Guessing this is the 2016 model>?

Yes, based on the photo, it is the 2016 model.

    is this worth buying?

I was thinking about buying one last year. Watched the following video.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57MpKpjaxYc

My concern was the overheating issue on the 2016 model. It was enough for me not to pull the trigger. Also, if you want to use it on an i-device (i.e. iPhone), you need the 2017 model. This one (2016 model) won't work.

      • Great review. The video in its entirety is super interesting. I agree with you absolutely in theory but I'd also expect 4k for over 20 minutes straight recording would bring some heat. Think my S8+ would be worse under same conditions.

people recommend to use high quality memory card (class 10, fast writing speed) to avoid overheating issue.

      • I bought one when it's was on sale for $130. Yes it overheats. Took it to barranjoey hike only to find it only recorded 8 mins of footage instead of 20+mins. This is with wifi off.

The app only works with Samsung phones (S6 or newer) so you'll need to stitch the videos on a computer if you don't have a compatible phone.

The quality itself is nice. You do notice stitching when things are less than 1m away.

        • nope, working with my huawei. there is app at xda forum for any (most) android phones.

        • @dragonindespair: yeah that's patchy, wouldn't even work with a note 4

  • Great little camera, have lots of fun with mine. I've only had it overheat once and that was with continuous (30m+) writing to the unsuitable MicroSD.
