  • Cheaper than JumboPets, which is my go-to for dog meds. Good price.

We've just switched to one that includes flea, ticks and heartworm in one tablet, and I think works out cheaper than giving them separately. Can't remember the name though.

    • Nexguard Spectra it's called.

I used to give my doggie Nexguard (but the one that doesn't do heartworm) and he got so itchy that he pulled clumps of fur out of his arse.

Switched to Bravecto and not a single issue, and unlike Nexguard it's only every 3-4 months instead of monthly.

What I don't get about Nexguard is that the regular one that doesn't do heartworm contains 136 mg of the active ingredient afoxolaner (for fleas and ticks), while Nexguard Spectra which does heartworm as well only has 75 mg of the active ingredient afoxolaner.

Anyway, thanks OP, been waiting for a special on these.

Just saying, Budget pet product is still a whole one dollar cheaper @$39.74 for one Pill, which is my Goto Flea/Worm treatment shop.

    • There’s a lot of loyalty to Pet Circle around here, but you really do have to check each item. I find generally for the things I buy that Budget Pet is almost always the cheapest.

You really need to check each product as they often swap around who is cheapest especially food.

  • Anyone else's dog refuse to eat Bravecto?

    • Mine used to, although he hates Interceptor (heartworm and intestinal worms) even more (don't blame him, it stinks of chemicals).

I started by cutting it up into a couple of smaller pieces and opening his mouth and did it manually, or I would take the pieces and put them in some meat.

Now I play a game with him and throw it on the ground and run after it, which makes him want it and he grabs and eats the whole thing in one go.

      • my lab salivates at interceptor and swallows it..probably just a lab thing, will eat anything..

        • Lol, I don't think there's anything a lab won't eat.

    • Mine until coated in peanut butter.

    • Mine used to pretend they won't eat it until we coated them in something tasty.

Now we make them do something beforehand (i.e. sit) and they think it's a treat and gobble it down!

I should mention I didn't coat the dog in peanut butter, just the Bravecto.

    • Thanks I've tried most these suggestions except coating my whole dog in peanut butter :p
My dog will eat whatever whatever pill is coated in and spit out bravecto bits unless it is crushed to powder.
Will eat anything else must smell something in these pills. Drontal worming isn't much better…

  • I used to give Bravecto + Interceptor combo, which works out to be $20/month.

Then I switched to Nexgard Spectra all-in-one, which is ~$13/month. No problem so far.

  • This is a good deal for a good product, but beware of the use-by dates.

These products have active ingredients that, if expired (or close to), are effectively useless.

I've bought other similar brands on special and have them do literally nothing as they were close to expiring.

  • Can the store rep please give an update on best before dates please - I'm after the very small dog size
