that?

Unfortunately not everyone can buy when these sales are available.

When a much better price could have been had literally less than 1 week ago?

@theone4u: I'm not being sour or negative or whatever. I am simply saying this price is normal. This is Ozbargain, one is supposed to do research before making purchases. Nearly 2 hours in and this post has less than 10 votes. Would you have purchased this laptop when you know a much better price could have been had literally less than 1 week ago?

Neg-vote can only be dispensed when it's appropriate. I'm not casting it because I don't see any reason to, and I'm not upvoting because it just isn't a great bargain. Since this deal is normal price, my original comment simply brings to the attention of potential buyers that a cheaper price can be found on eBay, albeit refurbished condition. On eBay, a further 5% discount code is applicable.

          @theone4u:
Negging due to the fact that a much better specced system was as low as $1.3K during the Ebay tech discount

Now you're having a go at sky blu, what's wrong with asking "did you make a purchase yet?".

        • +6

@theone4u: Member sky blu's pertinent questions assist in evaluating OP's deal and they do not equate to sourness or "having a go".

@sky blu: 20% off 2 grand is 1600… maybe you should've finished high school.

        • -2

          @sky blu: re-furbished… = secondhand porn machine.

        • @Well Wasted: Who even talked about 20% on RRP? Maybe you should have learnt Quick Maffs.

And also learn to read. Trash-talk is easy.

        • i bought one… the alienware laptop with the same specs is over 2 grand.

You can get better laptops and prices on eBay brand new just type "GTX 1060 laptop" in the search bar and sort by "lowest price + postage".

But from a reputable brick and mortar website and store this is pretty good.

Maybe only save $100-200 AUD on eBay brand new more if used.

    Your choice.

  • if the price difference is only around 100-200 new is a better option tbh.

If your looking for a lap top for Uni studies the Dell Inspiron 15 5570 i5 8g ram 256SSD was good. Price just went up to $1019, but was $1199. Son did a whole excel matrix and that model came up as the best overall - top 3. When all things considered. And he had a matrix of spec and pricing. Hes had it for a week so far no issues. He managed to get it for $939 and has a $40 Dell Voucher as well.

FYI - this laptop has popped up a few times over the past 3 months for $1359 with:a worse CPU but better GPU, a better SSD but no HDD.

  • Compared to the JB Acer Nitro deal last week.. Is there even a need to finish this sentence?

  • Yeh that acer nitro deal that was only $1700 online, popped back up in the JB HI FI store for $2700. I wouldn't spend $1600 if its only got a gtx 1050ti
