  • The width is EE, so no good for people who don't have wide feet

    • +1

Most of their men’s shoes are either EE or EEE

    • +2

      from the website

      Width

      EE - Standard/regular fit shoe
      EEE - Wide fit shoe

      SO EE is standard width

    • I have duck feet lol.

  • The first and second looks very similar

  • Free shipping over $100 - should that be in the title?

I think everyone has taken the journey from
Julius Marlow -> Florsheim -> RM Williams

    • +4

Any advice for someone struggling to justify the last move on that journey? Florsheim are always on sale and RM Williams hardly ever.

      • Actually I wear the $90 copies from Rivers. Not sure jow long they will last though. Seem well made.

Only if you are channelling your inner cowboy

Rubber soles equate to bottom rung on the Florsheim ladder in my opinion. They are worth about $49.

  • Also in stores?

  • Just out of interest, and knowing pretty much nothing about the market, is it really worth paying the extra for something like a pair of Loakes over Julius Marlow/Florsheim etc?

I've currently got a pair of Rockports that I've worn for about 5 years. I'm tempted to just get another pair but was wondering if there was a better option around.

    • +1

Yes. Mid-range dress shoes are a significant improvement in quality and workmanship over the florsheims etc of this world. (this includes brands like loakes, allen edmonds, meermin mallorca to an extent etc). This does NOT include brands like Aquila etc.

It is up to you whether you want to spend the extra money and effort (for the shoes, and trying to find a place in aus where you can try them on). But I and many others have, and have no regrets about it.

These shoes are fine for $49. I bought a pair less than a year ago and within two weeks the heel started to seperate. I complained to Florsheim who were helpful in providing another pair for free. I ended up wearing the first pair for another month, got the most out of it then I wore the replacement pair for about 3-4months before it started showing some serious wear and tear. Essentially within a year I had gone through two of their shoes. I don't think I'd go back again

Like I said for $49 is about right.

  • Seems like a poor selection compared with what you can typically find in Amazon US.
