Genuine Factory Seconds item. In box with remote etc and* 1 year RTB warranty

Really kills the deal for the unwary! Two big selling points for Hisense as a brand are 3 years warranty manufacturer's warranty is in-home…this is significant risk on a factory second for not enough price reduction gain IMHO! Sorry, but neg from me!

    • +2

Who would buy such a massive TV and risk having to RTB. Especially if you mount it on the wall. Bugger that.

      • +1

If you mount it on the wall - even if warranty is @home - you have to take it off - the warranty ppl will not touch it till its off the wall.

        • +1

The service tech that repaired my friends TV assisted him to remove it off the wall. That wasn't my main point anyway.

        • +3

Complete rubbish Tanuj; I had my last LCD wall mounted, it needed a new mobo under warranty & it was no issue…the tech & I lifted it off together!

        • +2

lol not to mention there's a massive difference between taking it off the wall, and RTB…

JB sell this for $1589 - 600 dollars is not a good enough price reduction! wow.. saving 1/3 cost IMHO is a significant price reduction.

      • JB sell a brand new unblemished product with a proper warranty. Yours is a factory second. Not a fair comparison.

        • +2

True - and thats why a buyer will pay $600 less. It is still a full working product backed by Hisense as a factory seconds product.

        • +1

RTB delivery fee would be pretty costly for the customer. 3 year warranty + in home service it worth the extra $600 and it would be new from JB

but the price is pretty good

      • +2

I'm sure JB would cut a few $100 off to make it cheaper than $1589 rrp if haggled

        • +2

Damn straight, I got nearly $300 off the older 42" 100Hz for a family member a year or so ago at my local JB! Got the right salesman, ~$1800 became ~$1500! :)

      • +1

$1589?i can buy a brand new sony 46" led tv.

  • +1

If it is infact $589 cheaper practically, then its a decent deal. Warranty sucks though, but i'm sure many would be willing to risk it for the almost $600 discount.

  • JB have no stock. http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/plasma-lcd-tvs/lcd%20tv/hisen…

The warranty comments are very valid. This is a large tv that would require 2 men to remove it from the wall and box it up. There's also the cost of shipping it - Auspost won't touch it as it's too large, so it's left to the buyer to organise a courier. An ok deal for those who like to take a chance. I don't see the point in negging the deal however - as they say "one mans meat is anothers poison".

    • +1

Shipping is our hassle - we send it to interstate buyers - so the buyer does not have to organize item to be shipped to them. We also assist buyers with discounted shipping if any fault develops within the warranty period. Return shipping if there is a problem is only about $50-$60 from most of Australia - and that is IF the product does develop fault. These units are coming direct from Hisense Australia.

    • +1

The neg is for such a significant deviation from the conditions of warranty that are standard pretty much across the board for a new TV like this!

The price seems ok at face value, but could become a costly trap for the unwary…for example, what's the pixel defect warranty situation…get one, got a dead pixel, send it back…get another maybe same in a factory second, even if they accept returns on PD at all…all at the buyer's expense! Buy new, Hisense will keep sending you new ones at their expense til they get it right, I confirmed ZPD warranty with them before I grabbed a 42" one for a relo…I know which I'd rather! :p

To save roughly 33% for such a risk, definitely not worth it IMHO!!!

  • +3

$589 for extra 2 years warranty plus in-home warranty plus BRAND NEW is worth the money, not to mention that it will not be an extra $589 because JB will definitely do it a bit less if you negotiate.

  • +3

I think $599 would be a fair price.

    • arguably that would be extremely cheap then

This is actually reasonable if you are desperate for a big screen LED.
My only gripe (and it is a big one) is that Contrast is only 1300:1.

    http://www.comparison.com.au/televisions/Hisense/HLS119T18PZ…

I am borderline as I cannot find a comparable LED TV for the same price or lower.

    Closest match -

2nds World Online has an LCD for $799, but it's no LED :(

    Hisense?
    What is the argument here

  • On the http://www.comparison.com.au/televisions/Hisense/HLS119T18PZ… website, it lists the TVs Energy Consumption as 550 kWh/yr. Is this rated as 24 hours x 365 usage, or is there an 'average usage' figure that is used? I'm currently paying $0.17 per kWh, so $93.50 for 24/7 usage per year seems great.

    • "•The comparative energy consumption (usually kilowatt hours/year) provides an estimate of the annual energy consumption of the appliance based on the tested energy consumption and information about the typical use of the appliance in the home."

      from http://www.energyrating.gov.au/con3.html

      Max power usage is 180w on the link you provided. 180 x 24 x 365 / 1000 * 0.17 = $268 for 24 hour use at max power draw.

      • +1

Last i checked for TVs the energy rating is based on 10 hours use per day, with factory out of the box settings

Going up to 50" looks like a good deal with the recently posted
    50" LG 1080p plasma + free 22" LCD for $995.
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/36632

    • I agree… also has full warranty
If you had the price at just under half to buy it new I'm sure people would take the risk
But as it stands, this is not a 'bargain', its more so a "make sure you check the warranty" lesson waiting to be learned

  • +2

Warranty is REALLY important with these things. They are all literally time bombs! I was a reasonably early adopter of a 26" Sansui LCD from Kmart and that blew a power supply after 14 months. Nothing I could do, 12 mth warranty and a $600 fix by the official agent.

And that repair would not be warranted! The replacement power supply was the same part as originally fitted (not an upgrade) and the repairer said that they all blow that way. I'd already paid $75 just to get it inspected… so I left the thing there. They probably repaired it and sold it as "refurbished" LOL

In my opinion… any flatscreen TV plus 1 year warranty = fail.

  • +1

    A factory 2nd of a 2nd tier brand?

You would need to double the warranty, not halve it.

    • +2

Actually, Hisense & TCL are first tier in China, very well known and respected brands…two of the few that manufacture their own stuff, not outsource!

Just because they're not well known here doesn't make them second tier, just unknown…big difference! Remember, Samsung, BenQ, Hyundai etc were unknowns here until not so long ago…some time before that even the big Japanese names revered in TV now were scoffed at in favour of American brands, my how times have changed! ;)

      • -2

Hisense is a crabby brand, they jump into the market selling their TVs at a premium price and thinks it up there with Samsung, Panasonic and Sony.

        • "Crabby"? As in made by crustaceans???

Ah, that would account for the poor placement of buttons on the remote…yes, clearly designed for claws, not hands! :p
