If not in a hurry, fold the boxes up and get rid of them in the paper recycling bins a week's worth at a time.

    • Yeah, thought about that too. but i reckon that is around 5 bin's full; which means 10 weeks.

If i could pay someone a reasonable amount of money to get rid of it all in one go, I'd rather do that - no need to cut, and fold etc.

      • Do you have any neighbours willing to dispose of a bin load each for you?

And by willing, you mean puts their recycle bin out the night before collection, because then it's a free for all.

      • Wait for the truck to pull up and ask the driver if you can load up extra. I've done this before with large amounts of cardboard.

your local recycling center, just fill your car with them and dump them at the recycle center, free of charge.

    • oh, they're free? Always thought they charged. ok, i'll check that out too then.

      • I don't know if they charge for large quantities, but looking at your pic it's not that much so should be fine, even those styroform can be disposed at the station.

        • cheers man.

        • Nah, they should be right or if not just shop around and go to one and then another, but normally AFAIK unless you’re talking about maybe a dumpster load (dumptruck) then should be right.

It’s a fair enough question though, considering we get charged through the nose to dump most stuff it makes sense to think that we’d get charged to dump paper.

    • Yeah the local tip on Burwood Highyway (Bottom of the hill down near the new hospital) will take the cardboard for Free :)

Make a bonfire and toast some marshmellows. Mhmmm, gelatinous goo….

    Make a fort.

  • My local "transfer station" aka rubbish tip takes recyclable card board at no charge.

  • Facebook market place "free moving boxes". People always want them and will collect.

Use a hose. They'll melt into a tiny soggy pile.

    • Mushrooms.

Our council accepts recyclables at no charge and no limit - guess if you tried to dump a truck load it may be different tho.

    Check your council's web site

  • Don't IKEAs take cardboard?

The crazy 100% renewable cellulose (cardboard) recycling con continues.

Wot, no #2PARTYRANT? I am disappoint.

      • I voted for a party that would stop this recycling con. Too bad the Cellulite party, didn't get in.

  • Monash waste transfer station on the Frentreegully Road, Notting Hill definitely accepts cardboard and styrofoam for free. That shouldn’t be very far away from where you are. At the entry barrier gate let the attendant know that it is just cardboard and styrofoam and they will let you in for free.

  • cardboard will compost in soil.

remove a layer of soil from your backyard. put the cardboard uncut in the ditch and cover it. out of sight and out of mind.

  • Waste transfer stations are normally free for recycled cardboard - load up your car and go for it.

  • Open the boxes out flat and cut into squares the size of the bottom of the recycling bin. Surprising how much you can fit in once air is removed from boxes. What you have there will easily fit into the recycle bin.

Advertise for "FREE" on gumtree, packing boxes, they should go pretty quick

  • You can drop thrm off at the Monash Waste Station for free - it's on Ferntree Gully Rd in Mt Waverley.

  • Soak it all with water, turn it into mush and it will fit into your recycle bin.

  • I usually put up with feeding the keen side bin for a while. If you’ve got enough space to store it, why not chop it into manageable pieces and fill your bin on recycling night.

I use a Stanley knife (or funnily enough a box cutter will work) and cut it into near a4 pieces. Doesn’t take long and get fit a fair bit in the bin. Tearing them up works, but takes longer if there is packing tape involved.
