12c Discount at Caltex/Safeway Petrol Station

52

Just came back from Caltex petrol station @ South Yarra, Vic and came to know that I received 12c discount per litre which should be 8c as we all know.

Anyways, I cannot find it advertised anywhere else. I don't know expiry of this discount. Use your shop-docket or everyday rewards card if you have one with fuel discount.

Cheers.

MOD Edit - Read the responses before wandering off to your local Caltex. These include
1. This may have been a mistake - unlikely
2. Woolies have had some targeted specials on certain products that automatically gave 12c - and this is automatically applied to the rewards card. Quite Likely
3. Woolies have/had a targeted encouragement for some customers who used their card with some higher spend than normal - also likely

Reality is you can check your active vouchers on the Woolies website and see if you have any 12c vouchers

You prolly spent $5 in store.

    • Nope. See the receipt.

it's due to an instore purchase of a particular promotional product which added an extra 4 cents, sometime in the last month…

      i can't see how this is a bargain…

I'd say your correct jv, without any further evidence either.

User bought X item in store, that also came with a 4c per bonus discount. Didn't realise. Swiped rewards card. Then magically received an extra 4c per litre on top of the 8c.

The odds of Woolworths/Safeway doing a 12c discount WITHOUT any extra marketing are zero, especially with Coles doing the same offer at the moment.

What's with the neg when the receipt clearly shows no in-store purchase?

  • Its a instore promotion, you used your everyday woolworths card - you must off spent $30.00 in a woolies store to get the 4c off - plus bonus 8cents promotion = 12cents

    • you get 8c discount after spending $30 at Woolworths as per the current promotions. Link is correct but you mentioned it wrong in your comment.

EDIT: Just saw your post at http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/36900.

      • plus the original 4 cents you would normally get. 8 cents on top of the 4cents you would usually get. This is what i got anyway as did charlesqi it sounds like.

        • No… That's not how it works. It's instead of. You don't get 4c per litre, you get 8c per litre. I've been using this offer since it started months ago, at Woolworths.

Would be nice if they left it at 8c forever though. =]

        • thats correct it should be done that way….but i have been getting 12 cents, an extra 4 cents…? without caltex purchase. Like the receipt that the first poster posted

  • Well, I'd say that if you have fuel discount docket and you are planning to refill your fuel tank in a day or two then you should go and give it a go. The fuel price is lower on Saturday nowadays.

You are going to get 8c anyway, however, there is nothing wrong in getting an extra 4c on top of it without spending anything.

    Thanks delfredo for your understanding.

No worries. It's funny how expectations are so high nowadays that when someone voluntarily offers to share a good deal that it gets shot down instantaneously without mercy or appreciation and with little deliberation.

  • It's not the +4c in store, but it is a targeted promotion.

    I got one two weeks ago, because I hadn't been for a while and if I spent $50, i got 10c, spend $100 I get 12c, spend $150 i think it was 14c…….

But it's a one off not a bargain.

YOu can always check what your voucher entitlement is by going online to your account. A little better than filling up at each Caltex to see if you get 12c off
