I come across this while browsing the amazon AU site. Not sure if the seller is legit but amazon has a very good reputation for protecting its customer so I am willing to risk it myself this time.

I think Sports 2018, Original Store 2018 and OriginalSale are the same guys..
These stores are getting launched daily and previous ones getting disappeared. Something fishy about these stores…

    Previous ones for reference -
    $171 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/365911
    $319 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/366033

      Scam is like money laundering.

They are just getting money in, holding it temporarily, then having it either be covered by Amazon guidelines and they keep it, or they secede it back to Amazon, meanwhile they're holding 100's of $300.

This happened on Amazon US too.

    • +2

"I think Sports 2018, Original Store 2018 and OriginalSale are the same guys.. "

next store name pops up: original sport, original sale, sports sale.

    • +3

Surely you can't start a popup store on Amazon without going through some vetting process?

      • +3

Yeah this is the worrying thing - can't believe how easy it has been… I really hope Amazon is holding onto all that $$$ that's been flowing for these sellers until they are proved to be delivered and original/fake etc

  • +4

just launched | No feedback yet

    Just a heads up peeps!

  • will Amazon refund if the seller is dodgy?

    • +1

IMO, I'd say most likely but stuff like this can really hurt AmazonAU in the long run. Not worth the hassle too.

      • +2

I agree. Amazon need to police their affiliates to make sure the dodgy ones are caught before posting.

  • The Go To Deal link is taking me to a listing where the price is $429 and after adding to card gets discounted to $351. Is this the right deal ?

    Here we go again…

One of the best purchases I have ever made. Having said that be careful where you buy it from. This weird pricing thing that's been going on for a few days via Amazon 3rd party and seen here on ozbargain is looking suspicious as. Don't ruin your experience trying to save $50 or so. Buy from a reputable dealer. I've purchased via videopro. Very happy. TLDR. 10/10 for the product now buy from a 10/10 seller source for a little more.

  • -6

    expired, back to $429.90

    • Still showing as $299 for me

  • -7

I found a slightly better deal!!

    https://www.thrifter.com/bose-quietcomfort-35-ii-wireless-he…

Ebay will refund you if it's a scam too, if you pay via their paypal.

    Happy bargains!!

    • thats usd

    • Expired?

      • +2

na still on, u have to apply the 20%off codes. but its in usd (about $355 in aud) not a bargain…

    • and doesnt ship to australia

    • This is bestbuy at us. Not au stock. and this is US$ not AU$

  • still shows $299 for me

  • i still have it in cart for $299… why is it that other buyers have significantly higher price?

    • Read above, this seller is most likely the same as the other dodgy listing.

    • +4

question would be.. why is that this buyer have significantly damn low price?

      • Buyer as in blabeta or seller from Amazon?

        • yeah.. I meant seller in Amazon :)

        • @Being Askhole: Because they probably have no stock. It's plausible someone with a bit more buying power could do it (like Costco has the Sony WH-1000XM2 for $279) but there's no way some 2-bit no name called "Sports 2018" or "Original Sale" could.

      • interest free overdraft at your expense.

Mods should be taking action and put a warning note on these posts.

  • The non-genuine units look, feel and sound amazing. Can't explain how they are as good as they are but here is an easy way to tell if they are fake:

Download the Bose smartphone app, if they connect they are legit. :)

  • +8

Amazon direct is $344 (after 20% off) so I think that's a safer bet and still a very good price

    • +1

yeah an extra $45 is probably worth it, to make sure it is legit.

Come on guys… these "Just launched" marketplace sellers are a well known Amazon scam: https://www.forbes.com/sites/wadeshepard/2017/01/02/amazon-s…

Now that Amazon is in Australia, it looks like the scammers have followed them to our shores as well. We keep posting these as "I'll take my chance" or "it could be a price error" but it's pretty simple - its too good to be true, and all you are doing by purchasing from these sellers is telling them that their scams work!

    • +1

I can't believe Amazon is just willing to sit there and take the losses. Perhaps the next bargain that should be posted up is how easily Amazon can be scammed.

  • any update on the purchases from sports 2018 store?

    • my ASICS Kayano has been shipped
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/365975

      • hmm.. interesting finger cross and good luck for all of us

      • I hope that its legit, but considering the seller has disappeared from Amazon I have my doubts. A quote from the Forbes article about Amazon scammers I posted earlier:

When the orders come rolling in they almost immediately claim that the items have left the seller facility and are in transit to the carrier — which releases the payment to their account. But they don’t actually ever ship out anything. In all likelihood, they never really even have the items they are claiming to be selling in the first place.

The game now is to buy time, to wait out Amazon’s two week payment cycle before the negative feedback and customer complaints inevitably begin coming in. To do this, these merchants claim that their items will not arrive for three to four weeks from the purchase date, which enables them to get paid long before customers even start wondering where their stuff is.

Does this site have MODS!!?? Do not buy anything too good to be true from Amazon or Ebay. Falling for these sales from zero feedback sellers is like your grandma falling for a Nigerian prince.

Amazon is full of these scams. Don’t fall victim.

Here’s an article showing it’s been happening for ages. It uses the popular Nintendo Switch as an example but goes on to say it’s certainly not limited to it. It also says how they escape with the money.

    https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www.polygon.com/platform/amp…

    • Does this site have MODS!!??

      Yes, use the report link.

Link removed, seller banned pending outcome.

      • +2

Thanks, will note for the future. There has been far too many of these posts recently, hence my reaction.

        • meh if people are stupid enough to keep buying from these sellers despite the multiple alarm bells, let them.

As they say - A fool and his money.. you know the rest

        • MODS is actually an acronym for Mostly Over Dramatised Situations. Yes, this is one of them.

        • +1

          @Putnum: whatever gets their attention…

  • +3

Agree with everyone else. New sellers without ratings are essentially scams. This is a known problem with Amazon. Avoid at all costs!

  • Probably fake

  • +9

There really should be a system where you can't post sellers without good reputation. The same as ebay, where you cant post deals without power seller status.

Unless this seller is confirmed, I don't think deals should be allowed.

Negging on this front so others are not impacted by this, the last thing I want is for ozb to lose it's reputation over this.

The safest thing right now is to buy from Amazon AU directly or sellers we know about.

    • +1

Agreed - I'm sure there are people who are willing to risk it to find out if they got a really good deal but I don't think they should entice others who won't normally do it do follow suit based on up-votes/ fear of missing out.

    • +1

Yeah have to agree with this Doweyy - I feel a bit guilty for posting the original Bose deal for $171 as I thought it was just a price error and would get a cancellation & $50 voucher. Also wasn't aware that sellers could send from China, where you would have to say a great deal of fakes would be coming from. Hopefully we're all a little more aware that this can take place on Amazon AU and better prepared for the next scammer/bogus seller

      • +1

Don't feel guilty! I'm sure it happens to a lot of people, it's really hard to adapt to websites that are new in aus, I'm sure Amazon will take a firm stance on this now if it was a large scam.

  • -3

Seriously guys - and I have said this over and over and over again to Ozbargain mods, step in before your customers, yes us which rely on sites like this for official bargains become angry customers of your site.

I have been caught up in the "Sports 2018" saga, new storefront, purchased item, suddenly disappeared.

Amazon AU needs to check these out, do their due-diligence.

OzBargain - you have an obligation to check these as well, before approving the post, you need to ensure it is legit… come on guys, if I draw a line your liable here too, don't wash your hands of this.

Down voting due to potential scam, protecting others from same mistake I made

    • you have an obligation to check these as well, before approving the post,

We don't approve posts. All deals are posted and then we have to deal with issues after the fact.

I've removed the link, changed the title, banned the store, and put a note in the description.

I'm now subscribed to all Amazon posts so we'll see if we can work out how to block these suspicious businesses.

      • +2

Thanks for checking, I think you are doing all you can to keep on top of this. The way people post it is hard to keep up. We all have to be vigilant. You think Amazon would be more concerned about its reputation.

        • We'll see if we can implement guidelines based on ratings like we do with eBay & AliExpress.

    • +2

Totally agree with most of what you say, but to be fair in my listing I clearly stated that it was a new seller and 'Buyer Beware'

Quite a few of us jumped on not ever expecting to get the headphones, but that it may be a price error and get a voucher for our 'troubles'

Saying that, I do think as Doweyy and others have suggested and has been confirmed by the mods that they will look into implementing guidelines based on rating

I'm hoping that getting our money back is going to be a pain free exercise…best of luck!

  • These QC35II Amazon Deals make me so confused

  • Scam..luckily i cancelled my order few days ago from sports 2018 and got money back..

  • Very sus indeed. Be wary guys.

  • Negging as its highly likely a scam.

    • -3

you don't know that for sure, we need to wait until someone receives their product first

  • +11

Wow, Amazon AU has turned out great! Lol

  • We are currently discussing new guidelines for Amazon deal posts. Very likely we will adopt the same stance that we currently use for Marketplace type posts like eBay or Aliexpress.

  • +5

Just an update on the "Sports 2018" scam, Amazon AU currently have an investigation open on this store, if you have been caught up in this scam or others I recommend that you contact Amazon AU support via help - contact us.

    • Will do - thanks for the info :)

    • How are you certain that this is a scam? I’d wait for the item arrived then assess it from there on.

    • How do you know that there is an investigation open ?
Have contacted Amazon support meanwhile for my order.

Has anyone got response from Amazon for the seller in question ?

  • Once cancelled, how long before you get a refund?

    • Did you get an email saying it was successfully cancelled? I got my money back ~30 hours after I got the email.

      • One of the order had already shipped.
The other order, waiting for them to cancel.

        • Did you use 'contact the seller' to cancel? I reckon its better to request amazon support to cancel the order. I didn't get a reply from the seller for 10 hours but after I asked support they replied and cancelled it in an hour.

        • @jwilthethrill: I did both. If you are home, you can reject the parcel and it will be returned to the sender. Unfortuntely I wont be home, so I guess I will have to prove that the Shure are fake…

        • @congngo:

If you refuse the package and the return does not have tracking information, A-to-z Guarantee Protection claim may not be covered.

        • @ozzbargainer: oh so it better to accept the package and claim counterfeit?

        • @congngo:
I suspect even a counterfiet item would be delivered as tracking informations provided seem to be fake…

Geez. Last year everyone was hyping about Amazon Australia, how they are going to scare eBay and Harvey Norman. Since then all we have are fizzer deals and now this type of scam. Well done, Amazon Australia, well done. I bet Garry Harvey must be sitting in his office laughing at this.

    • +1

the only people they are scaring is us the consumer it seems

  • +1

Thanks mods for all the work you guys have done. This kinda listing probably teaches me to be a responsible buyer and not blame others for any decision I have made or scam I fell victim to.

  • It's a scam

  • Did anyone purchase this ? If yes, has your order been shipped ?
