My Acer aspire died recently, so i need to get a new laptop for Uni
I'm looking to get a 14" or a light 15.6", but not really sure of the best sale times
Currently looking at the Metabox Prime-S from kong computers for ~$1850; should I wait for something better to come along, or just go for it?

Yea good point (more wanting it for uni+games). I was planning to get something slim for home and something cheap for Uni, but might as well go for a better value less portable one for home.
But seriously, its crazy to look at how much portability costs (not saying I'm surprised) $1000+ extra to shave off half a kilo
Kong rarely goes on sale, usually best time to buy is end of financial year or black friday. Boxing day has become a joke, so wouldnt bother at that time.

Best time to buy is after the release of an Intel processor. The latest is the 8th gen intel processors. The 7th gen should be going for cheap nowadays

Unless you're doing pretty hardcore uni work which requires processing and graphical power, I can't see the need for +$1800 laptop.
At the $800-1000 mark, you'll find some really decent laptops, and you can pocket the savings to use on a holiday.
