  The embedded thermometer on most bbqs are crap.

    great for standard roasts too… domestic ovens swing up and down, knowing the inner temperature of the meat is the only way to be certain about the doneness

  Not a bad price. If you're in the market, also consider the Inkbird IBT-2X. Bluetooth to your phone, and about the same price. Very accurate.

    yep, they're the best.
    Especially the 2 thermometer version as you can monitor two different things, or two different parts of say a leg of lamb/pork

  Any recommendations for a thermometer for weber q type? Having the cord means when I close the hood, the hot lid touches the cable and gets ruined.

    Surely the cable is made to withstand the heat of a BBQ? And the sides of a Weber Q have openenings you can run it through, right?

      Yes, the Q has a raised casting on the left and right of the lid! Not sure why you'd run it out the front of the lid….

        I tried one of the two sides and the thermometer hasn't worked since. It was an Aldi one, so not sure if it was just coincidence that it failed - or whether it was due to the cable contacting the lid on the side.
