Best 60"+ 4K TV for under $2000

Hi there,
short story, moving houses, the new house has a cut out for the TV. my wife has realised that our current TV would look small and poxy in this new cut out. so we are going to have to get a bigger TV.
I am looking at 60"+ 4K TV for under $2000, or even as close to that as possible.
it will be used for every day tv viewing, plenty of sports viewing, as well as streaming and watching movies. and hey if I can play some games when the wife isn't using it even better!
what are every suggestions for the best TV I can get at that price range, I'm willing to sacrifice size for better quality picture, but would prefer the 65" size.

let me know your thoughts.

  • Happy for people to post links to current deals as well.

  • will you using it as a cutting board for vegetables?

  • buy some cheap wallpaper to fill behind the tv in the cut out, something that contrasts the colour (black, grey colour of your current TV). perhaps even some aura lighting for ambience ($60).

you can find plenty of 'sticker' wallpaper that you can easily remove. i found some on amazon to cover a damaged wall in a rental.

$20 wallpaper/filler vs $2000 for a new TV, you essentially dont need.

    You sir, have been ozbargained.

    • I actually found the Phiilps LCD's still feature the Backlighting in their TVs, and thought that this would be the only time that it would actually work well.
but who is gonna turn down an opportunity to upgrade their TV?

      • Lucky you had a chance to use it! i dont think it would work either unless its in a nice cut out.

blast that money like its nothing.

Get prepared to queue up early at Aldi's door next Wednesday. Bauhn 60" UHD for $669. Maybe far from "best" but for me it's cheap and Aldi's stuffs are good enough.

  • What about a ambilight style arrangement for the rebate? Do you really need a new TV? Hey, not having a go just saying there might be alternatives to shelling out $2K?

all good mate, I'm actually looking forward to getting a new tele. as per the upgrade system, out current TV will be moved along to replace my old gaming Plasma, and the old Plasma will move to the spare room to replace an old 32" LCD.
So this upgrade is most appreciated.

I will look into Ambilighting as well now, as I think it would work great where the new tv will go
