  • +1 for elegant gold trim

  • Hard to collect this tv.

  • Hisense ULED TVs utilise LCD screens with LED Backlighting”, in other words, like every other LCD TV..
Like Samsung’s top models, blue LEDs are covered with Quantum Dots instead of yellow paint.

    • Some of them are edge lit aren’t they?

  • Is the 75” panel good like the popular 65”n7?

EDIT: whoops just realised this is the N5

  • It's fald instead of edge lit.. Has lowerb number of zones but still better then edge lit

    • A good edge lit is better than a bad fald just saying.

      • U think that even applies here?

        • +1

I'm just stating this fact, because there seems to be a lot of "hype" around fald and people tend to forget that a good panel with good processing can always produce a better picture as it is not always about technology. And at the end of the day you should go and have a look at the TVs and compare them to see what looks better for you.
When I went to a store and compared a whole bunch of models (with the same clip which i took on a USB stick) for me both TCL and Hisense had extremely poor output! Although i was really convinced that these two are the best brands to get on a tight budget, based on online reviews and rave on forums…
This is the clip i used:
          https://youtu.be/tO01J-M3g0U
Since it has a wide range of scenes with a variety of colours and different contrast levels.
For example all the TCLs TVs i was able to try tend to overblown the red and make the image look extremely unpleasant, to make matters worst they had horrible horrible interface to adjust the picture quality and once i finally managed to reduce the red it still looked really bad. The only TCL which managed to display that clip reasonably was the entry level e17 series (coincidentally without HDR so i am lead to believe they haven't got their HDR sorted out) i was not able to test the X2 as no one had stock but wasn't willing to risk it based on the few i tried in store.
For reference the entry level mu6100 from Samsung although gets a fair bit of negative comments online looked much better from the TCLs. Of course the issue with the mu6100 is the take hdr which doesn't do anything but still managed to show a better image.

And as for Hisense, my general issue with them was being aggressive with increasing the brightness (not backlight but picture brightness) and this causes clipping in many scenarios in that clip. Lastly the N7 series ALL had heat issues!! It is really bad, you don't believe go to a store and touch the bottom right corner of the frame it is HOT to the touch, this is not an issue on N6 or N5 series … What was good about the Hisense was very quick boot (under 10 seconds or so).

And finally the IPS vs VA panel debate, yes VA is superior in colour reproduction and blacks, BUT keep in mind it is only better so at very narrow angles, go and see it for your self in a store. So if you're forced to look at your tv from and angel you pretty much have no choice but to get IPS, sure it doesn't produce as good image as VA but trust me it is much much better from angels…

So i guess my point is don't base your opinion purely on reviews and hype etc… Go and see the panels in store and decide what you like better and what suits your room better in terms of viewing angel. And keep in mind some brands change panel type in the same series for different sizes so check panel type for the series and size that you're getting!

  • n5 joke - more expensive than an a n7?

  • No HDR. It would be nice if some posters added a Yes HDR or No HDR tag in the product tag section. Save a lot of people a lot of time.
