  • Does anyone know if this can be mounted on the wall?

    • Base is quite heavy, I won't do that.

    • It doesn't have any mounting points.

      • But I have a drill…

        …courtesy of ozbargain, of course

  • For anyone without a 28 Degrees card the Gearbest exchange rate is actually pretty good, they have it at $55.02 in AUD. Mastercard rate pegs it as $54.62 and Visa at $54.64 if you have a zero fee card.

Yes, it's 40c which is getting up around "pack of mi goreng" levels but it's not bad.

Also, OP, need to include that it's not free shipping.

    • Shipping is another 60 cents I think.

  • So this is basically a code for free shipping?

  • If you're not too fussed about the middle light this might be a better option: https://www.gearbest.com/table-lamps/pp_715451.html?wid=21.
The middle light would be useful but for an extra $20 you have to decide whether it is worth it

    • This is not a smart one, so cant remotely turn on and off. So for most $20 for home assistant/phone control is worth it

      • I see a lot of people on here talking about smart home stuff… are we really that lazy? Like what's the actual benefit other than not having to go the two steps to the lamp?

How much of a hurry is everyone in all the time? Is it worth spending $20 extra to have a lamp that you don't have to physically turn on?

Has everyone who is connecting every item in their home considered the potential downsides of having all their furniture online and potentially hackable or something?

Sorry for taking the rant out on you in particular asa79, but sometimes I see humans getting carried away with stuff because we could, without stopping to think whether we should.

        • +1

lazy? that a bit harsh. When you leave the room the motion sensor can turn off the lamp if you accidentally forgot to turn it off, or turn it on when you enter the room. Just convenience factor, especially if it in your kids room, you might schedule it to turn on and off at given times for them to study or as a night light

        • +1

A bit paranoid about hacking, its not like the movies, they not going to set your house on fire by hacking into a light, or hear your secrets.

There is only benefits over the paranoid hacking part. Like making sure all your items are turned off like iron/hair straighter things that could more likely burn down your house. Schedule lights, get notifications of smoke, motion in the house, better security then not having any

        • @asa79: I mean… all of those things can easily be done manually… I tend to flick the light switch when I enter the room. Or if I forgot to turn the lamp off, I get up and turn it off.

If I had kids I feel that having a light turn on automatically for them to study would be the opposite of encouraging and nurturing, but that's just me.

        • @jrowls: Guess you don't have kids if you reckon the light will get switched off when they leave a room, you are in for a shock one day lol

@asa79: What happened to parenting them though? Or get up and turn the light off yourself if they don't? Again, laziness.

        • @jrowls: Are you saying that anyone whos kid leaves the light on is a lazy parent or bad parent?

        • @asa79: No, I'm saying that you're a lazy or bad parent if you can't deal with them leaving the light on through telling them to turn it off, or getting up and doing it yourself.

    This was $30USD in December

  • I have this. I quite like the brightness. But I can't connect it to Mi Home on my router. The only way to connect it wirelessly is if I tether my mobile internet and use the access point.

If you don't connect it wirelessly and decide to just use the buttons on the unit, the blue LED flashes non-stop even when it's turned off.

  • How is this vs this?
