  • woohoo looks like existing customers get the upgrade automatically!

    • I don't think that is the case. The Old 500MB, $14.99 plans were plan "32" and the new ones are plan "36".

I have however, upgraded as of this morning :)

      • Mmm I haven't upgraded & I have 980Mb of data left this month.

  • do you get an extra bonus if you find our "friend" kev?

    • What, you actually think you will receive anything he promises?

      • i missed the shenanigans of the kevin saga - noticed it yesterday when i was looking for adsl deals….
would "never" have believed him in the 1st place
so no - i wait for nothing :)

  • Can anyone comment on how TPG's 3G service is like in Melbourne City area (compared to Vodafone/3)?

    • it is Optus.
Optus 3G is close to non-existent in all metro areas. They claim there are 'too many people' and it's 'congested'.
expect no 3G if in/near any highrise.

      • Vodafone has officially declared that their network is overcrowded though.

      • Rubbish! It works terrific here in Sydney!

        • Yeah I'm currently on 3/Vodafone. At home, the 3G connection speed is fine. Downloading apps from the Android Market takes a while to start up but I can live with that. It's horrendous in Melbourne Central and that surrounding area (probably because of too many people on the network there). I always wanted to change to TPG or Optus but too many people in Metro areas have advised me against it.

I'm moving further and further away from using call-time and SMSes and closer to more data used through online communication and VOIP services. If only Telstra offered 1GB or more on 49 cap, I'd move without thinking twice.

    • been using tpg for 4mths, it's been fine. swapped from Virgin before that, they're all Optus resellers. I live & work around the Melb CBD,

I'm not a heavy net user. Most mates with iphones have moved to Telstra due to superior coverage. But for $15/mth and used mostly for calls, it's been great.

  • My monthly account rolls over tomorrow and can confirm it never automatically upgrades me. I'm about to do it but last time I did I lost my deposit and they charged me another $20 for no reason.
Is this common practice? I wanted to confirm this with them before making the same mistake again.

    • maybe check your email to know what that $20 was for.

errr, it's been 1GB since it was introduced like 4 months ago.

    OzOBVIOUS?

Again, rubbish. It was 500MB before for the $14.99 plan.

My first month was last month, and it had me down for 500mb of data available.

My new month started 5 days ago, and just logged in to change to the 1gb plan, but it seems to automatically to have put me onto it already.

cmon TPG, reward the $1 subscribers please….. at least 300mb data for dsl customers and 500mb for 9.99 :D

  • Can say I've just changed my plan. Was on the 49 Cap for 9,99 per month with 300 credit. This seemed like a perfect upgrade!

  • I've been on for 4 mths. it was always 500Mb for the $14.95/mth TPG customer plan. I didn't do anything and now I have 1Gb/mth (as of 10 days ago). I suspect there's some people "are making it up as they go long" or haven't rolled over to the new month as of yet.

  • Called up TPG today because i was having issues changing from my existing 500mb plan to 1gb online and she said she wasn't able to do it over the phone because the system is still upgrading. So i'm assuming it must be a fairly new plan. Anyway, i've managed to change over online soon after i got off the phone with them.

  • Hmmm I'm on this plan and mine hasn't upgraded from 500MB, perhaps I will go put the transfer request through online then.

The only downside with these "Talk & Text" plans in the exclusion of 1300/1800 phone numbers. I never realised how often I call those numbers until I started getting billed for them outside my cap! Ouch! Now I use the VoIP or my partners phone who is on the older $49/month "Cap Saver" plan. I wish TPG would just combine the best of each and simplify them down into 1 group again.

there's a website that looks up 1300/1800 numbers and gives u the local number for it

      • Would you be able to find/share it with us please? Such a wesbsite could prove extremely handy for all on these plans.

        UPDATE:
Is this the website you were talking about?

        http://www.e164.org/non-search.php

        • yeah that's it apparently!

  • I have just looked at the TPG site and it still shows 500MB of data not 1 GB

    • Some people say it'll update automatically when your month rolls over. I wanted to make certain as my rollover day is near so I just applied for an online change, that's one way to know for certain.

      • I was thinking of signing up but won't do so unless 1GB is stated on their site.

        • It's clearly stated on their mobile plan page!

  • Ok, so I put Telstra`s fault reporting number 132203 on the http://www.e164.org/non-search.php website and as an output i get: Non-Geographical Search Results
    +61132203 +611800612219

    Still no local number. Help!

  • EDIT: change of question

Is there a way to bill separately and still get the TPG deal? I've got the rest of the family on TPG mobile and Internet, and I'm just out of plan with 3.
