  • Thanks OP!

  • Thanks Render.
Anyone know if this will "backdate" if I already have flights booked in the nominated period, or only for new bookings?

    • +1

      no it will not

      • Booooo. I'm in the same basket as Ugly. Have some flights already booked. Shame I can't get the points.

    • +2

      Not saving. Gaining

      Gaining to save.

I’ll gain an extra 40k points from the flight I will now book which will net me $600 in savings from the flight I will redeem those extra points on that I want later this year that I was going to buy outright, now can buy with these bonus points which will cost me zilch

      Also great to J upgrades

        Gaining to save.

Not if it costs your more money.

What exactly is the bargain here if you're not going to save any money?

        • If these are flights that you were going to take regardless of the deal, it's a saving.

If you're taking the flights only to gain the extra points, and no other reason, then it's not a saving.

          @swanny246:

If these are flights that you were going to take regardless

Other airlines could be cheaper. Nothing posted here shows me I’ll save money.

Looks like it doesn't work on codes share either

    • Codeshare services marketed or operated by partner airlines other than Virgin Australia are not eligible for this offer.

  • -2

Maybe this could be an easy way for me to get to gold status

    • I believe it's for points only, not status credits.

    • Hmm you might be getting this confused with status credits

  • This offer will work well for LAX flights, especially PE or Business.

60k points if your a red flying PE MEL/SYD/BNE-LAX. Even more if your a on a higher tier.

  • Too bad I booked a flight yesterday…

  • So sad, booked yesterday :(

  • Would the free Virgin flight from the Anz Travel Adventures credit card that you can attach your FF number to accrue these Triple flight points?

Or does it depend what fare bucket it books into?

    • You dont get any points on these flights.

      • +2

heh, believe it or not, I actually got points from these free flights ;)

        • Thanks. Thought I'd read that somewhere.

        • +1

me too. and status credits. though I didn't get either on my AMEX free flight.

        • @Spizz: You read it right, but VA system is pretty crap, a lot of people reported to receive points and status credits for free flights that come with credit card

      • +2

I got both points and status credit on ANZ Travel Adventures flights back in December.

        • Also got status credits and points for a flight in January

    • Thoughts flights don't earn points unfortunately.

Cashrewards have double cash back on Virgin currently.

Correct me if I am wrong but is it double the below rates? So essentially 4% for International? I’m not sure if the quoted rates are standard or double.

Cashback on Domestic Flights: 1.40 %

Cashback on International Flights excl. NZ: 2.00 %

    • +3

god dammit, just bought a ticket and forgot to add cashrewards. Handing in my Ozbargain membership fml

      • +1

Just reported you to the mods.

    • Cashback on Domestic Flights: 2.50 %

Cashback on International Flights excl. NZ: 3.00 %

      • 2% on international, just booked via cash rewards

      • Why'd I get negged, I took this right off

        https://www.cashrewards.com.au/virgin-australia-flights

        • Why'd I get negged,

Some people around here don't like people posting facts, they are like sheep and blindly follow the herd, upvoting any deal post without thinking it though…

    • Ok here is the answer from TA.

Hi Gearup. We moved to better than triple for Domestic, and triple cashback for International just after noon today. This is only for a few days I believe.

Our normal rates are 0.7% domestic and 1.0% International. We were at double (1.4% & 2.0%). Now 2.5% & 3.0% (better than triple). Hope that makes sense :)

  • Does anyone know. I booked late Sunday (Elevate). I can apparently change my flight online for no fee. Does this count as a new booking and so qualify for the points???

  • Am I correct that I could book a VA flight with travel agent and still be eligible for this offer?

    • Don't see anything in the terms that says it wouldn't.

      Only..

"Flights can be booked via Virgin Australia website"

CAN. not must. I've booked something on byojet so I sure hope so!

    • Let me guess, you want to book your VA flights through Flight Centre using Youi vouchers purchased at 15% discount?
