1+ for the effort and listing the deals OP.

    • +13

It's copied and pasted from vooks article with the list.

      • Whoops, my bad.

      • +5

Still some effort to share with us.

  • +2

There's some decent deals here, but unfortunately I already own most of the ones that interest me.

Still though, made for good reading while having the morning dump, +1

  • +1

Can now use your gold coins on Switch, but don't forget to have your My Nintendo account linked even if purchasing 3DS/Wii U games as you can still collect points.

  • +1

Finally Wonderboy is on sale. Thanks OP.

    • Hm. Yes. But should I get the collectors edition from OGS for ~42 after discount then flip it on ebay, or buy it digitally, knowing it lasts for only one afternoon?

      • +1

The game only lasts for one afternoon?

        • Yeah, from metacritic summaries:
          http://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/wonder-boy-the-dragons…

Multiplayer.it: "However, as fun and well made it is, we are talking about a Master System game you can clear in a couple hours or so: it's somewhat overpriced at the moment"

NintendoLife: "Its biggest failing is the fact that like the Master System original, it can be completed in the space of an evening."

Gamer.no: "there are few reasons to replay the game once the short adventure is over."

        • @justtoreply:

I own it, defintely taking me longer than an afternoon. (playing sporadically over the last few months) I mean if you've played it before on the SMS then sure, but otherwise…

        • @justtoreply: I've finished it many times since owning it on master system back in the day, so could easily beat it in a few hours. A friend's currently playing who's never played it before, it's certainly taking him more than a couple of hours.

        • @CountDuckula:

I remember playing it when I was 4 years old. I had a "dumpster save" Atari (Pong, Plate Spinner).

Not sure if it was on that system, I think we may have later saved a Sega, but my memory is a little fuzzzy on the details.

Though I'm surprised that it wasn't just me who knew that Wonder-Boy game, and glad it's getting remastered/ported.

        • @Kangal: I've already finished it on PC (it got a GOG.com release which I was thankful for), but have pre-ordered the EU physical release for switch.
It's a brilliant remaster of a wonderful game. The developer of the remaster clearly loves the original. :)

To my knowledge the original was only on the Sega MasterSystem/GameGear and PC engine back in the day.

  • -1

    Such effort.

Can anyone recommend a turn-based RPG from the 3ds lot?

    • Nope, not really any turn based ones there worth playing

    • Can't see anything.

  • +10

    Still way too high imo.

    • I've seen some of those games sold as physical copies, shipped from the UK, for lower prices. A few significantly less.

Unless you REALLY hate swapping game carts or the game has no physical release, it's best to avoid eshop IMO.
High prices, no refund policy at all, nintendo can cut off your ability to re-download games at their whim, no lending or resale.

  • No Kirby, Mario or Zelda discounts????

    • +1

They're evergreen 1st party nintendo games, probably best to look for a physical copy on sale.
Scumtree's served me pretty well for switch games.

  • Fe, Owlboy and Axiom Verge for me! I've been waiting.

  • Doom! Any good on the switch? Worth getting eShop over physical?

    • +4

Asking for opinion on that will get you some mixed responses.

I personally don't own it but have done plenty of research on the game through articles, videos, analysis', etc.

      Pros:
      -Mostly stable 30fps
      -Portable Doom
-Same full game experience as other versions minus map editor

      Cons
      - can drop to around 600p in more intense scenes
      - Not 60fps like other consoles
      - frames and resolution can dip more ofter on the harder difficulty settings due to more enemies on screen

      That about covers it.

If you're not a frame rate or resolution elitist, you may find you very much enjoy the game like a lot of people have.

      • +2

I'm not sure calling somebody an elitist is fair. In my opinion you're better off buying it on other consoles as it's A) Cheaper by far and B) Runs far better. That said, if you don't own either of the other consoles or a PC and you want it mobile then it's supposed to be a very serviceable port. There are better games to pick up on switch though imo.

      • Thanks for the info and effort. Appreciate it.

      • +2

Doom feels a lot worse without the mouse control. Just not snappy or fast enough with a controller. Note I'm someone who plays with a controller whenever possible.

    • I played Doom back when it first came out on PC and fell in love with it there, and recently picked up a used copy for the Switch. If you can deal with a 30fps (which feels really smooth thanks to the excellent implementation of motion blur, a feature I usually hate) version of a fast-paced shooter, there's nothing wrong here. However, it's important to note that, if your hands ever cramp while playing on the Switch in handheld mode, the action-packed nature of this game will definitely exacerbate that. Personally, while I find myself dying more often thanks to the imprecise controls (I still don't understand how Nintendo got away with such cheap joysticks on the Joy-Cons), the game is still a blast to play.

This is all from an exclusively portable perspective - as a TV-mode game, it's probably not worth your time when you can pick up versions for other systems for less than $20. The Switch version, while impressive, is definitely nerfed in the visual and performance department.

      • which feels really smooth

How can it feel really smooth when people are complaining about frame pacing though?

        • I haven't noticed any frame pacing issues, but maybe I'm just oblivious.

    • +1

Call this a sale. Doom on sale on PS4 $13.95 and it's better, and even worse the usual price is $40.
I cannot understand how there is such a price gap.
I'm actually getting kind of sick of Nintendo Switch. Where are the games? And stop selling games that everyone already has.

      • The pricing complaint I agree with. Games are holding their price much too strongly on Switch and retailers are pricing Switch versions of Games, even the ones released same day as other consoles (FIFA, Lego Marvel, LA Noire, etc.) consistently slightly higher than their competitors' couterparts.

When Skyrim remastered dropped on Ps4 and XB1 the price was down to around $40 or $50 within a few months of release for a physical. Switch version is still $70-$80 which is ridiculous.

As for the lack of games, Nintendo (wii u) and third parties are equally to blame. 3rd parties assumed it would be another flop and didn't bother developing for the system right away as a result, hence we're getting ports or first party games almost exclusively. Games take time to develop so hopefully there will be a huge influx of games following e3 and into 2019

        • +1

I agree. Why are the switch versions more expensive than other platforms. I have all three current generation consoles, so I have already played Skyrim, doom, LA noire (on PS3 mind you) Rayman (PS Vita) etc.
I would maybe get Skyrim again on switch just so I could play it at work but not when I already have played it twice, and they want me to fork out double what I paid for it on Xbox One.
Everyone is probably going to hate but Zelda is crap. 10/10 bah.

SteamWorld Dig 2 – $22.49, normally $29.99 Worth every cent

    • Jumping on this for sure !!! After finishing shovel knight, need another platformer before Hollow Knight arrives (if it ever arrives, that is!)

    • Is steamworld 1 on Switch just a 3DS port? Which game is better?

      • +1

yeah 1 really shows it's low res heritage. Steamworld 2 is basically a different game, it's metroid-vania style, and damn awesome.

    • Yeah, I've been looking forward to this one. I played the hell out of the first one on the PS Vita, so it was well suited to handheld gaming.

  • +4

Would be nice if we could access the AU eShop on a PC nowhere near my Switch right now..

  • +2

Wonderboy… I might buy that at 9 bucks half price and relive the good ol days

    • Isn't it $13?

      • Why yes it is. Must have been also looking at another game

  • -1

The screen shots don't show the rear. If they've managed to include the cartridge slot I could still fire up my copy of Wizard of Wor. I'd nearly pay $150 for that.

    • Oops, must have commented on the wrong deal. Was meant for theC64 mini "deal" at some point today.

  • Indie games are double the price as Steam, and that's when they aren't on a Steam sale…

    • +1

Steam is in USD. This is not.
Some are more expensive on top of that (like Cave Story), but most are pretty close.

  • Only got Rocket League from last deal, the prices are still high for Switch games. I wish physical copies can be had the same if not less price. Don't see any deals for physical copies at all. Maybe wait to Xmas?

    • +2

Agree prices are too high. WAY too high.

Physical copies are a heck of a lot cheaper than digital though, on average. Take a look at bomberman for example.. at 50% off the digital, it's still only $10 less than retail.

TBH I'm playing the games and then flipping them on ebay. It costs about $10 to buy new then sell (on $1.10 fee Sunday promotion only). I'm giving up on collecting games - I don't go back to them, and I have no space to store them.

  • +1

Wow, Nintendo actually having a reasonably ok sale for once.

    • It's funny how Nintendo can pull an Apple and refuse discounts for long enough that people accept it and start calling this an "ok sale"

Pricing can be really bad compared to other systems. I love my Switch, but I hope Nintendo get over themselves.

      • +2

its been the same way since the Wii U and the 3DS.

        Nintendo are terrible for sales.

Enjoy the system and buy the essentials on the system and buy everything else on Steam or PS4.

    no, but seriously, great deal

edit replied to wrong post, please delete.

  • Nooooooooo! No Tetris!

  • Heads up… it looks like the NSwitch is getting Overwatch and Fortnite.

Two Light Games (aka eSports) that are just light enough to be enjoyed on the aenemic/anorexic hardware of the Switch. But should be fun multiplayer nevertheless.

  • Cheap Steamworld Dig 2 on 3ds? Awesome!

  • +3

Stole this off some guy on reddit, hopefully makes your decisions easier

Can someone explain to me why I did not get discount on Resident evil Revelations 1 after i purchased Resident Evil Revelations 2 ? because according to Eshop, it says "Purchase Resident Evil Revelations 2 on Nintendo eShop to receive a discount on Resident Evil Revelations".

  • Do you guys actually prefer soft copy or hard copy of the game ? I'm just wondering if I should start investing on an SD card for my Switch.

    • +1

Digital is more convenient (no swapping carts, and games are tied to your account so can be recovered if lost), but is tied to your account and requires more microsd storage space.

Physical is not tied to your account (can be shared between multiple Switches in a household, lent to friends, or swapped/sold if no longer wanted), but is less convenient and requires more physical storage space.

Neither is better, just depends which advantages/disadvantages are more important to you.

I'm going all physical, as much as possible, largely just to be able to lend games to other people.

  • Picked up the 3 River City Ransom games on 3DS. "Digital release" only for EU. >:-|
