  After a reel that will stand the test of time but without costing the earth. Estuary fishing with 6ft2ish rod.
  Had a Okinawa that busted after 12mnths due to the cheap metal in part of the gear catch shearing.

        Hi,

        Have no clue what they have inside, really.
        My bet is always on more expensive reels as manufacturers don't need to find any "cheaper" ways to make a product to be competitive in the marketplace.
        However, that being said- I think they are all fine- everything I've suggested- without problems, but I would probably recommend the DAM Quick NEO 840FD, DAM Quick FZ1 830FD, DAM Quick FZ1 840FD, DAM Quick FZ-300FD and of course for sure the DAM Quick Retro before anything else.

    hi Hatchy, not to discourage purchasing from adore tackle (I have some purchased some rods from here, very happy), but if you want a reel that's built like a tank with quality gearing on the inside (with fairly good water resistance) and priced extremely well, you can't really go past the Daiwa BG series. looking at about 150aud, but that will likely last years and years and years performing incredibly well. Google the Alan hawk review of the Daiwa BG to get some insight into why this reel is so awesome.

  Alan Hawk absolutely rubbishes the 'zinc' gears in the Daiwa BG!

  Daiwa fake advertise it as aluminium.

  The rest though - seems pretty impressive hey!

  Gday,

  I just grabbed a 4.50 steelpower surf rod, some squid jigs and a ~9 footer. Looking around the net the prices look pretty good so I pulled the trigger see how they go. I have no compelling reason to need them but like a true impulsive ozbargainer it just seemed the right thing to do.

  Order number is 569, I thought i'd write it here to let you know that your ozbargain post did get you a sale.

  This brand in my opinion is not popular in Australia but I don't know much about gear I find that for most people the combos from k-mart work just as well as anything. I used a surf combo from k-mart for over a year and it copped a beating, I ended up giving it to my father in law and it's still going now 5 years later. Lately for surf setup I use a finnor lethal reel (highly recommend it) and a wilson live fibre rod (bit expensive but light and awesome in my opinion), interested to see how the 4.5 goes to peg spinners out a long distance into the surf.
