Had a Giggle That OZB Was Mentioned in Some ING T&C's

I received a referral promotion/ incentive email from ING today. In searching for the 'unsubscribe' link, I came across this little gem in the T&C's

"If you use this offer in a manner that is not satisfactory to us or in line with the intent of the offer (such as sharing your referral code on the 'OzBargain' website or other similar websites, or advertising or marketing your referral code), we may refuse to pay the cash bonus (including in respect of any or all referrals made in relation to the offer). This includes conduct on your part which is designed to undermine the fair and intended operation of the offer. "

Gold :-D

    old news
ozb been mentioned in mass media several times

    1. when a reporter did an overview, plus a story on a member who's got a roomful of bargains from here
    2. when Gerry Harvey threw a fit after a price error in 2012

Yeh, but for a company to actually mention us in their T&Cs is next level.

ING terms and conditions have always been my preferred mass media source

the only one that can be accused of bias against greedy ozbargainers.

  • Wow - internet famous.

As for the actual detail, it kinda sounds like they want you to refer people - but not too much. Kinda counter-productive IMHO.

Yep someone wayback was set to collect bigtime after posting their referral code and getting 1000s of clicks. And others were jealous. Since then ING has changed their T&Cs and the site rules here also restrict it.

I think their marketING department made a ****ING mess of things a while back.

The intended operation of the offer is to say a clear 'screw you' to existing customers.

I don't get it. They have an affiliate program but they get shitty if too many people join through you?

    • Because most of the people from here would sign up, get the $75, then close the account the day after the funds have left :)
