The $3.40 PPSR/REVS report has been happening for years and yet it is still a great bargain. Things that have been happening for years can still be bargains when they're reposted.

        The what?

Ah yeah sweet, thanks for clarifying.

          Great, thanks for that

you know, the one that has been happening for years

  • +8

Best deal in town. I've made use of it for 5 years running and will continue to do so for as long as it is offered. ANZ do it to attract new customers to game so I game them. I think they make enough money.

    • +3

How often can you cancel/resubscribe to get the 75k QFF?

      • +2

        12 months

        • +1

12 months from when you first get it or 12 months from when it's cancelled?

        • +3

          @morini: cancelled

    • What do you tell them when you cancel? I have one and is approaching the 12 month mark..

      • +64

Tell them you want to cancel

        • +10

          pure genius.

      • +1

You could say that you are applying for a housing loan and need to cut existing debt and increase your borrowing power.

        • +12

Don't say anything besides you want to cancel. It's none of their business why.

        • +3

Absolutely. I just send them a message through secure mail. Never give a reason and never been asked why. I think deep down they know.

        • @cnrmlj: hahaha

    • +1

There's also this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/355347 which has a separate 12 month cooldown.

      • Wow nice so you can alternate cooldowns between the two cards. Thanks for the tip.

      • Thank you. I did not know they had separate cool downs! :)

      • I just saw this.. Are you sure? because that's amazing!!
Have you personally done this? Also can I have both cards concurrently? (i.e keep my QFF black and then apply for the Rewards black?)

    • +1

LOL I've done it twice. Their service even to open the card (wait over an hour in their cbd branch) is so horrendous, I don't feel bad at all.

      • I got my card today and it took them forever to ID me at the branch, probs over 45 minutes. They kept asking me if I decided to get the card because of the bonus points? No I am not going to tell you I am getting a card for the bonus points! None of your business ANZ!

    • How soon do you receive the points after you hit the minimum spend?

I hit the spend in the first two weeks, would it be likely I’d receive the points before the three months is over?

      • +1

I hit the minimum spend by 2nd statement but only receive the points when the 3rd statement is issued.

        • Awesome, thanks for that.

Makes sense that they’d only grant the points after the eligibility period, otherwise you can make a huge purchase, refund it and still get the points.

        • @Joe146:

No all card providers are like that. With Amex recently I hit the minimum spend in about 3 weeks and they issued the points to me a few weeks after.

      • Absolutely. The bonus points are normally credited to Qantas within a week or so from reaching the spend threshold and happen separately from the usual monthly credit card statement cycle. I got mine last month about a week after the points from my first statement.

    • What type of places have you been?

      • Syria.

  • I just closed this account last Nov, so i have to wait till Nov to be ellible for the bonus points right?

    • +1

Yes. I waited an extra month to be safe.

      • I think I'm finally approaching my 12mths. What do people usually wait to be safe? Closure email/letter plus 1 more month?

  • +1

I grabbed this last year. Then cancelled at 12 months. Replaced with AMEX deal with 100K points.

    • +1

      Can you not do both?

      • Want to know as well.

      • You can do both, separate companies

    • Do you know how much qantas points you need to fly overseas? Say to tokyo?

  • +1

What can 75k Qantas points get you? Please elaborate.. tnx

    • +4

One way Perth to Rome is 45k (on Emirates which is partner airline).

    • $450 in gift cards at various retailers.

    • +6

      $750 cold hard cash.

  • +1

    Thanks for the reminder.
This is perfect timing. My 12 month waiting period is coming to an end in the next few days.

    • So when you cancel the card but the qantas points remain on your qantas account indefinitely?

I already got the Amex 100k bonus points, these would just add to those points right?

      (I'm new at this)

      • Short answer, yes. I've done this with a few credit cards.

      • Yes, third party points (QFF, Velocity, etc) are not linked to the card itself so it doesn't matter if the bank card is closed.
You get to keep your points.

    • Why don't you just cancel now?

      • What do you mean?
Not really sure what you're asking..
I've already cancelled the card.. almost 1 year ago to the day (I add it to my calendar when I do).
And even if I just cancelled it now, I'd still have to wait 12 months before I'd be eligible for the bonus points.

        • Oh i thought the bonus points come when you sign up for the card and went you do something on the first few months.

        • @PeeDee:
The points come within 3 months of activating/using the required spend on the card.
The issue is that you cannot then go and reapply for the same card and get the bonus points again. You need to wait 12 months between closing the card and reapplying to be able to receive the bonus points a second time. Hope that makes sense.

    • Seriously? I guess it might affect your record with ANZ?…

    • +1

ANZ require proof of income ie payslip. You can get away with this on other cards\banks though.

      • How strictly is this enforced? Asking for a mate:)

      • +1

Doesn't stop anyone from editing their payslips before sending to ANZ ;)

        • Doesn't stop them from finding out you used fraudulent documents, and doesn't stop them from recording a hit on your credit file and potentially blacklisting you from ANZ for life either.

        • I know right! Editing PDFs is so easy now a days! Not that I’m condoning this sort of behaviour

        • annnnnd that's how you destroy your character with ALL banks : D

      • I'm a contractor who owns my own company for this, so don't have payslips. What could I use instead? Or would the back accept a payslip I throw together in Word?

        • They might want your previous year's tax return + invoices, or a bank statement showing reqular deposits

        • I think it's the last 2 years Tax Returns and your accountants contact details.

        • Thanks!

        • Typically tax return and or recent NOA, anything in Word is normally not accepted

    • +2

Lie about your expenses and number of dependants

  • So ANZ have been offering this deal for the past 5 years?

Has it been offered continually or do they only offer it for a few months then re offer it like a year later?

Just wondering because I won't have the $2500 to spend for a few months so can't apply yet as it needs to be within 3 months of approval date.
    Ta

    • It's not a year long offer, but it occurs at least a few times each year

    • +1

The offer isn't open all year but it is fairly regular. You sign up, spend 2.5k, pocket the points which land in your QF account (not ANZ), and cancel immediately. Then wait for 12 months before doing it again. For this time around I signed up in late Feb and the points reached my account this week - so just under 7 weeks all up. Not bad for 30 minutes work! With the 75,000 points I could net $750 at least, possibly as much as $820. There are plenty of buyers right here on ozbargain who will relieve you of them.

      • Thanks any idea how long it runs for when its offered? Cheers

      • Was thinking about doing this. So you had no issues getting the points using this method?

        • +1

I've not experienced any issues to date. I simply tell them I'm cancelling and they tend not to make too much of an issue. I've received the points every year for 5 years.

Remember these bastards are making in excess of $5b a year so I for one feel no remorse for doing to them what they do to hard working Aussies every day.

        • @Lunarboogie:

Excellent always thought about doing this.
So sign up Feb 2018. Get points April 2018. Cancel in April 2018. Apply for same credit Card April 2019. Repeat steps?
Was worried I'd have to sit on the credit card for a year before cancelling.

        • @R3XNebular:

Hell no. Cancel immediately to start the timer again. I hate the banks so this is my one man crusade against those blood suckers. Try it. It's easy money.

        • @Lunarboogie:

Excellent. And Ffs I accidentally negged

      • How do u get the $750?

        • +1

Do a search for Tuvz who dutifully mans this site like a ravenous owl and he'll buy them off you for a cent a pop. He's totally legit. But there are other buyers too, some of whom are willing to pay more. I can't vouch for them but I can for Tuvz.

        • @Lunarboogie: Thank you sir! Also do you know the difference between the QFF point and ANZ Reward point? i.e. what is the $ amount in converting the 75k reward points? https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/rewards/black/

          TIA

        • +1

          @MID:

The two have two seperate rewards programs. One that earns QF points and the other ANZ rewards points which can be transferred to a range of frequent flier programs, including velocity, for half a point. This means the ANZ rewards program has half the value of the QF one but it may suit those who aren't interested in Qantas points and prefer to fly Virgin.

        • @Lunarboogie: thanks again. Although I have no preference in Qantas or Virgin, I might go with the QFF since I could go to on-sell this for some cash (to pay down mortgage).

        • +1

          @MID:

Good call. Every dollar counts. Bear in mind Tuvz will also buy Velocity points off you for the same price. Heck he recently purchased 9000 Emirates points off me which were just sitting in my account doing nothing. Easy $90.

        • @MID: From what I've read on the forums because they're seperate programs you could grab both at the time and get the points for both

          Downvote if this is wrong

        • @Baghern: Wow this is even better. thanks for the tips! Will see if I could get an approval for both tomorrow.

        • @Lunarboogie:
So if you are a velocity collector what's best?

Qff and transfer or ANZ point and transfer

        • @Geoff897:

I am a velocity collector but not at the expense of QF points. Go for both cards and keep your options open. You can get the respective bonuses as long as you maintain a gap of 12 months between cancelling and signing up for each card. Tip is to keep each card only until you get the bonus and cancel immediately, thus setting the clock.

    • Just wondering because I won't have the $2500 to spend for a few months so

If you have various bills and stuff you can always pay more into them in advance. Few hundred on the phone, few hundred on the internet, few hundred on the water/gas/elec, prepay next council rates, etc.

      • Toll road tag. It won't take long to use up!

      • Yeah got my body corporate to pay but won't be issued the bill until June. Was thinking to ring up and see if i can pay early and 2 bills in advance. I don't want to pay any more than that as their credit card surcharge is quite high

      • Can we use this card for woolies 5% egift card?

        • Yep

  • Is paying Rego/Greenslip and utility bills count towards Eligible transactions?
The answer would make me go either way.
    thanks
