  • So one night on either the way to or way from destination? Not both?

    • on your way to/from your destination

If it had been that generous, they would have said "and", and publicised it.

  • Free 1-Night stay in Dubai

Just be careful not to drink a beer in the street… That may 'extend' your free stay there…

Just be careful not to drink a beer in the street… That may 'extend' your free stay there…

I feel like people who go to Dubai aren't the type of scum who drink on the street. Even in Australia, people who do this are considered pretty bogan/trashy or they're just homeless.

      • I feel like people who go to Dubai aren't the type of scum who drink on the street

Careful you don't give your wife/girfriend a kiss in the street either…

Careful you don't give your wife/girfriend a kiss in the street either…

          Yeah, I'm (profanity)

        • Great, I’m not really one that enjoys watching people kiss in public

    • +3

Why would you drink a beer in the street anywhere? Public consumption of alcohol is illegal in most countries.

      • Public consumption of alcohol is illegal in most countries.

        rubbish…

I had one today on a picnic.

        • Where was this? It depends on the city council, but in most parts of Melbourne (the CBD is one example), public consumption is prohibited.

        • @MrZ:

          Where was this?

BBQ on the banks of the yarra

        • @jv:

Seems you're okay then. "Responsible consumption of BYO alcohol is permitted in the City of Melbourne’s public parks and gardens by individuals or groups of 50 people or less."

      • Random fact: Not Japan

If I wanted to visit a soulless city in the middle of the desert full of high rises, I'd rather go to Vegas. At least you can gamble there, see shows, and eat cheap food. Dubai sounds boring - like Vegas, but without any of the fun stuff.

    • I absolutely hated it. Never again. 3 nights was 3 too many.
They treat their workers like crap but the service industry wouldn't run without them.

Even the airport is crap. Never have I had to line up for a male toilet, except Dubai airport.

      • You lined up for a toilet in an airport that has hundreds of toilets?

        • Tried multiple, each one had a queue.
Then went to the mahhaba lounge to get away, even that was packed. One denied entry as too full

I Goto Europe sometimes twice a year. Will always pick going via Singapore, never get tired of Singapore

      • Really?? I had to line up to use the toilet at LAX. This was in the lounge, though, not the general public toilet (which makes it even less acceptable).

    • Fun stuff? If you hold gambling over culture as fun stuff than that’s sad

  • Best part of Dubai is the driverless city trains, next departing the place!. Doha is a more interesting place, I M Pei the American architect designed the museum of Islamic Art a sensional place to visit.

Again with Dubai, just avoid the place during Ramadan, made that error once … never again!, the place is in a sort of lockdown for Westerner's for around a month!.

Best part of Dubai is the driverless city trains

Do they kill people like the Uber driverless cars?

    • What? I was there in Ramadan, nothing wrong with it

      • I was there in Ramadan and I disagree. The food and entertainment restrictions certainly impacted on the stay. Apart from the Souks and the 4 wheel drive through the desert it was fairly uninteresting. There are certainly better options for a cultural experience in the Middle East.

Neg. 1600 Perth Dublin 1 way.

    Return trip 1300. Wtf

    • That's pretty much how all airlines price, what's the problem?

      • The problem is this is not a bargain, maybe put "return trips only".

Besides Singapore airlines, who I rate higher have sub $1k return Aust to London

  • Dubai and Abu Dhabi are great cities if you know what you are looking for. You can still have a drink at the hotel. I’d prefer to go to Dubai and not drink than Bali filled with Aussie trash yelling at their kids

  • Congratulations Qantas for dumping this hell hole. You wouldn't get me there again in a box, free night? HUH!!
