Decent machine and decent coffee capsules.
Got the limited edition mini Cooper machine for free from a promo a year or two ago.

    • +1

Are there little BMW badges inside the machine?

      • +5
      • Nah but there was a mini logo and mini lettering on it. It was a custom colour scheme so actually looked very cool

    • What's the usual price per capsule?

      • $0.53 ($8.49 pack of 16) regular price

Sometimes go 2 for $15 ($7.50ea) at supermarkets or grab them off eBay with specials and codes. Eg Dolce Gusto eBay do 10 packs for $79.90 and can add a 5% off code on top of that, or 10% if one comes up. Also subscription on website for 15% off ($7.21ea).

    Dulce Gusto pods, FYI.

    Pass

    • how bout the rest of the nespresso machine? don’t they use dulce gutso pods as well? or different ?

      • different

        • Dulce Gusto is the “Kirks” of Nespresso, they brought it out to compete with cheap supermarket pods.

        • @LoopyLou: By Kirks, I bet you mean Kirks ginger ale.

        • +1

          @pufffdragon:

Actually I'm kind of sad they shoved all the regional brands under Kirks, only a matter of time until they kill them off in favour of generic national crap.

    • +1

Agreed. Got one of these cheap 2 years back but limited to Dulce Gusto pods so don't use it anymore.

  • Would have been good to get these things for free just to try like I dont drink coffee but maybe worth it for the winter hot chocolate? Is that even a thing?

    • +1

Definitely not worth it. Just make it yourself.

      • Thanks

        • +6

Tablespoon + mug, microwave the soymilk, stir = done.

        • @thevofa:

Tablespoon + mug, microwave the soymilk, stir = done.

Errr… hot soymilk? That is absolutely grossly disgusting!

It started off as hot chocolate, and it's degraded badly LOL

        • +3

          @llama:

Cocoa beans are more similar to soy beans than the mammary secretions of a nonhuman species.

        • -2

@thevofa: That may be the case, however the mammary secretions of animals is SPECIFICALLY INTENDED to be drunk.

        • +2

@llama: By the baby of the lactating mother.

Why don't you go and drink your own mother's milk if you're so hard pressed on it?

        • @thevofa: LOL, I'll skip on that one. I'd rather coffee black or cereal dry than to pour that gritty and foul tasting Soy stuff. I am guessing that you drink alcohol-free beer or wine?

        • @llama:

Soy, schmoy, whatever. Like it or don't, I'm not the ambassador for soy, but…

You find your own mother's milk undesirable yet have no issue drinking the milk of another mother - and she's from a different species no less.

Please think about that for a minute.

    • +2

      Aldi one is pretty good
Has a pretty decent range too and not a rip off for the pods.

    • What the hell would you want a COFFEE machine to make hot chocolate?

  • $12 for a toy coffee machine from Kmart. You pay $24 for a real one.

    • Not suitable for kids under the age of 16 years. :)

  • +3

Is this a case of cheap printer and expensive cartridge type of a deal?

    • +1

These are like the "Beta" of coffee machines.

    • +3

A little. Not really, more so that pods are compromised enough to begin with and these are the cheap alternative.

Sorry for the offended and general downvoters.

  • -1

Does it comes with the pods?

    • No pods included. However you should get $10 credit with the machine to spend on pods, claim here. They used to give a sample pack as well with a machine pack but not sure if that is the case anymore, can't see it online anymore to redeem.

    • It should come with 6 different pods in the box for taste testing.

  • Is this the automatic one where we can set to a certain marker matching the pods?

    • Yes. Does hot and cold coffee too

    • +1

Actually I believe this Piccolini is a manual machine.

You can put the lever left for cold or right for hot, but it doesn't have an automatic fill level (matching the pods), so you have to guess or stop when it's at the level you want manually. That also means you can't just press the button and know it will switch itself off once you hit the desired level. Most of the other machines are automatic, probably a better choice if you are using this reguarly but you can always give this manual machine a go and upgrade to an automatic one if you like the Dolce Gusto system.

  • Great price.

    • -1

      but at what price

      • -1

        $23.90 delivered?

  • $8.50 for a pack of pods from woolies, coles etc., make 16 cafe au lait (aka normal milk coffee) or 8 pack for cappuccino/latte etc.
Website has subscription pffers as well at 15% discount and free delivery.

  • +3

Buy this stainless steel pod (or plastic) and use your own coffee. Never again will you have to buy pods, bit pricey but worth it.

    Unlimited use: https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32641126470.html?trace=wwwdeta…

    100+ times use plastic: https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32830929484.html?trace=wwwdeta…

    • Any of those stainless steel things for nespresso machines?

      • Yes, go on aliexpress or eBay and search your machine name + reusable stainless pod

  • Keeps showing up as $39.00 at checkout. why?

    • Try change postage to Priority. Showing up as $21.59 for me

  • $37.90 delivered if you buy 2.

    • +2

actually comes up $31.20 if you select the free shipping options after changing Qty to 2

    • Thanks. I did try that at that time it remained the same. must have been some glitch then….

  • Terrific price on the machine, but horrid, horrid coffee. Makes OK hot chocolate and ice tea etc, but why would you pay $8 for a dozen hot chocolate pods when you can buy a tin of powder for a couple of bucks. And did I mention that the coffee tastes horrid?

    • Is the fault of the pods?

      • No doubt, but since nobody else makes Dolce Gusto compatible pods, you're stuck with horrid tasting coffee.

  • +2

Got two at $31.20, don't know how.
    Thanks OP anyway!

  • -6

I'm sure its a fantastic coffee making product but pods can't be recycled.

    • +4

      It is still a bargain.

      • I never said it wasn't a bargain in monetary terms. I think I should be allowed to dispute what I consider a bargain when considering other values tied to the bargain. With that logic I could post anything on this website as long as it is a significant saving. I'm not saying don't buy it, you have the right to buy it or not. I simply stated a fact in above comment and believe it is enough to be a negative as opposed to a positive when buying such a product.

        • +1

We come here for bargains. OP posted a bargain and you negged the bargain.

With that logic I could post anything on this website as long as it is a significant saving.

Yes, we all can, within OzBargain guidelines. That's what OP did.

        • @PJC: I come here for bargains too, unless my negative comment goes against community guidelines?

      • +1

I was just informing for people who might care for such a fact, even if it is just one person. However considering my comment has more than 9 down votes the comment is now hidden, just because the majority didn't agree with a fact that might help them decide whether a bargain is worth it or not - surely that's part of the consumer process (is something worth buying based on facts).

        • I was just informing for people who might care for such a fact, even if it is just one person.

You were not just informing. You negged this bargain.

        • @PJC: Yes I was informing and the neg was part of my opinion. My negging of the bargain has nothing to do with someone else's choice whether or not to buy the product.

        • +1

@bailbondsh: Therefore you were not just informing. You voted against this bargain.

        • @PJC: ok you were technically right. Is that all you wanted to be, right? Rather than respond to anything else I had to say? Sounds like you're quite a closed minded person when that is the only comment you're willing to make.

        • +1

@PJC: Another member told me how I am able to recycle the pods and actually make money for charity. I think that's pretty good. Perhaps next time I will think twice about negging a deal if I don't have my facts straight, however it was pretty common knowledge to people who care about recycling that pods for a long time weren't good for the environment.

        • I'm one person who cares for this fact, bailbondsh. Thank you for bringing it to peoples' attention. OzB has an inbuilt 'learning' bonus angle to it. I've learned heaps here. Mostly about tech.
I'm happy that you choose to be an educator in this instance. While I did know that about pods and dislike & prefer not to use anything that is single use plastic/alum etc if I can help it.. I've now learned that there may be other ways of disposing of them (when I get around to reading Hamza's post) so they don't end up in the belly of a whale.
I like it when people stand up and state what's important as you did.
          Thank you. 😊

    • +3

I use Terracycle to recycle my Dolce Gusto pods, if you are interested. You also get $0.02 per pod which can be used to donate towards a charity or school of your choice which is pretty cool.

      • +1

Thanks, something constructive. We might annoy. But we'll always be here. Thank you hamza23

      • +1

So happy to hear about this!

  • ok got one. Always wanted one of those pod machines. Mine came to 21.5

  • Hi guys, just a quick question: What makes a pod for say an ALDI machine not compatible with a Nespresso machine (or something else), is it the shape of the pod? Thanks in advance…

  • I use it instead of a kettle for hot water
