  • I can't put this code into Steam once I buy, right?

    • The code is strictly for purchasing the Uplay game key from Green Man Gaming's online store, which I have linked in the deal.

    • You won't get a key for Steam outside of Steam.

      Don't spread misinformation, they've had one mishap with CDProjekt which both sides were in the wrong. GMG is the authorised seller of the majority of publishers and developers.

      You can see their partners here

      And before you attempt to refute my statement you can see Ubisoft's official list here

        It's not misinformation. GMG is, undoubtedly, shady. It wasn't just with CD Projekt Red either. Several publishers came forward saying that they weren't affiliated with GMG. They've also been caught lying on their partners page, so you can't really trust that.

        You shouldn't have to check a publisher's official vendors list before you purchase a game. Do you check to make sure your physical games aren't bootlegs before you purchase them? You should be able to purchase from a store and know each and every key is coming from an official source, not taken out of a boxed copy like GMG has also been known to do.

        They're a scummy website, with more than enough evidence to support it. Just because they have a few official keys, it doesn't excuse the website as a whole. It would be like if half of the games EB Games sold were bootlegs. By your logic, that's okay because the other half are official. Just Google it a bit and come up with your own conclusion.

          Hey buddy, you have no argument and I already foiled your attempt at one. Just because you read Reddit doesn't mean you're aware of anything. Seeya

          @kaneissik: You didn't foil my argument. It seems you have the reading capabilities of a child. My argument was: GMG is a shady company with bad practices that shouldn't be supported. I suggested to purchase from a more trustworthy source for only a few dollars more. I already mentioned in my OP that some of their keys are, in fact, legitimate, but most are not. How does you proving that one game is legitimate refute my entire argument?

          If you want to support this scumbag of a company, do with your money as you will. Even worse, you can go buy from G2A or CDKeys, for all I care. But I'm going to pay a few dollars more and purchase from a source who've shown to be entirely trustworthy in the past. Have a good day, buddy.

          @dano:

          Because your argument was that their Ubisoft keys weren't legit, yet they're both partners. That's why your argument is foiled. If this company was so dodgy why would they have contracts with every major publisher?

      You do realise that quite clearly this is legit since you must connect your Uplay account to your GMG account to redeem this?

      I pre-ordered the game from them and activated it last night. You don't get a key. You login to GMG and there's a uplay link in your account that activates the game. It then shows up on your game list in uplay.

      I've received some keys in the past from supposedly reputable retailers that seem a bit dodgy. This method by GMG is the most secure I've seen without purchasing directly from the client.

    ~93 AUD for the gold edition

    • +2

      There seems to be little point in getting the gold edition. All the extras you get from the start are cosmetic or unlockable through playing, and there's no release date for the seasons pass content. You can always just buy the DLC when it comes out if it looks worth the money, given that the announced DLC has nothing to do with the main story I will wait.
